Hey guys!
I made some new friends on Dota 2. I've been playing for a few months, and we've created a team. Often, we find ourselves in the trouble of picking a good 5 man team. What I'm trying to say here is, I need a good 5 hero combination team. Any suggestions? With explanations and roles appreciated :D

sry to say, but this is not how this site works ....you cant just simply ask for us to draft for you! picking your lineup is dependant on many factors like a.) your gameplay plan; b.) player preferences (or at least what about what your team is confdidnt with) and c.) the enemy lineup. There is no such thing as a hero-combinaton that will work in every game, so try using your own head, or read some hero-picking guide.

wow lobster calm down a bit mate. hes just asking for help which we at dotafire are more then happy to do :)

so part of what lobster says is true but...

what type of draft are you looking for? pushing? team fight? gank?

have you guys sorted out what role each of you will play?

what type of dota do you guys like to play as a team?

lots of factors at play but just off the top of my head...

Tidehunter solo offlane
Razor mid
Ancient Apparition solo safelane support
Jakiro solo safelane support
Spectre Hard carry safelane

this is a pretty strong team, you have global presence team fight push and some serious early and late game and mid game. the only thing you lack is ganking.

anyway hope that helps.

I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL.... WITH FLUFFY BUNNIES

If you're looking to improve your drafting technique, try watching competetive games and see how they organise their teams. Sometimes the casters will even talk about the lineups and how certain heroes work with or against other Heroes.

A few general tips though:-

Try to have no more than 1 Hero who needs 2 large Items + Boots in order to be effective ( Anti-Mage, Medusa, Spectre, Luna, etc.)
Try to have no more than 2 Heroes who needs 1 large Item + Boots in order to be effective ( Storm Spirit, Magnus, Legion Commander, Tidehunter, etc.
Try to have no more than 2 Heroes who can be effective with just Boots and a Magic Stick ( Skywrath Mage, Vengeful Spirit, Shadow Demon, Dazzle, etc.)

Always have someone who can jump in and start a fight (without Items): Faceless Void, Clockwerk, Centaur Warrunner , Timbersaw, etc.
Always have someone who can swing teh fight back in your favour if you get jumped on: Earthshaker, Venomancer, Kunkka, Jakiro etc.

Try to have someone who can Farm and Split-Push quickly and effectively: Natures Prophet, Shadow Fiend, Lycan, Death Prophet, etc.
Try to have something that can lockdown a hero even while they're Magic Immune: Berserker's Call, Fiend's Grip, Duel, Viper Strike, etc.
Try to have someone who melts Towers easily: Shadow Fiend, Dragon Knight, Invoker ( Quas- Exort), Pugna, etc.

well ...you are right ofc ...but the "question" itsself is very rude imo. He isnt really asking about gameplay advice (or even drafting advice for that matter). To me it sounds an awfull lot like "i dont want/can do it... so plz do it for me". But maybe i just understood it wrong >.>

if so, let me share some insight as well :3

1.
usually - when drafting an all-around team - you want to maintain a strong gameimpact in every stage of the game (early, mid and late). So picking 2 supports for your early game, 1-2 heroes for the midgame and 1-2 carries to cover your lategame, seems like a good choice.

2.
What is your prefered gameplay plan? Do you want to win teamfigts? then go for a team with strong aoe spells and overall synergy. Sand King + Venomancer + Puck + Gyrocopter + Tidehunter could be a decent combination for instance. Do you want to go early pushing? then you might consider having a midgame-centric lienup like: Death Prophet / Shadow Shaman / Terrorblade / Windranger / Leshrac. You get the idea for building a ganking- or "4 protect 1"-lineup.

3. Does the enemy team have some heroes that are hard to deal with? Heroes like Omniknight or Invoker can have huge game impact if unaccounted for, so getting heroes that are good carries for Diffusal Blade - for omni - or Black King Bar for - voker - are a good way of dealing with them.

Although I think Lob is right, you might not be good with picking, but you'll be better with time with drafting. It's not a good idea to take already prepared lineups. It might work, but if you want to learn the proper way, you need to understand the counterpicks and the adaptions with all the other factors that will influence your draft. Who cares if it takes time?
Yes it helps when you're super new, but you need to get your own opinions, yes you'll have **** picks and you'll get ****ed over, but dont gg afk in base learn what went wrong in your draft, because believe it or not a game depends more of the draft than the skills.

Hope it made you realize

See, i'd be better if you pr question was like, what combos work well on a comp game, or how could I counter pick these heroes/team. The draft is different, GOOD.

Edit:damn, so much answers in such little time
