This effect, with the +1 damage per primary stat perk, has really restricted item builds and general role filling and has firmly established the rock paper scissors element in dota 2.

I'm not necessarily against this element if the game now puts the following in to the game...

A starting component option list for every role that your hero can fill

The higher rating your hero is at that role, probably the less costly and significant your starting component can be....

If, for example.... your hero has a 3 star support rating... and a 1 star durable rating

Has the option to start with either wind lance, or this or that for around 200 cost

Or start with 2 ring of protection, or this or that for around 400 cost

Then reduce the starting amount of gold for any hero

Finally, not related to this post, with the decrease of evasion on talism and solar crest, I think I would also like to see a corresponding increase of evasion on butterfly?

While I agree the stat efficiency amplifies the rock-paper-scissors effect, it doesn't really restrict anyone's item builds, if it even changed anyone's item build at all.

Those ratings are best left alone, without affect to gameplay. If you think with this, Dragon Knight will be given most stuffs, since he belongs to a LOT of roles. Meanwhile, Outworld Devourer suffers because he's specialized on just the Carry Nuker roles. Professional dota already has a favoritism on versatile heroes, don't make it slope even more.

A nerf in one item doesn't necessarily mean a buff in another. And butterfly is already good as it is.

In your eyes and on a serious competitive level it may not have changed the item builds, but for casual and devoted players it has....

It's simply not viable to do more creative approaches and achieve viability through the skill of one's playing...

While this is up here I would also like to request that when ranged heroes get a shield and a shadow amulet that they combine together in to one item and the attack speed is lost

This is... so wrong at all levels honestly.

The update to attributes was a nice touch to freshen up the heroes and give the classes a bit of identity, nothing more. And it definitely doesn't restrict heroes from variating in builds whatsoever.

Imagine you're playing against Huskar as an Int hero. You need to have a Halberd against him but your team will probably not gonna buy it. Will buying your own make the game unplayable for you? Not at all. More than that, a solid health boost and evasion greatly improve your survivability - the Achilles's heel of most Int heroes. Or take Doom - an Str hero who is known for his survivability. And yet, one of his best core item is Shiva's Guard: an item that gives a ton of intelligence and armor - and not a single point of strength. But you dig a little deeper and see that it covers two of his most glaring weaknesses while also capitalizing on his role of an aura mannequin.

Your build must have at least some of the 3 main purposes: empowering your strengths, covering your weaknesses or counteracting enemies. Blindly following guides and building things just because "in gives my main stat" or "that guy in twitch said so" is inherently wrong and will get you nowhere. Think everything through.

Also I absolutely think that category system in Dota is GARBAGE. It's horribly imprecise and outdated, and IMO must be drastically reworked and kept in line with meta. Following it in its current state is a very bad idea.
