Second game was just a wombo combo draft that didn't work. Not much to say here, no lockdown possible against Ember and Storm who have instant escape skills with zero cast point that allows them to reliably escape Blink Dagger- Chronosphere (we're literally in "icefrog pls" territory there, I've always been saying that zero cast point escape skills are OP as ****), and no reliable damage in chrono either.
For the record I asked for Doom or Legion Commander offlane, because no lockdown no win. Got Void, which is notoriously bad against instant escape heroes as you can see pretty clearly in the replay (or in any competitive game where you see Voids missing every chrono against heroes like AM, and even AM has a cast point on blink). Couldn't make it work...don't think it was possible in the first place.
I could have gone Shadow Blade just to remove the cast point on chrono, which blink doesn't do. But even then we had no damage in chrono.

Draft was pretty much unplayable for me...you need heavy lockdown to deal with heroes like Ember and Storm and we didn't have any reliable way to disable them or even damage them...GG.

Or you could just get your Chrono off when I was in Sleight of Fist. And you had a Global Silence.

Okay so :

- Mask of nerfness was literally the worst item I could have gotten this game. What is MoM bad against? Burst damage. The enemy team had Lion and Storm Spirit. MoM is a horrible item against Storm because when you use it to farm a lane Storm jumps you and you just feed. I needed a farming item that was not MoM, Actually I agree Maelstrom wasn't optimal since you can't farm on your own when playing against Storm. Should have gone Hand of Midas.
Actually I need to remember that you should always go Midas to farm against Storm since it's your only way to farm against this hero without getting picked off.

- I tried going for pickoffs a lot in the early game but there was just no follow up. Our captain told Witch Doctor to go top a lot of times but he never came. Essentially I saw no Death Ward in this game. After every teamfight I saw the spell still off cooldown so I kind of lost hope. We had no damage in chrono since Silencer had no right-click and Void + Lesh just doesn't work.

- True, a pos 1 Silencer needed a Scythe of Vyse. and right-click damage like Moon Shard to deal some DPS in chrono. Aghanim's Scepter on Silencer is literally worthless. This item does nothing!
Always go refresher sheep on Silencer not aghs refresher. No matter his position, it's really core.
We needed sheeps in this game. Both Lesh and Silencer are natural sheep carriers and we had none.

And...this is exactly why I'm in a "**** you Icefraud" mood right now.

...Because I actually did exactly that. And wasted chrono. Actually did it twice IIRC. Last time was at the top rax fight. Two lodaspheres.

So yeah, when you chrono the remnant during Sleight of Fist, what happens is that ******** SPIRIT DOESN'T EVEN PHYSICALLY RETURN TO THE REMNANT'S LOCATION. He immediately jumps away from the location with zero cast point Activate Fire Remnant. Ember is never actually at the position of the remnant so he doesn't get chono'd...he just passes through the chrono in invulnerable form like he doesn't care and chrono does nothing. Same thing for Storm to a lesser extent. Spirits OP.

Saw some "**** you icefraud" hatespeech.
Dropped by to re-insinuate- THERE ARE NO ****ING 1v5 HEROES.
Get a good draft or go home.

I am going back to my analytics lab. Need to balance patch more. Thinking of tweaking some mechanics before this TI.

Kthxbai.

(does anyone know any good 1 position heroes for beginners?).

It's better to start out as a #2, you're still required to Farm up as quickly as some #1s in the Early Game, but there's less pressure to do so and it unlocks a wider variety of Heroes (including easy ones). Here are some good 1s and 2s (they can be either, but some, such as Viper, are better off as a 2)

A lot of these Heroes will Farm a Lane, then Farm Heroes - Bloodseeker, Huskar, Legion Commander, Lina, Necrophos and Viper in particular - half of them can clear out Jungle Camps, but your main focus, after getting 1 Core Item, should be Snowballing. This is one of the hardest things to learn in DOTA as make 2 mistakes in a short timeframe and you lose your Snowball potential.

It's still something you need to learn if you ever want to Carry a game though. Find a balance between aggressive actions like Ganking, and Passive actions like Split-Pushing and Jungling. Watch your Positioning and make sure you always have an escape plan (for example, in that Slark game, youlet teh Clockwerk get close enough that he could block your Pounce while you were in Power Cogs, you needed to back off BEFORE he could go on you).

Practise in lobbies to improve your Farming skills. Get 82 out of 82 Last Hits as Crystal Maiden / Io, keeping the Creep Wave away from the Towers. Practise lvl1 Jungling with several different Heroes, e.g. Troll Warlord, Storm Spirit, Nature's Prophet, Tidehunter - you'll be surprised how much you learn about Farming properly by doing this. Get used to using Helm of the Dominator if you're planning on playing a Carry that utilizes it, i.e. Luna, Gyro, or maybe Dragon Knight, Start at lvl1 with a Dominator and Stack the Ancients at 00:53 without missing more than 1 Last Hit in the process.

You should also try to improve your game knowledge to the point where you end up calculating how many Auto-Attacks + Skills you need to kill a Hero. Practise this by watching Pro games - just before a Gank is about tohappen, pause the game and see if you can guess who comes out on top, as well as how many Auto-Attacks it takes to secure the Kill (don't look at Hero levels or Items while you're doing this, look at their levels and Items during the game, this will also build up your map awareness).

One last thing, where do I go to pick up my "maelk award?" Do I get a special dotofire badge?

You failed, needed just a few more Deaths. No maelk award for you! 8[3

Was there someone flaming on your team in addition to Waloo's casual *****torm?

I was not trying to sound like a victim or complain, I just thought it would be nice to point this aspect out so we remember it before our games, I thought it could help :) I've now been in a few in-houses and I notice this pattern where less stressful and more silent games are more efficient (it was also my first loss in a in-house snif snif).

I've seen too many games where vibe and not skill won or lost the game, and in my opinion this was a real factor here - Faceless Void had a hard time due to it too, I sensed, besides the things you and him all pointed out. At a certain point in the game anything anyone said would be thought as offensive, even if it wasn't meant to be, and great opportunies just collapsed due to bad execution.

This said: Dimonychan, I now know you are Alenari, the Ember Spirit buahah I discovered your secret (was it ever). Since I had played with you before, I was not glad to see you shuffled in the opposite team, dude :P great plays anyway.

And great commentators, always trying to make the Storm Spirit shut up so we would't have salt even from the enemy team :D

lol ty :D

ive always said "you cant salt someone else's meal" meaning if your salty keep it in your team as soon as you start flaming in all chat you literally are now the worst person out of both teams. salt within your team is like "ok" but not try and salt someone else's meal... that aint right

I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL.... WITH FLUFFY BUNNIES
