Introduction

Before we start, just want to say Don't vote my guide down to make yours have a higher rating. That's just douchey and stupid. Also this isn't a guide from Play Dota.

Yo, this is wilddeonpwn and welcome to my guide on Purist Thunderwrath, the Omniknight. This guide can be targetted to any type of players, new or old to Omniknight.
Omniknight is a great support, especially as a Lane support. Your job as Omniknight is to keep your laning partner alive, as he fits in as one of the "keeping their partner alive" heroes in the game along with Warlock, Dazzle and so forth.
Without further ado, let's begin!
DotaCinema's Intro

Lore:
Purist Thunderwrath was a hard-fighting, road-worn, deeply committed knight, sworn to the order in which he had grown up as squire to elder knights of great reputation. He had spent his entire life in the service of the Omniscience, the All Seeing One. Theirs was a holy struggle, and so embedded was he in his duty that he never questioned it so long as he had the strength to fight and the impetuous valor that comes with youth. But over the long years of the crusade, as his elders passed away and were buried in sorry graves at the side of muddy tracks, as his bond-brothers fell in battle to uncouth creatures that refused to bow to the Omniscience, as his own squires were chewed away by ambush and plague and bad water, he began to question the meaning of his vows--the meaning of the whole crusade. After deep meditation, he parted ways with his army and commenced a long trek back to the cave-riddled cliffs of Emauracus, and there he set a challenge to the priests of the Omniscience. No knight had ever questioned them before, and they tried to throw him into the pit of sacrifice, but Purist would not be moved. For as he faced them down, he began to glow with a holy light, and they saw that the Omniscience had chosen to reveal Itself to him. The Elder Hierophant led him on a journey of weeks down into the deepest chamber, the holy of holies, where waited not some abstract concept of wisdom and insight, not some carved relic requiring an injection of imagination to believe in, but the old one itself. It had not merely dwelt in those rocks for billions of aeons; no, It had created them. The Omniscience had formed the immense mineral shell of the planet around itself, as a defense against the numerous terrors of space. Thus the All Seeing One claimed to have created the world, and given the other truths revealed to Purist on that day, the knight had no reason to refute the story. Perhaps the Omniscience is a liar, deep in its prison of stone, and not the world's creator at all, but Omniknight never again questioned his faith. His campaign had meaning at last. And there can be no question that the glorious powers that imbue him, and give his companions such strength in battle, are real beyond any doubt.
See how awesome he truly is?

Explanation:
This is Omniknights signature skill. A great heal but a very devastating AoE Nuke too. One thing I stress to tell every Omni player I meet: DO NOT KILL STEAL WITH THIS SPELL! Kills do not matter, especially for omni! Leave the kills for someone else (preferably the carry)

Explanation:
This skill is why your sometimes called the "Portable BKB." This skill is pretty much a free Black King Bar, it's great in team fights, and can aid people who don't have their BKB yet, try to use this on the ally that deals the most damage in fights (the carry). Also on thing to always remember: YOU CAN NOT PURIFY SOMEONE THAT IS MAGIC IMMUNE! Don't go miss clickin' :D

Explanation:
This skill is extremely useless unless known how to be used correctly. For starters it has the worst radius ever, making you having to be in near melee range for this to work. To make this spell the most efficient in team fights, try to stand near the enemy carry, lowering his attack speed like a boss. No points are gotten early because it's.. well... useless...

Explanation:
This is what makes it all work out fine in team fights. Letting your whole team have physical immunity, you'll be free from the pesky carries like Anti-Mage and Faceless Void. Also note that an ally under the effects of this skill and Repel is 100% immune. Make sure you do that to your carry. IMO the BEST ultimate in the whole game (except for Witch Doctor's epic dance moves for his Death Ward...

Items

Starting

Cost: 443 gold

The Tango is for health regen early when you just can't sustain enough mana to heal nonstop.

Clarity potions are for some mana regen, which is great since Omniknight should be healing the carry when (or before) his regen runs out.

Iron Branch is for some early stats, can either be sold later or made into a Magic Wand

Since your a hardcore support, Animal Courier is just an absolute necessity, but if someone else has bought it, guess what? Wards.

Early Game

Cost: 1920 gold

Boots of Speed, blah blah blah..

Soul Ring is a great item on Omniknight, as it takes health for the mana, and you can just heal yourself for that health back. Great item as a healing support.

As I said (I think) always carry a Town Portal Scroll with you, to help defend or help a hero being ganked in tower vicinity.

Flying Courier, Observer Ward, Sentry Ward, your the support, and a hardcore one too. It's your job to buy these.

Core

Cost: 5530 gold

For your boots, Arcane Boots is the usual best and common option for omninknight, being a great support item but also helping out your mana problems. Although, if you can Tread Switch accordingly with skill, Power Treads are a great item, especially with that Tread Switch

Carry a Town Portal Scroll always, as I told you before.

Support, blah blah blah - Dust of Appearance, Observer Ward, Sentry Ward

Core Extension

Cost: 7806 gold

Mekansm is THE BEST support item, and personally my favorite item in the game along with Force Staff this will keep you alive longer in fights and such, and a great item for Omniknight

Eul's Scepter of Divinity is a great item, serving as a disable or buying you more time in ganks for your team mates. A nice combo is this with a Blink Dagger. Cyclone yourself then blink out.

