Introduction

Hello welcome to Masked_Man's guild to Huskar. He is an amazing hero and extremely fun to play. A very good ganker with remarkable killing potential in early-mid game, with a strong presence later on.
I used to play him since dota 1,and after many years i finally decided to write my own guide for this wonderful wonderful hero.
I hope you enjoy playing him as much as i do.

In The Long Journey To The Victory I Will Show You The Mountains And Rivers, But It Is You Who Must Pass Them And Learn How To Do It WithOut Getting Hurt Or Drowned.

Lore

Emerging from the throes of the sacred Nothl Realm, Huskar opened his eyes to see the prodigal shadow priest Dazzle working a deep incantation over him. Against the ancient rites of the Dezun Order, Huskar’s spirit had been saved from eternity, but like all who encounter the Nothl he found himself irrevocably changed. No longer at the mercy of a mortal body, his very lifeblood became a source of incredible power; every drop spilled was returned tenfold with a fierce, burning energy. However this newfound gift infuriated Huskar, for in his rescue from the Nothl, Dazzle had denied him a place among the gods. He had been denied his own holy sacrifice. In time the elders of the order sought to expand their influence and Huskar, they agreed, would be a formidable tool in their campaign. Yet becoming a mere weapon for the order that denied him his birthright only upset him further. As the first embers of war appeared on the horizon, he fled his ancestral home to find new allies, all the while seeking a cause worthy of unleashing the power his total sacrifice could bring.

    • Huskar can use items during the leap.
    • If Huskar is disabled during the leap or the target moves more than 1400 units in 0.015 seconds, the leap stops.
    • Self-inflicted damage to Huskar is Magical damage. Thus, it can be reduced by magic resistance (including the effect from Berserker's Blood), or blocked by magic immunity.
    • With base magic resistance included, the targeted enemy will lose 37,5%(48,75*) of his current HP.

Talents

The talent tree is a new feature added in version 7.00.
You are able to put a point in your talent tree at levels 10,15,20 and 25.
At level 10 you can get 175 HP or +5 Burning Spear DPS, if you're having a hard time get the extra hp. IF you want to build a lot of attack speed and deal a lot of magical damage and work on Huskars attack range this talent is a must.
At level 15 you can either get 15% Lifesteal or 30 damage.
15% lifesteal is much more preferred. it stacks with Morbid Mask and gives you 30% lifesteal, that's 5% higher than Satanic.
At level 20 you can either get 15 strength or 40 Attack speed. get the extra strength if you want to tank up and Help out your team by soaking up as much damage as you can. get 40 more attack speed if you want to have more killing potential; You MUST get this if you're going for the build 2.
And finally at level 25 you can get 100 Attack Range or 500 Life Break Cast Range, according to Dotabuff most people pick 100 Attack range, the reason is simple: One of Huskar's greatest weaknesses is his short range, it also stacks with Dragon Lance. pick 500 Life Break Cast Range if there is a hard to reach hero like Drow Ranger or Sniper in the enemy team.

Items Analysis

Tango

Let’s Dance! A very handy item in early game laning stages that can save your life countless times. Contains of 4 charges that don’t stack with each other but stacks with other healing items and skills.
PRO TIP: Activate both Tango and Inner Vitality before a gank and attack your target with insane early game heath regen.

Iron Branch & Circlet

Good and Cheap items that ensure a good game. These items give you nice stats that make your early game much easier and can turn into Magic Wand. Don’t underestimate the power of those stats, in early game, where everything is small and little, from the Physical and Magical damages to health pools and mana pools, those stats make the difference between dead and alive.

Gauntlets of Strength
Gives you nice +3 strength that makes you tanky, gives you some regen and makes your Inner Vitality more efficient. It can turn into Bracer or Urn of Shadows. Useful when you’re laning against heroes who can harass you but can’t kite you; If they can, then wind lance comes in handy.

Wind Lace
A great item in whole early and mid-game stages. This item helps you escape and chase easier, makes heroes who can kite in early game like Drow Ranger cry and makes your jungling much faster and it all happens with that extra +20 movement speed.
Pro Tip: If you want to get early kills (Before reaching level 6 kills), this item is a must get, Extra movement speed helps you stack a lot more Burning Spears and also helps you to get away when you are done with your target.

Magic Wand
A great item, necessary for almost all heroes in early game. This item gives you +4 stats, Restores your health and mana, Solves your small mana issues, Can turn the tide in a fight and One of the best and cheapest counters to magical harass. What else you might want from such a cheap item?
PRO TIP: If you are laning against heroes with magical harass OR heroes who are famous for spamming certain spells as farming tool like blood seekers blood rage or Phantom Assassins Stifling Dagger, buy Magic Stick ASAP to get some extra charges.

Orb of Venom
An amazing item and one of the most cost efficient items in the whole game. This item gives you some DOT (damage over time) that stacks with Burning Spears and a great slow that helps you kite enemy melee heroes and stack a lot of Burning Spears to kill your target. The combination of Orb of Venom and wind lance means no one can run away from you when you reach it.

Urn of Shadows
It is a good early min-game item, there is no doubt in that, It gives you nice strength and %50 mana regen, and a nice active that restores both yourself or your ally health and mana BUT It is a situational early game item and here is the reason:
1) Although you have already got half of it in your inventory if you go for first starting item but half of it remains and its cost is questionable. When will you get it? If you want to get it, which item is going to be delayed because of it? Armlet of Mordiggian, power tread or the armor or lifesteal that you REALLY need?
2) If You can’t get early game kills or there is going to be a soft early game that both teams mostly concentrate on farming more than killing or pushing, this item will be useless.
This item is useful if there is heroes with high killing potential in early mid-game like Chaos Knight, Drow Ranger, etc Or there is no healer in your team and you believe Inner Vitality is not going to be enough for you and your teammates (Which it mostly is).

