Introduction:

First sorry for any possible grammar's error, i'm really bad in that. This guide is based on strategies often used in DotA and based in chages made in DOTA 2. Don't say I'm crazy without read the entire guide, I don't follow the "normal" way for Riki.

Ps.: If I use ~, it's means nearly, I will try don't do this, but for exemple, Butterfly can became BF, Monkey king bar MKB, SS = Smoke Screen, BB = Backstab

Pros / Cons:

Pros
~ Reliable Ganker
~ Carries well into late game
~ Silence
~ Great chaser
~ Permanent Invisibility
~ Good Farmer
~ Great for Escapes
~ If get enemy's back it's a certain kill (the enemy must be alone and you must use
Smoke Screen on the way he may run)

Cons
~ Somewhat Squishy
~ If denied farm, falls off easily
~ Easily countered with Gem, Dust or Wards
~ Focused in Teamfights
~ Not helpful until get
Permanent Invisibility

When Pick Him:

A good pick is when the other team haven't pick any heroes who can make you life hard like Slardar's (Amplify Damage) (this is to hard to deal w/, gives the enemy True Sight on you and reduces a great amount of armor - if you have Diffusal Blade this will not be a great problem, use the purge ability for remover the debuff, this works in other annoying skkils), Bounty Hunter ( Track) , Bloodseeker ( Thirst) (I don't know how to evade this, then I recommend you carry one Town Portal Scroll for go base fast if you health go less than 20%).

Isn't good pick Riki too when the enemy has a supporter who is item independant (like Keeper of the Light), because they early skill can kill you easily and they can expend all money in ward's for you don't get feed.

Obs.: This isn't rule, all depends of the ability of enemies and allies.

Skills Order Suggestion:

[If you never Played Riki before, Build 2 will be better for you]

If you are Following Build 1:
Starting w/ Blink Strike is essential, this grants you the chance of an early gank/first blood or an easy escape (if you blink on ally), second I usually take Backstab, for the addtional damage, but if you fell like necessary you can put one point in Smoke Screen before (I rather make this when I have a ganker, disabler or stunner hero in my lane - This like say Every time).

Smoke Screen is a good way to get who stay alone in any lane, you silence, slow and give a colossal chance of creeps they miss the hit, need anything more?

As soon you get Permanent Invisibility sooner you can literaly "leech" Experience from Creeps of you lane, if you isn't countered w/ Gem or - more usually - Sentry Wards.

Wards/Gem's isn't hard to deal w/, or you kill who has the Gem of True Sight - and deny/get this -, or, if you are being harrased by Sentry Ward buy a Sentry Ward(200Golds) [Lol, are you crazy? Sentry for Riki? No i aren't crazy, Sentry is the only thing - after Gem of True Sight, obviously - what grants to you sight of invisible units, in this cases others wards, and w/ this you can take this out the way].

If you are Following Build 2:
Start getting Blink Strike, then rush for level 2 and buy Smoke Screen. Let at start if you use Smoke Screen(Level1) on creeps they will have 40% to miss the attack (same thing against players) - in level4 the Smoke Screen will give 70% chance of enemies miss attacks.

It's good try to max out the Blink Strike first, and then you choose if max Smoke Screen or Backstab. with Backstab you will have more attack based on your Agi, with Smoke Screen you can evade some earlier (and possible later) deaths. If you choose follow build 2 you will max SS before BB. To try max the use of SS try follow this tip:
»Rather use SS on enemy's escape route, because if they don't control right, it will cause a great Slow + Silence + 40-70% Miss Chance for 6 seconds (before you even get level 13) and usually the enemy dies with this.

How to Play:

Well after explain about skill and how to best use Permanent Invisibility let's explain how do you play.

Riki isn't, at least until you get the items like Platemail, a durable hero, if you don't take care you will be the very first first blood.

Until you get level 6 you have to be aware from enemies and, when possible, be annoying to enemy heroes using Blink Strike when they are fighting creeps, maybe you get a first blood for this. If you have to choose Kill and Die or Don't Kill and be Alive, choose be Alive, if you die early you will be weak until you start be feeded, or farm efficiently.

**Try DON'T return to Base,unless it's really necessary for avoid death or get items, this will be really bad if you have, and if anyone buy courrier, don't be afraid buy it yourself.

Get level 6, now you are invisible, you need be stealth, stay with your partner and say if you need to go, make you enemies think you're everywhere, make than crazy spawn Sentry Ward, spending all money from items, being this way without items and less dangerous, and them, kill fast and run. Doing this you will be feed and even get your Butterfly don't will be hard.

After get the Skull Basher all is Easier, only make sure to counter wards and kill carries of Gem of True Sight, and, what is normal for any character, be aware with who can silence you, here's a tip: silence they first with your Smoke Screen them kill or run. If enemy team try to push, regroup and counter-attack, if your team kill entire enemy's team, go destroy towers, when they respawn, go farther you can from they but DON'T stop your FARMING, If you have Vladmir's Offering, you can stay jungle and recovery life killing neutrals.

