Seems like a counter to the nuke meta. Early kills on squishy supports will be much harder now against the likes of invoker and OD. It kind of like a mini Linkens / Hood

Also : Echo Sabre Confirmed Broken on Slark. Just got a RAMPAGE!.

Rampage #5

I think its only broken because Shadow Blade +175 Damage procs both times. Please IceFrog dotn take this from me.

It's like a pseudo-treant armor that grants mp regen instead of hp and only magic damage block. It's not bad especially if you're playing someone mana starved or playing a well positioned support. Yeah the wind lace is already being bought by everyone so far lol

Im telling ya these items were built for Slark. Also PA is gonna be loving that double hit and mana regen for dagger spams. The question is does Sabre apply the dagger effect twice since the dagger retains the same stats as her right click? Also VOLVO WHY YOU TAKE THE INT OFF DRUM WHYYY

Also... One Shot Shaker Anyone? SB and ES combined with ET?

Oof Arc got the TB level nerf hammer on this patch. No more Rapier Warden. No more 45 second Midas.

SERIOUSLY I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW DISGUSTING DOUBLE SHADOW BLADE PROC IS ON PEOPLE. SLARK. SB. LEGION. ETC.

OK so let's try to be rational about this and leave the gimmicks aside.

- Ranked all pick bans. I love the idea, even with the hidden implication that OSFrog has finally acknowledged that his game is broken and that ranked pubs are ruled by 4-5 meta heroes every patch because of poor balance. That's a really good thing. Only complaint I have is the randomness aspect, instead of e.g a majority vote. I hate randomness in video games.

Agreed, so guhd much happy YAY

- Scan is a smoke counter and a ganking buff, so you can find heroes sitting in jungle or not showing on lanes. I actually like it.

finally someone with sense,, though it is a bit counter intuitive imo

- Slark dota. I am pub playa. I pick Fish. I go safe layne. I rush Silver Edge because I get 15 AGI and 15 INT from it now, not to mention 15 damage and attack speed more than before. I get skadi, BKB and MKB because basher sucks now. Or SnY, or Bloodthorn so that nobody can escape me. I scan enemy jungle every 5 minute to look for food. I dive towers. I have infinite INT and can counter every hero in the game with my itemization.

or just get the new item that lets you get double silver edge damage???

- Invoker is still broken. Not much more to say there. He got both minor buffs and minor nerfs, while I was expecting MASSIVE nerfs. His late game is even better now.

he is now less of a lane dominator early game meaning he cant get the most out of his lane to get to late, still fun to play but

- Windranger got 2 new items she can play with, maybe even 3 with silver edge. Where are the nerfs again?

she still have the same problems that got her labelled situational by pro players so i doubt we will see much change in that

- Phantom Assassin is even more dog**** than she was in 6.86. Af if it was even possible. Abyssal Blade was literally the only item that made this hero deal any damage. Now it deals zero damage. Daedalus core item confirmed I guess. Also Stifling Dagger is much weaker. The only point of this skill was to get CS is lane, now the damage is too low in lane to do even that. Trash hero, stay away, there's gonna be 3 silver edges in every game anyways.

- Anti-Mage... Abyssal Blade is an interesting one. I actually consider it a buff. Abyssal no longer deals damage but you can replace Vlads by Vanguard in his build, and get manta/abyssal faster to be in fighting shape with way more survivability which is all he needs in the end. 250 more HP for AM, that's super good.

- Enchantress actually got buffed this patch. Yup, I'm serious. Hurricane Pike is stupid on her. And Bloodthorn = free MKB.

- Arc Warden. Ok, so does that mean that the Tempest Double casting items now puts those items on the main hero on cooldown? If that's the case the hero is trash. At least Necronomicon AW is no longer a thing. So yeah the hero sucks. Or at least is restricted to Radiance/Manta cancer.

- Mirana : Her aghs sounds only good for farming creeps. It doesn't scale so it's not even an item for support Mirana which would have been a good thing. I say silly gimmick and nothing else.

it does 1000 magic damage every 12 seconds.... in an AoE im not saying its great but its pretty good item now for her now as a pos 4

- Faceless Void is still a horrible carry. No change there, expect to still see the same silly OSFrog offlaner that's immune to harass and nothing else.

or you get some stupid attack speed items and max bash and watch them weep when your lvl 12 and hitting for 200+ damage a hit?

- Clockwerk...WHY. Just why. As if this hero wasn't spammed enough already...

honestly i cant say ive seen him played at all in my pubs last time was about 40 games ago...