Bracer
This cheap and nice item makes your early game a lot easier, +9 damage helps you last hit and farm much easier, strength makes you tankier and makes Inner Vitality work better on you and stats help you have more presence on your lane.
Although this item delays your core item like Urn of Shadows a little bit, but with increased farming potential it provides, you can return the gold and much more very soon.

Power Treads
Your primary boots choice. The reasons are the attack speed that helps you deal more Physical and Magical damage and stats that it provides that increases your HP and damage. It also allows you to Tread switch that can be used to save Mana in early game while you cast Inner Vitality on yourself or an ally.

Phase Boots
Your secondary boots choice. Phase Boots provides +24 damage that helps you to farm easier and deal more Physical damage, Burst movement speed from It's amazing active helps you to escape Or catch the fleeing enemy.

Armlet of Mordiggian
The Core Of Your Core Items. This Great item gives all you want +7 HP regeneration,+9 Damage,+5 Armor,+25 Attack speed and while activated it gives you 65 damage and ability to cheat death. With this item your killing potential will become magnificently high.
A must get Item for Huskar in every single battle.
Note: You better rush it to have an amazing early game ganking power.

Morbid Mask
Morbid mask provides 15% lifesteal that fully stacks with +15% lifesteal talent, it can turn into Satanic or Vladmir's Offering or just stay where it is.
Lifesteal is Huskar main source of survivability, in bad situations, aside from Inner Vitality. You can active your Armlet of Mordiggian to farm better and have no worry of losing you HP because of extra lifesteal you get.
Some people don't buy this item because of Huskars level 15 talent that provides 15% lifesteal and try to save some gold. That is not recommended for Two main reasons: 1) Lifesteal from Morbid Mask provides early game and semi-midgame survivability it also helps you to jungle with your Armlet of Mordiggian on or have safe and strong laning with it.
2) The More LifeSteal You Have, The Harder You Die. In ganks and in the middle of the team fight where you are soaking damage, The combination of LifeSteal and Inner Vitality is your way for survivability. Remember a dead hero can farm or gank, so think twice before ignoring Morbid Mask.

Platemail
The first and the best armor choice for Huskar. It gives you 10 nice armor that completely covers Huskars vulnerability to Physical damage and you can build Assault Cuirass or Lotus Orb with this item. if you believe Solar Crest is a better armor choice according to the match, replace Platemail with Medallion of Courage.

Medallion of Courage
Cheap, Cost Efficient and Handy. This amazing item provides +7 armor, 50% mana regenerate and an amazing active that hurts your enemies so bad, but be aware of the fact that this item is a double edged sword that removes both You and the enemy hero, so be cautious not to die when you want to kill.

Assault Cuirass
This is an amazing item on Huskar. It gives you +15 armor,+55 attack speed and a -5 armor that effects enemy units and heroes and structures that makes them vulnerable to Physical damage, Great for team fights. Because of Huskar's low agility gain and starting armor, you must consider Buying it or other types of armor for Huskar.

Blade Mail
This item is a great counter against squishy heroes with high DPS like Phantom Assassin, Sniper, Drow Ranger, etc and it also makes your ganks much safer because most of the times you Life Break with your Blade Mail active, your target runs away. Make nukers and Phantom Assassin regret targeting you.

Solar Crest
A very underrated item that suits Huskar well. 25% evasion and +12 armor make Huskar very hard to kill for right-click physical damage dealers like Phantom Assassin And against right-click strength heroes who lack a good armor, shine is a counter for them. An amazing item for focusing an enemy hero in a team fight or save an ally if focused, very good for passive team fight.

Heaven's Halberd
A HUGE COUNTER for right click heroes like Ursa, Phantom Assassin, Troll Warlord, etc. Strength and Evasion make you survive ganks and team fights and also have a nice slow with good chance of occur (Thanks to patch 7.02) But Its active is the reason of building this item, It disarms the enemy target and makes it unable to attack for 3 second on melee heroes and 5.5 seconds for ranged heroes.
Note: The target enemy hero can still use Its spell while Disarmed.

Black King Bar
This Item must be used for both Defensive and Offensive purposes.
Against Heroes with Disables like Lion, Shadow Shaman, wind ranger, Bane, etc or Heroes with strong magical spells like Outworld Devourer, Timbersaw, Invoker, etc. Black King Bar is great.
In ganks you can use Black King Bar to prevent Life Break's self damage and ensure few second of magic immunity.

Eye of Skadi
An amazing item and a must buy item in the modern build. it provides +25 all stats, 250 Hp, 250 Mana and a great slow that goes through magic immunity and Lifestealers Ragethat slows targets attack and movement speed that helps you to kite heroes, specially melee heroes. A great counter against Strength right click who mostly lack good attack speed like Spirit Breaker, Wraith King, etc.

Dragon Lance
This item is starting to gain reputation among Huskar players,+140 attack range that stacks with +100 attack range from level 25 talent, and good stats make it a very useful item in Huskar's arsenal.

Hurricane Pike
This items provides very good stats, +4 health regen and a GREAT escape mechanism, useful for getting out of bad situations that works both on you and your allies.

Satanic
Turn Morbid Mask into Satanic to get 40% lifesteal, a game changing active that saves your life in the worst situations and 75 damage. if you still want to tank up after Assault Cuirass, Satanic and Eye of Skadi are the best options.

Heart of Tarrasque
heart provides +45 strength,+250 Hp and a very good regen.
Get this item if you want to be in full health in late game stages however, Eye of Skadi and Satanic are better options because of great things they offer.

Lotus Orb
It's good to answer the fire with fire but it's even better to answer it with their own fire. Lotus Orb re-casts most targeted spells back to their caster, by having this you can bait nukers to nuke them selves, or disablers to disable themselves, it also gives you nice armor and regen.

