Pipe of Insight is legit as hell on the new Spectre (was kind of bad on the old one). Now that magic damage gets reflected before reductions it means that you reflect the full damage while you only take the damage reduced by magic resistance.

Yeah midas into manta/skadi is essentially the fighting-oriented build, midas being of course optional, so is diffusal. Although these days since the Desolate change there's this build based on getting an early Morbid Mask or Helm of the Dominator to get your farm from the jungle (with the new desolate it's really fast).

Yep, MKB on Spectre is pretty much garbage since she's not a physical damage dealer in the first place and Desolate can't miss. That's the great part about her in comparison to other illusion heroes, she doesn't care about evasion.

Seconded.
even a simple cloak costing 550 gold will make your spell resist shoot from 25% to 40% ish.

Building armor and spell resist hsa never been so fun on tank spectre.

Some of these have been pointed out, but whatever, MY TURN! 8{D :-

requires

1) If you can get Radiance in 20 minutes, always get it. With an average of 165 Gold from each Creep Wave and 50 Periodic Gold every 50 seconds, a good way to judge how fast you can Farm Radiance is to count how much Gold you have towards it at 5:00 and 10:00.

Ignoring the cost of any other Items you bought, you should have at least 1.3k Gold at 5:00 and 2.6k Gold at 10:00 (getting 3 out of 4 Melee / Ranged Creeps, both Siege Creeps and not dying). This sets you up for a 15 minute Sacred Relic, which makes for an easy 20 minute Radiance. Every Kill / Assist sets you ahead by approximately 60 seconds / 30 seconds and every death sets you behind 60 - 90 seconds.

If you're having trouble in getting 3 out of 4 Last Hits in Lane...this is not a Spectre game my friend. 8{(

While many people will advocate sticking to Brown Boots until you get your Radiance, consider upgrading to Power Treads if you get a couple of Kills. You've already obtained most of the extra Gold to afford them and they help you Farm faster, making it easier to...err...I forget the term for it, but Clearing Wave as quickly as possible then rotating into the Jungle for some extra CS while you wait for the next Creep Wave.

Power Treads are better than Phase Boots in this scenario because if you're getting early Kills and a fast Radiance, you can get Boots of Travel as your 4th Slot Item, rather than going Phase Boots. Phase Boots are generally better on Spectre, but Power Treads are better no matter what when you're going to have BoTs at 30:00 - 35:00.

VS.

2) It's been pointed out by a few others, but you do not normally go for Diffusal after Radiance. This is because you get both Items for different reasons.

Radiance is a decent Farming Item, but the reason you get it is when you are Tanky enough, and mobile enough to Chase down Heroes. Thanks to Dispersion, you will be building a Tanky hero anyway. Thanks to Spectral Dagger, you can Chase Heroes over cliffs and through Trees.

You do not need ordinarily need a Diffusal Blade to make the most out of Radiance, and it doesn't Synergise with Spectre that well either. The reason you get Diffusal is to use Purge and keep Heroes close so you can Right-Click them down with Desolate. It is a good Mid-Game Ganking item if you're building something like Phase Boots, Urn of Shadows early on on Spectre because you couldn't secure enough Farm to build a Radiance and since you're still learning Spectre...

3) ...try to only pick her when you're confident that you'll have a strong Lane. NEVER play her without a Tri-Lane or a Jungling Semi-Support + Lane Support. You practically need Free Farm to get a fast Radiance.

You should avoid a Situation where you need to change your build from a Radiance Rush, because builds like Phase-Urn-Diffu require more experience before you can correctly identify what build you should be running. Odds are, you'll build the wrong Items, find you're ineffective but won't understand why. If you're getting enough Farm for a fast Radiance, game is easy.

4) As I've said before, picking the right Items can be tricky on Spectre, and as Sando pointed out, your game was a Pipe of Insight game. Spectre has a very wide selection of Situational Items:-

I'm not too sure about Armlet of Mordiggian, and I probably missed a few, but...that should be most of Spectre's Situational Items, 2 or 3 of which you should be aiming to build every game (if the game lasts long enough of course).

Maybe Vanguard/ Crimson Guard Spectre will even finally be viable with the new Dispersion, since now it reflects the damage before reductions (meaning that after reduction you take less damage so at the end of the day you block a bigger part of it)

For the same reason it's viable on Bristleback because it triggers after his passive.

And now you can't even say that Vanguard is bad for farming since you farm with Desolate anyways. And vanguard helps tank jungle creeps while you wreck them with desolate.

So yeah don't flame Vanguard Spectres in this patch, it's probably finally legit after being bad for so long.
Instead focus on flaming the Bloodstone Death Prophets :)

I think it's a combination of Spectre's insanely bad early game combined with Veno's extremely strong lane presence..

If I were you, I'd go Brown Boots into an Urn of Shadows (or a Bracer), then finish Ring of Aquila, Poor Man's Shield and Power Treads before the Radiance.

Going naked Radiance after brown boots is a terrible choice. It's even worse than an Anti-Mage going naked Battle Fury after just brown boots. You might be improving your item timing by a few minutes, but you leave yourself so squishy that you would die a few times, which would compensate for that delay anyway.

Here my latest game with Spectre...
Spectre Game

In this case my farm activity is hard, anyway don't afraid to buy vanguard cause is help you a lot during team fight, my build actually diffusal blade, vanguard, manta, and then heart of tarasque.

Keep improve your farm on lane ability, especially on denying creeps.

i suggest to not max desolate on early game, because its only added 65 bonus damage.
on early game get your dispersion max and also dagger. (dagger give 200 damage plus 20% movement speed on lvl 4).
