I recently played a game of CM (I'm new to Captains Mode) and was picked captain. I was in the middle of a losing streak, but we won. Was it because I had good players on my team? Did we have a better draft? Did we play better? I don't know why we won, and I would appreciate it if I could be told what I did well/badly. The link is here

I picked suggested rubick, disruptor and zeus, and my team mates suggested PA and slardar. Match analysis/draft feedback would be appreciated.

You had a way better draft. The other team lost in the drafting phase.

Would of preferred to of seen some control items on you and your Zeus though. Like Euls or sheepstick.

I basically see your draft as this. PA is your hard carry. She's well farmed too. Slardar is your initiator with his blink and armor debuff.

Disruptor locks em down Zeus and PA nuke them down. You CC up any runners.

The other teams draft is horrid.

Clockwerk should never buy BF. I'm guessing he was trying to build into an AC. So I'm assuming they were trying to make Clockwerk their carry. Which he really isn't made for.

Their Sniper pick would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

I don't even see what type of strategy they were going for. Your side had good team fight synergy while theirs was a lot of nothing. I literally can not figure out how they expected to win. They didn't have team fight. Their not a ganking line up. They have very little in the way of pushing or split pushing. They don't have a late game carry.

You literally faced a team that lost the game by drafts end.

This is just based on the Stats I can see from DOTABuff, but my analysis on what won the match was probably...you.

Considering you did almost as much Tower Damage as a Slardar with a Desolator, I'm inclined to believe your Team didn't understand the importance of Pushing too well.

Aside from you, Disruptor and Dazzle, all the Item choices are..."special"...I mean COME ON!!! Clockwerk with a Battle Fury?!!! I won't bother listing what's wrong with everything else -_-

I like your Items tbh, a good Spell Steal gives you any extra lockdown you need, e.g. Astral Imprisonment is easy to steal. Blink Dagger + Force Staff is great on Rubick, since it lets you get in, do yo thang, and save people. Ghost Scepter was a good call, against an OD and a Sniper.

I am a little curious about the early Null Field though, they had very little Magical Damage, it was mostly Physical aside from Sanity's Eclipse...

LoL. What can I say. I'm a sucker for control items.

Only real problem that I saw is that the team didn't have a strong tower pushing line up. But as long as the team fight is going your way; then it's ok.

Sniper building Shadow Blade and Mask of Madness is just food for a Phantom Assassin that can blink right to him and carve him up in 2 hits once Slardar applied his ultimate.

That's their damage done, as the Outworld Devourer looks like he was building Assault Cuirass next...

There's also the abandonment of the only player, Dazzle, that could have kept Sniper alive long enough to deal damage, to think about.

Clockwerk was closer to the AC though...

IMO, the other team had a much better draft however you guys probably outplayed them or that the other team made too many mistakes (this seems to be the case). OD with little CS, Clockwerk probably didn't gank that much at level 6.

Tbh this totally looks like the dire captain wanted to go for some kind of cometitive lineup (except sniper^^) whilst his team had no idea how to play those hereos or what kind of strategy they were using .... MoM+SB sniper against Slardar / PA and Battlefurry Clockwork.

Itemprogression and EXP graph also kinda show the "strategy" the dire was using: "Min 15 we start teaming up and teamfight every time we can (even if we just lost 4 fights in a row)"...which btw is the most common thing people do in pubs.

Edit: If you went with 2-1-2 lanes this is a solid first draft btw. Good earlygame (thanks to 2 supports), 2 midgame dominators (slardar / Zeus) and a backup lategame carry (PA). Strong laneing stage. (considering you did go for 2-1-2)

urm you probably won because it was 4 v 5. Dazzle abandoned at level 9. Oh and the fact that they couldn't last hit for ****.