- Echo Sabre...I'm extremely meh on that item. It's good on Spirit Breaker I guess, but who else? It's not a carry item, feels more like something for semicarry/offlaners. I guess on Riki maybe?

sven slark void and oh oh so many others, it is defs a good item for those that want to quickly output physical dps

- Strength carries buffed. That's actually a really good thing of the patch. SnY is pretty sick now on melee heroes, and rightfully nerfed on ranged ones. And armlet 10 armor, yay. Naix, CK, CK, WK, LC...me likey.

While I salute the effort of buffing strength and intelligence carries...I feel that we're essentially going to see the same heroes as in 6.86. The imbalance level (# of OP heroes, and # of trash heroes) looks a bit worse than before, no improvement here I fear.

slark is truth but i think some new heroes will arise 100% and i wont say balance is dead until the meta settles and the patch patches that patch the patch start flowing

Not even that. He didn't lose 6 base damage, he lost 6 INT and got his base damage increased to match for it. So he still hits for 120+ damage at the 5 minute mark.
Seriously, name one single thing that made his lane weaker.

Smuggels wrote:

I don't remember WR being situational in 6.85, I remember her being first phase pick material.
Still, I forgot that Bloodthorn hard counters the hero now, my bad...so it kind of balances out in the end I guess. Neither stronger nor weaker than in 6.86 or 6.85.

Smuggels wrote:

Well...yeah it's kind of like a dagon...good in the first 25 minutes of the game and pretty horrible afterwards.
A position 4 Mirana can't decently get this item before 30 minutes, at which time it has already fallen off super hard. Personally I see it a bit like Undying's aghs, except Undying can get it at the 12 minute mark after a lane stomp.
Support Mirana got no change to her build. Euls + mobility or other utility items.
The only place I see for aghs on Mirana is on an offlane Mirana going for a full utility build. You rush aghs, farm creeps with it, and go Euls, Eblade, blink, veil, sheep, etc. Pretty much full utility nuking Mirana. But even that I feel is pretty mediocre.

With a steroid that gives 31 magic damage on average per hit? I'm pretty skeptical here.
Besides, bash damage in chrono got reduced.

OK, fair enough, I just hate that hero because he makes playing support the most anti-fun thing ever.

With Sange and Yasha being that good on melee heroes now, I really don't think Sven will buy this over SnY. Slark, probably the same, silver into SnY or Skadi. It's not bad...just a bit outclassed.
Void...he's still an offlaner and I see no reason for him to divert from the 6.86 build.
Come to think of it, it's no good on Riki either, since it has no AGI in it - urn into diffusal/skadi/SnY is better on him.

Well, name a few heroes that weren't already picked in 6.86 that will become so in 6.87 then :)
And more importantly, name a 6.86 meta hero that will stop getting picked.
Hell, even OD, the only meta hero that got an actual nerf, is still really good thanks to the new items.

Clockwerk was kinda nerfed super hard last patch with the Cogs change, because it just made them significantly more awkward to use (Much harder to get the same push-backs as before, and the Cogs area is just worse). And Iron Talon meant greedy offlaners were a thing again. He went from one of the highest priority offlaners to almost never getting picked in competitive play.

I doubt these buffs will matter too much. Maybe the Blademail buff because apparently it's absurdly good. Speaking of which that might be enough to bring Axe back into the meta.

I also think you might under-estimate some of the non hero changes. I think they are all going to work towards a more passive early game, which means that we might see ricing be a little more viable. Which in turn enables some of the more passive heroes who were bad in 6.86.

Since you just can't have enough Chaos Breaker.

Guys. Am I only the only one to be puzzled by this :

Skywrath Mage Mystic Flare scepter duration increased from 2.4 to 12 seconds

What in the living hell... ?

He still has no way to keep enemies inside the AOE, even if he's stacked with items.

Even with a Scythe of Vyse on top of the slow from Concussive Shot, enemies move at the minimum movement speed : 100. Mystic Flare has a 170 radius. So enemies will leave the AOE before 2 seconds anyways.

The only difference is that a support Sky can rush Aghs if he has a setup like Faceless Void or Legion Commander is his team.

It actually nerfs Sky as a core, because spamming ult with no cooldown was the only thing that made him scale into late game. But it makes support Sky with a setup much better.

The only effect of that change is to make support Sky + Void/Legion/Treant/Alch/BM/whatever picked as combos in competitive. Maybe.