Maelstrom
Maelstrom is your ONLY Defensive item against illusion Heroes like Phantom Lancer, Naga Siren, Terrorblade and a handy tool against Broodmother's spiderlings. it provide +25 attack speed and +24 damage that works well with Huskar. Upgrade it to Mjollnir to get +80 attack speed that helps you to stack as many Burning Spears as possible.

Moon Shard
The cherry on the top, this item truly make both builds perfect. Moon Shard increases your attack speed greatly and allows you to see better at night by giving you 300 more night vision. More Attack speed means more Burning Spears Stacks.
You can consume it whenever you are six slotted.

Silver Edge
This is a situational item, It is mostly used as an initiation to remove passives such as Blur, Troll Warlords and Spirit Breakers bash, Bristleback, etc. It also gives you nice stats, damage and attack speed. do not use it as an escape mechanism, it is easily countered by Dust of Appearance, Sentry Ward or Gem of True Sight. This item and Shadow Blade are offensive items not defensive.

Monkey King Bar
Useful against evasion heroes such as Phantom Assassin, Windranger, Broodmothers Incapacitating Bite, Troll Warlords whirling axes, etc.
This item grants you +66 damage and 160 damage from mini bash that stacks with life steal, Mini bashes aid you to stop heroes from channeling deadly spells like Death Ward or stop a TP escape.

Heavily Situational Items

Vladmir's Offering
Vladmir's Offering provides 4 armor, lifesteal and good regen and it's all an aura. I recommend not buying this item because of lowered lifesteal and Satanics 25 strength that tanks you well and makes you really durable late game, but if you lack a pusher or you want to help your team a little, this is a good item.

Aghanim's Scepter
Aghanim's Scepter is a very situational item, buy it if you're facing super tanks like Centaur Warrunner or Tidehunter. against squishy heroes Aghanim's Scepter is a waste of gold.

Orchid Malevolence
Although Huskar is not a utility hero but if no one else is going to buy this item when there is not a hero with silence in your team, Huskar is one of the best carrier of this item.
When should you buy This item? When there is no hero with silence in your team and there is a heavy caster like Invoker, Ogre Magi, etc Or there is a hero with decent escape mechanism like Blink, wave form, etc that needs to be silenced if it needs to be killed, this item comes in handy.
In manfights against nuker, disablers and heroes who can counter Huskar with certain spells, this item is your ace card and their worst nightmare that’s why Huskar is a good carrier of this item.

Abyssal Blade
You builds this item for the same reasons you build Orchid Malevolence but in this case you stun not silence. This item is infamous for being one of the most uncost efficient items of the game and the chances for its bash very low for ranged heroes but because of Huskars high attack speed, you have the chance of chain stunning your target in fights more than other ranged heroes. It also provides good regen and extra HP that makes you tankier.

Ghost Scepter
Before you yell and say only supports must take it, let me explain a little: This item is a great help when you are dealing with heroes who can deal ALOT OF Physical damage but little or no magical damage like Ursa, Faceless Void, etc; make them unable to attack you but allows you to attack them by casting Burning Spears manually.
In these scenarios building Heaven's Halberd is a better option, it increases your survivability and can be used in fights to disarm your enemy; But what happens if you have had a bad early game and you can't afford the expensive Heaven's Halberd? In these rare cases buying Ghost Scepter is the next best thing.

Divine Rapier
Let's make the game a lot more interesting.
Pro: +330 damage is totally game breaking and can save your team and game when everything looks disappointing and gray.
Con: If you get caught by the mood and die then their carry take your hard earned Divine Rapier, you and your team are screwed.
But look at the bright sight, more damage means more lifesteal and more life steal means you can survive terrible situations, that's why it is good to build Satanic and take 15% lifesteal talent when you want to build this item.
Don't even think about building this item if there are a lot of disablers in the enemy team (We are talking about games that there is a hard disabler like Bane or Lion and at least one decent disabler like Wraith King or beast master) if you can't attack and steal life, you die FAST.

Gem of True Sight
There is an annoying Riki or Bounty Hunter in enemy team? Their Legion Commander is building a Shadow Blade? Then buy a Gem of True Sight and since you are a tanky hero, you are a perfect carrier of it. Play safe and let your team benefit from true sight as much as possible and try not to die, not until their invisible hero or Shadow Blade carrier is dead. Don't panic if you've lost your gem, you can easily take it back, just plan a gank and do it with one or two partners cause you can never know where their invincible hero is when you are not carrying Gem of True Sight.

Boots of Travel
This is a late game item when you want maximum movement speed available and global presence.
This item is mostly a last build option when you are floating in gold and just want some more movement speed. But in cases in late game or ultra late game where teamfights are longer and your job is to be the meat shield and soak as much damage as possible and die ( so your team mates can survive and kill enemy heroes ) then buy back and return to teamfights, Boots of Travel comes in handy.
PRO TIP: You can use Boots of Travel as a farming tool. Teleport to a tower and farm the incoming creep wave.

Pros / Cons

Pros
  • Can output incredible amounts of damage
  • Strong laning presence
  • Not mana dependent at all
  • Strong ganker
  • Scales well with items
  • Hard to take him out with magic damage
Cons
  • Vulnerable to Physical, Pure and HP Removal damage type, Silence, Stun and Disarm
  • Item dependant
  • Burning Spear and Life Break drain his own life
  • Very Low Starting armor
  • Short range on attack
  • Blade Mail counters Huskar really bad

About the modern build

The Burning Chill was something i wanted to try for a long time and it became possible after Patch 7.00. its rule is simple: stack as much Burning Spear as possible when the enemy's attack and movement speed is slowed.
This Brand new build is focused on attack speed, attack range and passive teamfight method. it will reach its full potential when you buy Eye of Skadi that fully stacks with lifesteal or Burning Spear. this build is magnificent during the Mid-late game stages very high attack speed and remarkable tankiness makes Huskar a very durable hero with a Huge killing potential.

