Tbh, I really love the item Tera.

Thing is, won't it be too expensive for unreliable effect?

I mean, most proc items cost like 2950 (Basher), 2050 (Sange), 2120 (Crystalis), 2800 (Maelstrom), with exception of MKB that costs 5400.

Because of that, I don't think it's too desirable as farming item. There's a reason why people prefer BF over Maelstrom, despite Maelstrom's capability to flash farm with much lower price.

So I suggest either:

a) Change the effect to MAGIC SPLASH!!! This mechanic will be extremely fun to have in Dota and make the item more viable to other heroes, while increasing this items dependency.
b) Removes the recipe, but add another tier of this item, making it more of a fighting item like Mael -> Mjolnir. I'm thinking that it can probably be combined with Rod of Atos? 3100 + 3250 = 6350, sounds reasonable.
c) Add active effect, that guarantees the passive effect for short duration but removes the secondary jump chance until off cooldown (kinda like Flutter). Probably increase the recipe for a bit more.
d) Both b and c, adding the active effect to the upgrade instead. Probably something along the line of "In xxxx cast range, xx% slow for x seconds, disable blink, and guarantees Affinity to proc when attacking the target. While this item is on cooldown, Affinity will not proc the second jump."

On the hero itself, I think all he need is lane-sustain. Considering how strong he is once ahead, making him capable of flash farm will break him. So why don't we make essence aura also heal like 6/8/10/12% maximum HP when it procs (only for himself)? I think this hero should go to the direction of bloodseeker, snowballing hero that cannot farm creep. With that in mind... the astral buff is probably needed as well.

or just increase his base HP regen and Strength.

Thing is... that's a really potent proc. Like, imagine Laguna Blade... or as previously mentioned Reaper's Scythe. If it's cheap, that sorta means anyone can pick it up just for the chance of that gamechanging bounce and doesn't really lose anything.

It can't have an active that guarantees Affinity because then you get 80% of the team under Reaper's Scythe.

I'd be fine reducing the recipe cost by 500, but anything more than that and it becomes a bit too cheap for its potential effects - not to mention you can grab it on supports like Lion. Do that, and then making it combine with Rod of Atos... that's perfect for OD.

So, perhaps reduce recipe cost to 350, and add:

Paragon of Lucifer
Rod of Atos, Royal Scepter of Hells (6700)
+45 Intelligence
+400 Health
+40 attack speed
+8 Health regeneration
+150% mana regeneration
Passive: Affinity. Grants a 25% chance upon casting a single-target spell on an enemy for the spell to jump to another enemy within 300 units. Has a 10% chance to jump a second time. Functions with autocast effects.
Active: Gaze of the Demon Lord. Deals 50 Magical damage to the target and slows them by 60% for 5 seconds. 10 second cooldown.
Double-tap to turn Affinity on or off.

It seems... ridiculous, but for 6.7k perhaps...

I'll also add that the Perseverance in the item makes it very viable to be bought as a first or second item, since the RoH adds a lot of sustain to a hero who needs it.
_______________

Different topic quickly, has anyone else started going Rod of Atos first instead of Force Staff on OD? I have, and really been liking the results.

Though, an item like the above^ leaves questions as to where you'd slot it in OD's item progression...

If Astral Imprisonment regenerated HP on self cast, could he be a good offlaner?

Not sure if you can still do it (I think you can), but you can prolong Bottle and Healing Salve effects with it if you cast it on yourself when the effect is about to end (it still heals while you are inside the Astral Imprisonment).

Unsure if it has been fixed (not sure if it has been deemed as a bug).
