Recently, I came to discover that Octarine Core works for all damage that your hero does that isn't from physical attacks or the attacks of their summons (So no spellvamp from Death Ward or Reflection). However, I found a very useful interaction, Octopus Core actually works off of Blademail.

Since Blademail always reflects damage as pure values, and Octaroon Core heals a portion of that, all damage dealt by someone who's not magic immune will be reduced by 25% for the duration and the cooldown drops to 11.25, which means you can have this up 40% of the time. Against Mass BKBs, it will not work out too well, but later in the game, when BKBs are down, it can be quite powerful.

I imagine there are certain heroes that can make great use of this duo of items together. Heroes that would benefit from both items anyway. I discovered it's usefulness on Sand King to make him a Burrowstrike spamming bastard that is extremely hard to kill, but there are probably a few heroes it'd be a lot better on, particularly,
Razor, who does more spell damage than right click damage. He's good with Blade Mail and Octavian Core due to his massive damage output and speed, and the ability to have a double Eye of the Storm too.
Bristleback also seems like a fine candidate, since he rocks the Octillion Core hard, and having a blademail to further make himself unkillable seems like an effective means to make him a tanking god.
Leshrac might also have the option, since he runs right into combat and would like to survive as long as possible.
Death Prophet too, since she gets Octagonal Core this patch, since Exorcism cooldown is mercilessly long, it'll help her survive longer to deal the damage she needs to.
Timbersaw as well, because he has the damage for it, but since all his damage is pure already, it might be redundant, but still potentially useful.
and Spectre, even though Dispersion does not work with October Core, she'd benefit from it to reduce her ult cooldown and steal life with Radiance, with Blade Mail she's immensely unkillable.

What do you think? Is this something we should buy on some heroes? Or should this combo of items be left in the darkness?

Also, to add onto the list, Necrophos, who benefits from the extra survivability to keep spamming death pulse, stopping hearts, and getting the successful scythe off.

Axe and Doom sound like pretty good candidates.

On Spectre it sounds like a great troll build but I really wouldn't recommend it.

Bristleback...definitely. Sounds extremely abusable...I wonder why it's not done in every pub.

Lesh/Timber are good but they get their rektarine very late.

DP...sure since her best build now is to rush a nectarine.

Razor...not a fan since everything about the hero is about dealing physical damage with link, so I see no point in getting ocarina over e.g skadi.

Oh Doom, despite his low armor and damage out, he would benefit from being able to survive and fight more often with the core and blade mail.

And didn't consider it on Axe. A 7.5 second cd psudeo-Reverse Polarity, and now with like 30% more survivability so he can do it maybe one or two more times in a teamfight. Actually, that sounds pretty ********. I gotta try it.

Don't forget Bloodseeker. Bloodrage amps up the damage dealt by Blademail as well, and if he kills someone with Blademail he'll get the heals. Being able to heal from Rupture and Blood Rite can't be bad either, and the reduced cooldowns on all of them... mmm.

Plus Bloodseeker even tends to build other items that pair well with Octarine Core, like Radiance and Mjollnir... specifically because the damage from those also gets amped by Bloodrage. It's beautiful. ;_;

If you get BoT and ma stacks he movies liek a hurricane also to make things better get a Mjolnir static charge. OOHHH Octapus core what would we do without you.

If you have finshed reading this and haven't noticed the spelling is Octarine core well boy are you in need of a psychiatrist. P.S look at the description once more.