Pros
  • Amazing anti melee hero capability.
  • Can deal an enormous amount of Physical and Magical Damage.
  • Extra range makes your laning much safer.
  • Great for killing heroes who don't have an escape mechanism.
Cons
  • Needs early kills or good farm to be able to build Dragon Lance on time.
  • Doesn't work well against casters who stand and fight

Brave Travelers Tell Stories of A Legendary Warrior Who Freezes The Heart of His Enemies And Burns Their Untouchable Souls

Early game

Last Hit Deny Harass
These are the things you must be doing in early stages, if you want to shine in mid game you must have a good early game.
Huskars attack damage makes last hitting a bit of a challenge, you can turn one of you Gauntles of strength into a Bracer OR you can buy Blades of Attack, this way you can rush the Armlet of Mordiggian and get some damage and ease the farming process.
After the Helm of dominator change there is a 950 gold and 5 armor gap in Huskar's core; after a lot of research and matches i find Platemail the best replacement for the Helm of Iron Will it costs 350 more gold but it gives you 10 armor and it will turn into Assault Cuirass later on.
The other armor option is the Medallion of Courage Which gives you +7 armor and mana regen, this item can turn into the Solar Crest that gives you nice armor and evasion and a tactical active.
Huskar is pretty decent during the laning phase, especially against melee heroes. their Stout Shield does nothing against Burning Spear you can easily harass them when they want to last hit the creeps,Make sure you are manually casting them on targets and not autocasting it to avoid creep aggro and to increase its range by 50. this way you make farming a nightmare for them AND by doing this you make them waste their consumables or return to their fountain which is costly for them.
you can go mid or safe lane, i personally prefer safe lane, Because as soon as i get armlet and boots i talk to the mid laner and gank the mid, 70% of times i get the kill which means more gold for me. after that you can change lane for farm or ganks, your choice.
PRO TIPS: use armlet toggles for easy last hits.
Do not underestimate the power of Burning Spear it can give you easy kills remember! Huskar is super deadly even with out Life Break, with a stun/disable from you lane partner and 5 stack of Burning Spear you can get First Blood with ease.

Jungling

Jungling is a fast way to complete your core items, now you can get bounty runes and clear camps at the same time, you can also plan ganks and kill those lonely heroes.
pick a Quelling Blade and a Stout Shield for a faster result, buy a Tango if you want to clear hard camps or ancients, pick those bounty runes as soon as they respawn. And be extra careful if the is a Zeus or Bloodseeker in Enemy team.

Roshan

SOLO Roshan
Patch 7.00 made Roshan A LOT more different than what it used to be and now he is much harder to solo, But It's still possible. Before this epic patch, You could solo Roshan just with an Armlet of Mordiggian but now It's much trickier than before and I'm going to show how:

You may ask why so expensive, The reason is the huge changes on the Roshan that have made him very hard to solo in early-mid game. Armlet of Mordiggian gives you armor and damage, Morbid Mask and Platemail make you fight longer in His Pit. It's better to solo him at level 10 when you have at least 2 levels of Inner Vitality and Berserker's Blood and max Burning Spear.
When The Rules Are Against You, Cheat
We are living in Patch 7.00 era, so sticking to the old habits is just stupid.
Shrines and Runes are your best friends so you MUST use them efficiently.
When you reach Level 10 or when you get The right items, Buy a TP and go for Roshan, Be sure both of the shrines are available. Use both magical and physical damage to hurt him and when your health becomes critically low TP to the furthest shrine whether you are in the Radiant or Dire, Regenerate then go back to him and when you get close to death for the second time run toward the closest Shrine or TP on it, Regenerate and get back to him for the last time.
Runes That are a great help are Rune of Double Damage and Rune of Regeneration, Rune of Double Damage helps you to kill him on the first or second try and Rune of Regeneration works like an extra shrines.

Solo?

After patch 7.xx, Defeating Roshan has become much harder. so instead of solo him in min 15 with a lot of potential risks, you can do it in min 10 with a partner in a easier, safer and also cheaper way. So here I'm going to show you some good partners:

Wraith King
He is your best partner for killing Roshan, He's tanki, has a GREAT lifesteal aura and can deal a lot of damage to Roshan and best of all, you can go for Roshan the moment you both get your Armlet of Mordiggian.

Lich
He can not deal much damage to roshan But he can make him deal much less damage to you. His frost armor gives you a lot of armor and a great attack speed slow that make Roshans damage and bashes become something laughable.

Io
He is not much of a friend for Huskar but when it comes to Roshan, He's one of a kind. Overcharge grants you mass amount of attack speed and damage reduction and when thing are going bad Just Relocate to the fountain then return and finish the job.

Tidehunter, Timbersaw

If I want to describe them I can only say one thing TANKI. They both can take as much damage as possible, Reactive Armor make Timbersaw stand till the end and help you to take Roshan down in safety same goes for Tidehunter because of his natural tankiness and Kraken Shell.
These are you best partners for killing Roshan of course I could mention Sven and his Warcry or other Tanky heroes with healing like Undying and Omniknight or even Pudge. but the Heroes, Mentioned above are just the best.

Mid game

This is your time to shine you have your treads, lifesteal, armor and Armlet. You can pretty much solo most heroes. Find a lonely hero, use Inner Vitality if possible, Life Break on the enemy, activate your Armlet of Mordiggian.
There are Two possibilities in this situation: 1) Eneny tries to run which is impossible because of Life Break's slow and stacks of Burning Spear there is no place to go but hell.
2) Enemy starts to manfight. In this case stack as much Burning Spear as possible if Enemy is getting the upper hand cast Inner Vitality on your self and steal life, in the end Enemy dies from his burning wounds or his spear wounds.