Necronomicon is a good item, but get at least Mekansm before this. The summons are powerful and when the warrior dude dies, it does quite a lot of damage to the killer.

SITUATIONAL ITEMS
Cost: 509 gold

This is a valid option, but usually the Soul Ring with your heal is enough for healing. After Arcane Boots, you won't have as much mana problems, so this is a very situational

Cost: 350 gold

A minor slow, only get if you need some sort of slow (this isn't even that much of a slow). Also note that this STACKS with you Degen Aura, so it does kinda prove that it's a slow.

Cost: 2200 gold

Ah, my Force Staff, how much I love it. Ahum.. This item is great as a support item (usually I just get it for the fun of it :D) to force your team dudes out of a horrible gank or save yourself.

Cost: 875 gold

Another heal, it is an OK item, but getting a Soul Ring is better and you have a constant heal. Only get it if you really need it and nobody else has it.

Cost: 500 gold

This is great, and lots of omniknights go for this in their Early Game items. He simply needs some extra mana regen, but it still is situational/optional

Cost: 2050 gold

This is a good support item, especially to your melee carries. Great item, and since your a melee support too, you get the lifesteal! :D

Cost: 2150 gold

Not a very great item, especially since your a support, and should be spending your money on other support items. The only time you would get this is if you needed more chasing or escaping power.

Cost: 1600 gold

This is great against a Juggernaut that is ult'ing you to death. Next time he won't target you. But also your ULT makes in ineffective to ALL your team mates in an area, so this is kinda a last resort.

Cost: 3628 gold

Another great support item. After your Mekansm, if there is a whole bunch of casters and nukers on the enemy team, get this item. It helps tonnes, especially in team fights. Pop your ult, Mekansm and then Pipe of Insight. Very effective combo.

Luxury items

As a support, Scythe of Vyse and Shiva's Guard are great items. A chicken disable and an AoE Slow. It's great stuff!

If your planning to get an Assault Cuirass, which you might be, only get it if you have completed you "Support Criteria" meaning you have most support items e.g. Mekansm, Pipe of Insight and then you can go for this (or something like that)

Boots of Travel are great late game when you just need that TP whether it's to join a team fight or to escape, it's a great item late game. Do not get this early game.

Blade Mail is a great counter to the heroes like Phantom Assassin and Ursa, they will fall to your Blade Mail in a matter of seconds (Especially Phantom Assassin).

Refresher Orb is another great support item. A double Guardian Angel is beautiful and freaking amazing

ULTRA-Luxury items

Once you have more than enough gold for..well, anything, start buying these sort of items. I remember one match where I bought a Radiance and destroyed a team (I rushed Radiance because I wanted to be an idiot :P). Heart of Tarrasque is another great item, especially in the tanking sense.
Offensive: Radiance
Tanky/Defensive: Heart of Tarrasque

Gameplay (NOT COMPLETE)

LANING

Doing this part is easy, kinda..not really. Well, at least choosing your lane is the easy part; the answer is simple, go with your carry, or preferably a ranged hero. One thing to note: only start healing him when he's about to die, obviously, or when your heal is lvl 2-3, which is when it is strong enough for a proper heal. Your carry should have regen, so let him use that first. But of course Repel him when needed.
GOing mid as Omniknight is a complete no-no. You simply don't need the things that going mid provides:
  • Protection
  • No competition for last-hitting
  • The cliffs/steps
Just..don't go mid..

EARLY GAME

This stage of the game is, in my opinion, the easiest role, and most important role, that Omniknight will ever do. You have one main objective that you must do above EVERYTHING else: Keeping your carry alive. Simple, huh? Nope. It's not that easy, and you can get quite stressed fairly easily, and if you fail, your carry might even rage at you (trust me, I've had experience) and that of course is NOT good.
Never go for ganks unless your doing the Degen Aura Build, because all you can do is Repel and Heal someone without it. Okay, on to the next part.

MID GAME

By now you might have your Mekansm, depending on your early game and farm. Usually, you probably won't have it, but you should definitely have a Soul Ring. Anyway, this phase of the game is what I like to call the "Teamfight Era". It's true, and scrap what I said before, this is also a very important stage in the game for Omniknight. Make sure that you are in EVERY teamfight, and if you ultimate is not up yet, tell you team to stall for a while, then go in and destroy face when your ulti is up. Trust me, my experiences with playing against Omniknight is that that Guardian Angel is so, SO annoying, especially if I am playing a carry.

Always remember the range of your Guardian Angel. It takes time, but you'll be able to estimate it eventually. Try to get every hero in it, blah blah. Farm your Mekansm.

LATE GAME

This is when I think you start to fall off in usefulness, but only slightly. You can still heal, but best of all you have a free BKB! Screw what I said, your still HELL useful! This is pretty much the same concept as "MID GAME", be in every team-fight, make sure your ultimate is up, and best of all, destroy face and pwn!

HOW TO FARM

Conclusion

Thank you guys so much for taking the time to read this, I love writing guides and it's always a pleasure to hear people praising me, THANKS!

Have fun Owning Team Fights and Teams with Omni!
