Introduction

Hero Introduction
Mogul Khan's ability to disrupt an enemy team is legendary, his tanking skills renowned. His Battle Hunger gives enemies the choice between staying back and taking damage, or engaging in battle and risking being trapped by Berserker's Call. The extremely effective combination of Berserker's Call and Counter Helix can cause massive amounts of damage to a large group of enemies, while allowing his allies free reign. If an enemy should manage to escape his Call, Mogul Khan can abruptly end their life with his mighty Culling Blade. Truly, the Axe is an enemy to be feared, lest his opponents taste his blade!

Lore
As a grunt in the Army of Red Mist, Mogul Khan set his sights on the rank of Red Mist General. In battle after battle he proved his worth through gory deed. His rise through the ranks was helped by the fact that he never hesitated to decapitate a superior. Through the seven year Campaign of the Thousand Tarns, he distinguished himself in glorious carnage, his star of fame shining ever brighter, while the number of comrades in arms steadily dwindled. On the night of ultimate victory, Mogul declared himself the new Red Mist General, and took on the ultimate title of ' Axe.' But his troops now numbered zero. Of course, many had died in battle, but a significant number had also fallen to Axe's blade. Needless to say, most soldiers now shun his leadership. But this matters not a whit to Axe, who knows that a one-man army is by far the best.

Skill Explanation

Berserker's Call provides the full armor bonus at level one. It is the primary factor in his ability to survive physical damage without good statistics. This is used initiate, to disable enemies and sometimes save an ally drawing them with Berserker's Call to attack you.

A more advanced technique used by players is to max out Battle Hunger by Level 7. This enables Axe to constantly deal dots (damage over time) in the lane, dealing crippling damage and blocking any potential to push or counterpush. This meshes well with Axe's capability to tank and keep the enemy at bay while stopping them from last hitting or denying creeps, allowing Battle Hunger deal its full damage. Battle Hunger is greatly combined with Urn of Shadows, increasing the damage over time.

Axe can clash with the enemy creeps by himself with Counter Helix allowing him to take down unstacked creeps by himself. Axe can go in the lane between the first and second tower, so he can kill the incoming creeps with Counter Helix, to increase the tower pushing and lane.

Culling Blade is Axe's ultimate, that can instantly kill a hero if he hits the Hp threshold or bellow. Culling Blade can go through many things, even spells such as Shallow Grave and Reaper's Scythe and will give a bonus movement speed and attack speed for a short duration if the target is killed successfully, if not it will go on cooldown for 60 seconds.

Items

  • Starting and Core items.

  • Luxuries.
  • Boots of Travel are a perfect fit for Axe, granting him even greater movement speed to almost guarranteeing the ability to outrun the entire enemy team. Generally, you should not haste to improve movement speed however, as Axe is great up until mid-late game with only the basic Boots of Speed.
  • Heart of Tarrasque increases Axe's health and health regeneration to the point where you never have to return to the base after teamfights, and is a good pick for him when he is already dominating mid-game fights.
  • Assault Cuirass provides additional armor, which is great if the enemy has a lot of physical damage. Consider getting it after Shiva's Guard if your team is lacking one.
  • Bloodstone gives both survivability and regeneration.
  • Shiva's Guard is a luxury item for Axe (Except when going up against Outworld Devourer, in this particular case you must have it). In team fights, it might become extremely useful as it allows the player to take even more damage due to the armor increase and the slow to the entire enemy team's movement speed and attack speed.
  • Aghanim's Scepter improves Culling Blade's kill threshold, extends the buff duration significantly, and lowers cooldown enough for it to be used again in a teamfight in case it fails.

  • Situational items.
  • Hood of Defiance greatly helps against burst damage nukes.
  • Pipe of Insight comes in handy when facing nukers such as Lina or Zeus when possible in the mid-game, and the Barrier buff given to your team will be of great use in teamfights.
  • Heaven's Halberd makes a surprisingly good pairing with Counter Helix, since it will trigger even before Counter Helix's effect begins.
  • Mekansm is a great utility item which will make you and your team much harder to kill. Use its ability to heal you and nearby friendly Heroes at the cost of some mana, while buffing everyone at the same time.
  • Ghost Scepter makes him invulnerable to auto-attacks for a short time period, which may help him survive in some situations.
  • Radiance can be a good item for Axe to get, and greatly synergizes well with Counter Helix.

Lanes

Middle Lane and ganking

Axe is a good midder, but it depends against which hero he will be up against. If it's someone like Pudge, Dragon Knight or Lifestealer he can easily dominate the lane. However going mid up against heroes such as Outworld Devourer, Silencer or Skywrath Mage, you will lose the lane very easily. When reached level 7 you should start ganking. You might wanna level up Berserker's Call in this situation more than Battle Hunger. In order to keep the enemies disabled and attacking you, also you returning the favor with Counter Helix and this will give you and your allies more advantage of killing them.

Bot and Top lane.

You're great at both lanes. You will need to have supporters whom spells work great with Berserker's Call. Example Crystal Maiden, Vengeful Spirit, Dazzle. When using Berserker's Call, the damage and disable from Crystal Nova and Frostbite can insure the kill. Shadow Wave can heal you and damage enemies while using Berserker's Call. Magic Missile can do big damage to the enemy and Wave of Terror will decrease their armor and will make Counter Helix do more damage than the usual.

Jungle.

While jungling you might pick a Stout Shield and 2 Tangos for survival. You can rush in Tranquil Boots or Vanguard. You might help out your allies if they're in big trouble.

Off-lane for experienced players.

You're a great off-laner. If you get lucky, against 2 melees in the lane, than you can easily win it. Example: Sven and Tiny or Anti-Mage and Nyx Assassin. Going up against 1 range and 1 melee not a problem either. But being against Vengeful Spirit and Clockwerk you may not have the advantage to win the lane easily.

Allies and Enemies

Allies

Your Allies are those who work great with your spells and excellent in team fights.

Enemies are those who will slow you, deal pure damage to you, big DPS and drain your mana.