In 2 vs 2 situations the build 2 comes in really handy, the Dragon Lance gives you 140 more attack range and it helps you to stack a lot of Burning Spear. if your lane partner is a tanky melee hero like Sven tell him to attack the enemy heroes and grab their attention, while they are attacking him, cast Inner Vitality on him then stack as many Burning Spears as you can,Remember: 10 stacks of Burning Spear deals 1600 damage in total and you can stack more than that.
if they realize the threat and start to run you can simply Life Break on the untouched one. it takes some practice and team work and it's mostly successful.
If your lane partner is disabler/silencer like Lion or Drow Ranger you can use the oldschool way of ganking with Huskar: you cast Inner Vitality on yourself then you LifeBreak on the Enemy, your lane partner will disable or silence both of them, if they run they die, if the stand and fight they die.
Pro Tips: harass the enemies with Burning Spear a few times to lower their health then start a gank.
Make a short code for the combo for your lane partner.
In teamfights do not initiate, not until late game when you are very tanky. after Patch 6.85's nerf on Berserker's Blood, Huskar lost much of its reputation as an anti nuke, these days Huskar is Counters by magical nukes easily, not to mention disables which has been Huskar's worst enemy since the beginning of time.

Late game

Behold the final stages of the game.
Despite of the fact that Huskar is a semi-carry, he is a strong hero in late game where Hard carries like Anti-Mage are dominating the whole game.
Some people say " Huskar falls off late game", but with good attack speed, tankiness and right counter items will allow you to one on one an enemy hard carry, or jump in the middle of a teamfight, soaking as much physical and magical damage as possible.

Man Fights

1 vs 1 Battles in late game can be super easy or super hard, if you are dealing with hard carries like Phantom Assassin, you may have a hard time dealing with them because of their damage.
If you're dealing with semi-carries, It's probably an easy battle, because most of them just fall off like Bloodseeker.
although most of the heroes you encounter have higher armor than you, their magic resistance is still 25%, that's why with high attack speed Burning Spear Never falls off. 20 stacks of Burning Spear deals 3200 magical damage, that's HUGE not to mention the physical damage do deal which is great as well.
PRO TIPS AND TRICKS
Against Hard carry Heroes with high Right-Click Damage like Phantom Assassin Build armor, Assault Cuirass is a great option, since it provides a lot of armor, an amazing armor reduction aura and nice attack speed the other choice is the underrated Solar Crest, it gives you nice evasion, armor and a useful active, Another option is Blade Mail, all you need to do is to activate it an see her killing her self with crits. the combination of Assault Cuirass and Eye of Skadi is a GREAT counter against these type of heroes.
Against heroes with remarkable magical damage like Outworld Devourer build Black King Bar and Heart of Tarrasque or Eye of Skadi. skadi is preferred because of its great passive and the tankiness that provides.
Dragon Lance + Eye of Skadi is a great combo against melee heroes who come to kill. freeze and burn them until they reach you then Life Break on it and make him regret his action.
Against Heroes with Blade Mail, build Satanic, you will gain more life than you loss because of it's amazing active. since Huskar's weakness to Blade Mail is known for everyone, smart players build this item a lot when they face Huskar, show them your smarter.

TEAMFIGHTS
Now that you have right items, it's time to blow some brains.
In a team fight Life Break the Enemies Tankiest hero, you're no longer a passive teamfighter, you are the teams tank, The Meatshield, the one who bears the pain just to keep other team members untouched, so your first priority is to survive, in this case stealing life is more important than burning people.
Inner Vitality, Lifesteal, good armor, nice HP and magic resistance you are truly the tankiest hero of the match and you are way too dangerous to be saved for last. with slow of skadi and the extra attack range from talent and Dragon Lance you can even kill the supports who stand in a safe distance.
Some players build Blade Mail on Huskar, this is BAD, in late game teamfights you are meant to tank damage whether it's magical or physical not to escape from it, some say "This way they hurt them selves more than me" yeah on the paper its right but in reality it isn't. No one attacks a hero with active Blade mail in a teamfight.
Eye of Skadi and Satanic are truly game changing in teamfights and they can turn the table in a blink.
Be sure to have full health if the enemy team's total damage is going to be a lot more physical than magical, if it's an opposite case its better to have 75% of your total HP.

Friends And Foes

Friends

Dazzle

He is Huskar's best friend because Dazzle provides EVERYTHING that Huskar needs. Weave gives to a large amount of armor that Huskar needs the most, his Shallow Grave keeps you alive when you are the most dangerous for 5 seconds, Shadow Wave heals you and damage the enemies around you and Poison Touch's slow and stun is really handy when you want to chase some poor soul. Huskar and Dazzle can take on an entire enemy team.

Oracle
Same as Dazzle, Oracle can keep you alive when you have maximum attack speed with False Promise, it also doubles the effect of Inner Vitality. Fate's Edict makes you enemies unable to attack, but it makes Burning Spears useless.

Omniknight
His Purification, heals you and deals pure damage to the enemies around you, Repels magic immunity is great against casters and nukers and physical immunity from Guardian Angel works very well with Huskar.

Drow Ranger
When it comes to carry heroes, Drow Ranger is obviously Huskars best friend, her Gust has a nice silence duration and knockback, Precision Aura give you a lot of damage and Frost Arrows are amazing in chasing situations.

