Armlet of Mordiggian is an item that is pretty much exclusively used by strength heroes like Huskar and Wraith King players who have yet to discover the existence of Blink Dagger. But I've been wondering, is there a single non-strength hero in the game on which getting armlet makes sense? Perhaps on manfighters like Ursa or Troll Warlord? Or maybe on a frontline hero like Spectre? Or is armlet simply tailor-made for heroes of the strength persuasion?

While strength heroes do get the most benefit from it (due to the bonus primary stat damage) it's actually viable on quite a wide range of heroes. Anyone who wants to both right click, and boost their survivability with a pretty cheap midgame item.

The biggest issue is that there's no upgrade path for it, so it's a dead-end item on a lot of cores, hence why it's avoided by many unless they've got a really good synergy (e.g. Huskar, Wraith King, Lifestealer, etc).

Some non strength heroes it can be good on (assuming you're playing midgame space creator, snowballer, or need to finish early):

Bloodseeker, Phantom Assassin, Slark, Medusa (not sure if the build is still legit, but it was Armlet into Bloodstone)

If you live by armlet toggling, it's legit on a lot of heroes.

The combat stats (+40 damage, +25 attack speed) on an agility hero are pretty unimpressive compared to similar items ( Maelstrom typically, which gives 54 "damage" in average and 25 attack speed, while also increasing your farm). However it does give 5 armor which is pretty nice, but seriously the big benefit of it is to abuse armlet toggling to stay alive. Especially on an agility hero the effective HP you get from it can be pretty high...if you like toggling your armlet.

For me armlet is just a damage item, so I'm not a fan. But that's just me. Here it's not a question of math, but a question of armlet fanboyism.

See, what a fanboy would do is buy it on Crystal Maiden. Because you can armlet toggle during channeling skills :)

Armlet of Mordiggian used to be legit on Ursa with the old ult, because the ult scales on max hp, and armlet gives extremely cheap str on top of other things.

Now, I think that broodmama, and maybe jug would be the only non-str heroes where armlet woupd be good

Non-Strength Armlet carriers eh? I don't buy the item much anymore because I suck at toggling, but I guess I'll throw a die or two into the theory pot.

Terrorblade and Naga Siren both can probably find a use for them, the activation illusion for CK is what makes him arguably better with Armlet than Huskar. It's probably better on TB, since he's more of a fighter than Naga and he's significantly squishier. Phantom Lancer it doesn't apply to as much due to "500% damage" and also because he doesn't have a single cast spell to summon all his illusions.

Razor may have a use for it, since it can be a very useful burst of health, it can help him survive pretty long, and he is all about tank items anyway.

Enchantress may also be an option, since she can negate the health loss with her healing power, and she benefits from the burst health to counteract her weakness of nukers.

Slark I believe I've seen it on a few times in the past, since Slark is rather weak to getting nuked down, and he can also negate the degen of armlet and protect himself with Shadow Dance. Hurts his late carrying potential a lot, but makes his midgame twice as strong.

I'm gonna try this asap and come back with the results, because this post convinced me. I will probably suck at toggling as well, but it's worth the try.

The problem of armlet is health drain. When active, Unholy Strength grants +31 damage and +25 strength, but drains 40 health per second. This is the reason why armlet is built on strength heroes who has a way to quick regen like WK, Husker or LC, their regen ability is built in skills and don't need any extra items for that. One exception is CK but as he is a strength hero he has huge HP pool and he uses armlet to boost his illusions HP.

I think armlet was made for making tanks bigger and for making regen heroes be useful.
However, On other heroes that benefit from a fast gank\kill (For example Pa and Slark) Armlet can help them last longer in a fight and helps them deal more DPS.
The health drain is a concern, but if they have 2000+ health while activated or finish the fight quickly, the armlet can work pretty well.
Also life steal helps shave off the drain as well, but only if it's a right-click DPS hero.
