So i was watching a game last night, can't recall wich or who or when, but thats not important.
The important thing is that there was an Abaddon playing and an Axe in the opposite team.

Axe kept killing Abaddon without his ulti passivle popping up, due to the killthreshold of Culling Blade it is a bit higher than abbadon's threshold.

Therefore
in my opinion, Axe is a good "counterpick" (in that match atleast) for succesfully negating the ulti of Abaddon.
Tho abbadon didn't manually use his ulti (wich could've prevented that).

But i think Axe is a good counter for Abaddon

what do you think?

Its good unless Abaddon is actually smart and manually uses his ultimate.

true, but in the game I watched that didn't happen.

btw does silence or stun prevent the passive activation of his ultimate?

Not even Doom.It removes Doom upon passive activation.

Hey... Speaking of health thresholds, has anyone tried Ancient Apparition against him yet? Ice Blast prevents regen and kills heroes that are below 10% HP. Not sure if it works on Borrowed Time, but its quite an effective counter in theory.

A powerfull nuke like laguna blade can kill him before the passive activation of his ultimate happens.

But even if you manually cast Borrowed Time, won't Axe's ult purge it first?

Any Nuke that does above 400 Damage after reduction can kill Abaddon without triggering his Ultimate.

Culling Blade kills Abaddon even if his ultimate is active:
- Health below kill threshhold?
- If Yes then -> Purge EVERYTHING, and kill!

Regarding Ice Blast
that i do not know... haven't seen it happen :D
But to kill with it Abaddon Needs to be much lower than 400 Health

Also there is a way to trick the passive activation of Borrowed Time to not trigger when using Armlet of Mordiggian... although it would activate on next hit (have seen it on stream)

I guess Ice Blast would kill if you armlet toggle...

I would expect that Borrowed Time purges Ice Blast on activation, since it's a debuff similar to Doom.

Axe's Culling Blade goes through literally everything ( Shallow Grave as well). Both grave and Borrowed Time are triggered heals (they heal immediately before applying any instances of damage - so anything that deals more damage than your HP pool in a single instance can beat it. Culling Blade deals something like 99,999 dmg when below threshold. Thats how it was in dota1 at least.

Idk about tricking the autoactivation (you mean getting below 400 without activating, right?). I think it would still autoactivate at the first damage instance once you're below 400 anyway, though (as if it were just getting off CD?)

It might even be possible to remove Ice Blast with Aphotic Shield - since this also removes pretty much every negative buff on casting (haven't tested this though)

Axe is the greatest counter to Abaddon, that I can tell you, but if the player who picked the Lord od Avernus is clever and fast enough, even he can give a hard time to Axe, other than that I recommend Lion or Lina with Shadow Blade, that is also a great way to kill him without activating Borrowed Time, the only thing is that you have to calculate really well before unleashing Laguna Blade or Finger of Death.