Rubick
A great lane partner for Huskar that has the potential to do everything. Null Field is just perfect for Huskar for the same reason he is a great ally for Anti-Mage, It increases your already high magic resistance and make the casters against you cry. Fade Bolt decreases you enemies damage and covers your weakness against Physical damage. Telekinesis helps you to deal a lot of Physical and Magical damage.
Spell Steal is the signature spell of the Rubick and the whole game. He can throw your enemies spells back to them. Just him being in the lane makes you opponent reconsider using their spell. If they nuke you while you are ganking, he can nuke them back and makes an easy kill for you, If they disable you, well they just guaranteed their failure in the upcoming fights.

Sven
The combination of Storm Hammer and Burning Spear means easy early kills, his Warcry gives you a lot of armor and movement speed. when Huskar and Sven jump in the middle of a teamfight there is nothing to do but panic.

Jakiro
What's better than a lot of fire? a lot more fire! Dual Breath has a nice movement and attack speed slow and damage over time (DoT), Ice Path is a good AoE stun, Liquid Fire has an Enormous attack speed slow, Macropyre is like 10 stacks of Burning Spear but it's AoE. Jakiros all spell combo + Huskar = a lot of dead guys.

Wraith King
Patch 7.00 turned Vampiric Aura into the Right-Click heroes paradise, more lifesteal means more survivability, Wraith King is a tanky hero that is capable of sharing the incoming damage in teamfights with you.

Foes

In foes chapter, I will show you Huskars counters, their threats and how to deal with them with both items and tactics.

Phantom Lancer
Illusions are Huskars worst nightmare since all of his abilities are single target there isn't much you can do against him. He can create many Illusions that can deal tons of damage, He is also a Diffusal Blade carrier and feed back deals Physical damage and Diffusal Blade works on the Illusions as well.
ITEMS: Maelstrom is your first line of defense, Chain Lightning helps you find the real Phantom Lancer and kill his Illusions. He doesn't have any disables so you can build Hurricane Pike and escape whenever he get close to you with ease. If you want to go aggressive, build Silver Edge and attack him, without his great passives he is useless.
TACTICS: NEVER use Life Break on him unless you have got Silver Edge and you know your target is the real Phantom Lancer. AoE damage is Phantom Lancers best counter so stick with heroes with good AoE spell like Jakiro, Razor, Pugna, etc. and kill him in teamfights.

Chaos Knight
He has powerful crits, armor reduction, strong illusions, and a decent stun. his illusions have lifesteal and crits as well. Countering him is not as easy as Phantom Lancer.
ITEMS:buy Maelstrom to determine which Illusion is the real Chaos Knight. buy Assault Cuirass or Solar Crest for armor and tank up with Satanic or Eye of Skadi. Black King Bar blocks his Chaos Bolt and Reality Rift, but be aware of his lvl 25 talent that allows Reality Rift to pierce magic immunity.
TACTICS: Stay out of his sight and NEVER try to gank him, after patch 7.xx he has turned into a decent roamer so try not to be alone all the time.
In teamfights let him initiate and try to attack the real Chaos Knight. If there is a Lion or Pugna in your team, stick with them, Mana Drain, Hex and Life Drain instantly destroy illusions, and Chaos Knight is not a much of a problem without his illusions.

Dazzle
Your best friend can be your worst enemy. when it comes to Dazzle it's true. Weave reduces your already low armor and Shallow Grave means no early kills for you and Poison Touchs slow gives you a hard time chasing enemies.
Both Poison Touch and Shadow Wave deal Physical damage. The damage dealt is small but when your armor is getting closer and closer to zero because of Weave, that small amount of damage can be deadly.
TACTICS: BE FAST. Both Poison Touch and Weave take some time to be effective so you can escape him or kill him before it’s too late. He might look like a hard to kill hero because of Shallow Grave but remember duration of Burning Spear is longer than Shallow Grave.

Lifestealer
He is a formidable foe. His magic immunity makes your Burning Spear useless, his feast turns your tankiness against you by stealing and dealing damage for a percentage of your health and open wound out lifesteals you and slows you for 8 seconds which is huge.
ITEMS: Avoid buying a Heart of Tarrasque that raise your health and increases Lifestealers life steal and damage dealt to you. Satanic is an excellent item against Lifestealer, it gives you +75 damage and a lot of lifesteal that helps you out lifesteal him. Eye of Skadi goes through Rage and with a Dragon Lance you can easily kite him.
TACTICS: You have the upper hand against him. Lifestealer steals less health and does less damage as your current HP gets lower, On the other hand Huskar gets does more Physical and Magical damage and steals more health with lower HP.
Time your ganks and use Life Break on him when Rage is on cooldown, you can dispel Open Wounds with Life Break.

Phantom Assassin
She is a right-click hero with high Physical damage output, Blur gives her A LOT OF evasion that makes her hard to kill, with Phantom Strike she is able to gank you and escape easily and she can get INSANE crits with Coup de Grace which is the games best crit skill, she can't deal much damage mid game because of armor you have built but in late game she can really hurt you.
ITEMS: Consider buying Blade Mail or Solar Crest for armor and more survivability. Solar Crest is a better option, Coup de Grace has a low happening chance so evasion makes this chance much less. build Monkey King Bar to laugh at her blurry face or Silver Edge that removes Phantom Assassins Blur and Coup de Grace and makes her easier to kill.
TACTICS: Your early and mid game is much stronger than hers, so ganks her many times to ensure a weak late game for her and tell your teammates to focus her for the same reason.
If you are laning against her try to harass her as much as possible and don't let her farm at all, Use the fact that she is a hard carry against her.
Try not to run away from her when she phantom strikes on you cause she can keep chasing you with it, stand and fight, lifesteal and natural tankiness are on your side and since Coup de Grace chance is low, you've got luck on your side as well.

Slardar
Another definition of Physical damage and stun is Slardar. He has a short ranged AoE stun and a passive stun in his attacks meaning that you can be stunned for a long period of time while he attacks you with your reduced armor.
ITEMS: He has one of the best single target armor reductions in the game so you need to build a lot of armor. Solar Crest and Assault Cuirass are great. Solar Crest gives you nice armor and evasion and helps you survive his attacks. Assault Cuirass gives you more armor but no evasion but it has a good armor reduction aura and attack speed that helps you kill him (Yes you can kill him in manfights, you just need armor).
TACTICS: NEVER use Life Break on him, he is a Blink Dagger carrier so let him attack you instead, he can bash you for several times, recuse your armor and deal huge amount of damage BUT you can restore your health with Inner Vitality and lifesteal so don’t panic and never try to run away from him cause he can chase you with increased movement speed and catch you.
In early game buy Orb of Venom to kite him and misuse the fact he is a melee hero, he is a core utility hero who needs to farm so take away his HP and gold by harassing him countless times.

Wraith King
High Physical damage? Check, Lifesteal? Check, A decent stun and slow? Check and the ability it cheat death? Check. Wraith King can make a lot of trouble for you
ITEMS: Armor is your best friend. Build Assault Cuirass or Solar Crest or both. Out lifesteal him by building Satanic, it tanks you up and helps you gain your HP back after killing him with its amazing active. Heaven's Halberd counters him hard and provides good survivability with nice slow and evasion.
TACTICS: Laning against him is easy because of your ranged attacks, harasses and high mana cost of his Wraithfire Blast but your ganks can be really hard, he can deal tons of Physical damage with Mortal Strike and can come back to life with Reincarnation and keep attacking you. That’s where Satanic come in handy, he can come back with full health? So you can.
He is a Blink Dagger carrier so just like any other Blink Dagger carrier, let him initiate then attack him, unfortunately he has a great in built lifesteal aura so you don’t have that good lifesteal advantage you’ve got against most heroes.
He has the upper hand in almost everything against you but he is not your worst counter and hear is the reason: He Almost Always Dies Whenever He Ganks You And He Tries To Finish The Job After Coming Back To Life. Before he returns to life and stun you with Wraithfire Blast, you can cast Inner Vitality and try to steal some life until he show up then Life Break on him and attack till your last breath. With good items you survive victorious, with bad farm and bad items you die.
The manfight between you two is much longer than other manfights so you better ask for help whenever he blinks in your face (If you don’t wish to die).

Legion Commander
This woman can really ruin your farm by forcing you to stay on full health. She deals a lot of physical damage and she is a Blade Mail carrier, Press the Attack dispel your Life Breaks slow and is a good heal in early-mid game, Moment of Courages life steal makes her REALLY durable in Duels and during the Duel you only rely on lifesteal for healing unless you had the chance to activate Inner Vitality.
ITEMS: You can build Blade Mail, Assault Cuirass or Solar Crest, Blade Mail returns her attacks to herself, Assault Cuirass gives you tons of armor and weakens her armor and Solar Crest helps you dodge lot of her attack with evasion. Satanic is your lifesteal option aganist her, it tanks you up and helps you survive her Duels with both its passive and active. She is a Blade Mail carrier so if you don’t want to build Satanic, build Black King Bar instead, magic immunity blokes return damage from Blade Mail.
TACTICS: She normally builds Shadow Blade or Blink Dagger as a core item so she has the element of surprise, If you see she is building a Shadow Blade, buy a Gem of True Sight and ruin her ganks. But if she builds a Blink Dagger, you are in trouble. when she blinks in your face out of nowhere you have less than half a second to choose between Inner Vitality, Blade Mail or Satanic to activate. Activate Inner Vitality or Satanic if your have low hp. activate Blade Mail if you're doing well and want some extra damage and gold. KEEP AN EYE ON MINI MAP if you don’t see her on the mini map, stay cautious, better to cast Inner Vitality just in case and remember farming is not worth dying, you are not a hard carry. When you see her in the enemy team, make someone in your team to pick Oracle or Dazzle these two are Legion Commanders hardest counters and your best friend.

Broodmother
The mother of the year! Her Spiderlings are your biggest problem and aside from her spiderlings, her other skills are so annoying as well. Spiderling Poison Sting slow and Incapacitating Bite slow and miss chance and Insatiable Hunger bonus damage and lifesteal makes her one on Huskars best counters. Spin Webs Bonus Health Regeneration makes Burning Spears have less effect.
ITEMS: Build Maelstrom to kill her spiderlings then build Monkey King Bar for her Incapacitating Bite miss chance and Assault Cuirass for its armor and armor reduction aura that hurts her spiderlings so bad. Buy a Gem of True Sight and ask supports to buy Sentry Ward.

Ancient Apparition
This guy is a pain. His Cold Feet deals decent damage and stun, Ice Vortex reduces your magic resistance, Chilling Touch slows your attack speed and deals a lot of damage on you and worst of all his Ice Blast makes you rely only on lifesteal for healing and with its global range you are never safe.
ITEMS: Build Satanic for its lifesteal and active and raw HP it provides. Black King Bar blocks most of his spells and gives you some strength.
TACTICS: Try to stay on 2/3 of your health and be careful when your health goes low sacrifice your fast farming for survivability and gank him only when his Cold Feet and Ice Blast is on cooldown.
If your are caught with Ice Blast try to find a target to steal life from, anything is welcome from creeps to jungle camp. Remember lifesteal is your only source of health while having Ice Blast on you.

Lina, Lion, Shadow Shaman

Welcome to the disablers/nukers club. these heroes can disable you and nuke you to death with three different type of damage: Aghs Lina deals mass amount of Pure damage, Lion deals high Magical damage and Shadow Shaman deals a lot of Physical damage.
ITEMS: Black King Bar is a must for countering these heroes in both offensive and defensive way. the best way to deal with nukers is to tank up, Heart of Tarrasque is one of the best options available, Satanic and Eye of Skadi are the next best thing.
Linken's Sphere is use full though but if your facing a smart player, he/she will pop you Linken's Sphere up with one of his spells and nuke you then.
Note: Mass Serpent Ward can be escaped with Phase Boots.

Windranger
She can stun you, deal A LOT OF Physical damage and run away when you want to fightback. Shackleshot usually has it's maximum stun duation and her Windrun is a great escape mechanism that can be countered with Monkey King Bar and worst of all Focus Fire deals a lot of Physical damage with maximum attack speed and it will have almost full damage when she builds Aghanim's Scepter.
ITEMS: Build a lot of armor, Assault Cuirass and Blade Mail are just great. She usually builds blood thorn so Solar Crest is useless against her.
Monkey King Bar counters her Windrun and she can become useless if you build Heaven's Halberd and disarm her after stun.
TACTICS: After building Monkey King Bar, plan a gank. Use Life Break on her and stand and fight. You have the lifesteal and tankiness advantage and if you’ve got Blade Mail you can be sure of your victory or her flee.

Templar Assassin
She is an underrated counter of Huskar but that doesn't mean her threat is low for you. Refraction makes 3 to 9 attack of your useless on her (Her lvl 25 talent gives her +3 more refraction instances) and also grants her a lot more damage. Meld Deals high Physical damage and a crazy armor reduction that lasts for 10 seconds. Desolator is a core item on her and combination of Meld and Desolator takes 15 armor from you, that makes you melt in her hands.
ITEMS: This is where I suggest Solar Crest instead of Assault Cuirass because First: You can get it before she builds Desolator. Second: She may be able to take away your armor but she can't take your evasion, not until she builds Monkey King Bar, and by that time you must have a lot of life steal and HP. After building your Solar Crest, It is good to build Dragon Lance and Satanic, for more attack range and lifesteal.
The Double armor builds on Huskar which are quite popular in pro meta are her ultimate counter, If you want to go for it, The combination of Assault Cuirass and Solar Crest is the best that makes you Immune to Physical damage and make life like hell for right click heroes like her.

TACTICS: Your best advantage against her is your attack range and lifesteal. While laning against her, try to harass her as much as possible and gank her before she builds Desolator. She builds tons of DPS but no items for survivability so you have an advantage already. If you don’t see her on mini map, ping it and tell your squishy heroes to stay cautious.

Troll Warlord
One of Huskars worst enemies, his fast Physical damage output, stuns and Whirling Axes miss chance are the reasons.
ITEMS: He is commonly countered by Using Silver Edge to remove his bash and Fervor. Build Heaven's Halberd for more survivability and disarm him while Battle Trance is active. Monkey King Bar is a must buy item against him because of whirling axes miss chance.
Try not to gank him or get ganked by him until you build proper items.

Bristleback
He deals a lot of Physical damage and reduces your armor with Viscous Nasal Goo, his back reduce a large amount of Your damage (That even Includes Burning Spears). By spamming Viscous Nasal Goo he gets a lot of damage from Warpath.
ITEMS: Don't hesitate to buy Heaven's Halberd and Silver Edge against him And Do not attack him while his Blade Mail is active. Build Hurricane Pike if you want to escape his attack.
TACTICS: Do Not use Life Break on him unless you have a death wish. He is a Blade Mail carrier that's another reason for being Huskars counter. Use your ranged attacks and Kite him with Burning Spears and Orb of Venom and do it until his HP gets low enough for a safe Life Break.

Omniknight
Just like Dazzle he is your best friend and your worst enemy, his Purification is a great heal and a Pure damage nuke, it also makes you Burning Spear stacks have less efficiency, Guardian Angel Physical damage immunity makes you ganks like hell and makes you run away until it’s over.
Tell your team mates to build Diffusal Blade to purge his ult, a hero with silence works well against Omniknight as well.

Ursa
Ursa is one of the best manfighters That is able to take down Roshan at low levels by his Overpower and Fury Swipes even after huge changes on roshan from patch 7.xx.
ITEMS: Get your core and then build Heaven's Halberd, It is the best counter item for Ursa, although people think only supports must buy ghost specter against right click heroes, carries can buy it instead of super expensive Heaven's Halberd too . Silver Edge is another great item that allows you to kite take away his Fury Swipes and his Enrage when active. His Enrage removes debuffs Life Breaks slow and disarm so use Heaven's Halberd or ghost specter after he use his Enrage.

Witch Doctor
He counters Huskar better than any other support. He has a nice stun, Nice DOT (Damage Over Time) and a great Physical damage nuke.
Paralyzing Cask stuns you for quite a long time and his Death Ward deals a lot of physical damage. ITEMS: You can tank Death Ward with Assault Cuirass or Solar Crest, but don't buy Blade Mail, The damage dealt to primary target of Death Ward won't return to Witch Doctor only damage death to the non-primary target will return.
Monkey King Bar is a nice counter against him, the mini stuns will disrupt his channeling ult.

Monkey King
New Hero, New Enemy. Monkey King deals mass amount of physical damage and has a decent stun. Jingu Mastery has a nice bonus damage and lifesteal and do not underestimate Wukong's Command power, you can die in a blink.
ITEMS: Build armor. That double armor build counters him greatly, Heaven's Halberd allows you to disarm him while his jingo mastery is active. Build Hurricane Pike, for 2 reasons: 1) Its great escape mechanism 2) While Wukong's Command is active, cast it on Monkey King and push him out of the circle, so Wukong's Command will be stopped.

Conclusion

Now here we are at the end of this guide, I hope i could have teach you something about this amazing, easy to play and fun hero.