Explanation Starting Items:

For start the recommendations for start game from the shop is pretty good. See, 3 Iron Branch, this will grant you 57 more HP,0.12 Hp Regen,39 more mana, ~0.1 Mana regen, Plus 3 Agi, that's equal say: 3 more damege, 0.5 ~armor, 3 Atack speed, put one Slippers of Agility and enjoy a substantial start damege. with Tango and Healing Salve you can stay a while more in lane, in normal game you don't need go back base until level 6 (when you becames a nightmare for enemies).

Items:

You must be thinking, wait this guy is mad, how can him don't pick like core the Diffusal Blade?

Well, let's explain:
You Priority is get sooner as possible you Power Treads and set it for the attribute you more need in moment:
»Need more Life Regen or more Life Points? Set Str;
»Need more Mana Regen or more Mana Points? Set Int;
»Need more Armor and/or attack? Set Agi;

After complete you Treads it's time to make Vladmir's Offering, try to buy in the following sequence: Morbid Mask, Ring of Basilius, Ring of Regen and by last the recipe, buying the Mask before grants for you an early lifesteal and the basilius will boost armor making you more resistant in lane phase and gank attempts;

Usually, players says "let's buy Diffusal Blade", I say don't do this. The good point of this is the purge, can save you from annoying uts like Amplify Damage and Track, but this have only 8 charges, well you can say "it's 8 less deaths in score", but isn't, first it's hard to remember to purge yourself when you see the enemy getting closer and closer, and after use, if you already lvl 16, the enemy will have an attack window of 1,5 seconds, this appears a few, but what happens if they stun you, put a sentry and kill you? You will have expended one charge for nothing, like this isn't enough later the 36 mana removed will change nothing, the battle will end very earlier than this makes any diference, but feel free to buy the Diffusal Blade if you can remember to purge, this will useful to remove debuffs.

After Vladmir's Offering I suggest you the Skull Basher(in DotA Cranium Basher). This will give for you 40 more damage (very welcome) and 6 strength (6*19=114 Life Points), but it isn't all, this will give you a truly 25% chance (if you now the mechanics you now the percentages aren't "real" for the great part of items) for stuns enemy for 1.4 second and have a cooldown of 2 seconds (not too much), in chase this stun can get you and you team a kill.

==ALL CORE DONE==

What? Crazy Again?
No! it's because if my guide is followed correctly the Butterfly isn't a hard item to make. Need to explain why? I will anyway... Butterfly is the most essential item for, nearly all, heroes of agility. Get and Agi Hero, put more 30 Damage, Plus 30 Agi Point, Plus 30 Attack Speed, Plus 35% Chance of Evasion. Don't get it? well easier:
Total Stats Given:
» 60 Damage
» 35% Evasion
» 60 Attack Speed
» Nearly 4,5 of Armor

Look's good, Right?

Now I have finished my BF, let's finish game, you can, it's faster, but not too easy if the game is balanced.

What can I do? It's too hard for me.
If enemies are hitting too much focus an Assault Cuirass, you will give them and debuff of armor (this can alert enemies but they can't see you, they will only try to run if see the debuff) and for you 15 Armor Point ( i really recommend buy as first part of AC the Platemail first.

Now I have more defense but still hard kill.

Make an Sange and Yasha (or see on Situational about Manta Style) see the stats:
» +16 Strength (304 Brute HP)
» +16 Agility (+16 Damage, +2 Armor, +16 Attack Speed)
» +12 Damage
» +15 Attack speed
» +12% Movement speed

Passive:
» Gives a chance on attack to slow for 4 seconds.
» Maim Chance: 15%
» Movement Speed Slow: 30%
» Attack Speed Slow: 30%

Well, Well We come to the Ultra Late Game... It's getting even more boring... Go make it more funny:
Remembers your Sweet Skull Basher? Why not transform this into an Abyssal Blade?
This gives you more:
» +10 Str;
» +100 Damage;

Passive:
» Gives a chance to stun for 1.4 seconds.
» Bash Chance for Melee Heroes: 25%
» Bash Chance for Ranged Heroes: 10% Cooldown: 2

Active:
» Stun a target enemy unit for 2 seconds. Goes through Magic Immunity.
Range: 140 Cooldown: 60

Situational Items

Black King Bar and Linken's Sphere are a good things when on enemy's team you have too much gankers, nukers, disablers... Like Lina, Invoker...
I Rather wait a bite more and get Linken's Sphere:

» +15 in all attributes (+285 HP, 0.6 HP Regen, 195 MP, 0.45 MP Regen, +15 Damage, +15 Attack Spped, +2 Armor)
» +6HP/s Regen (a total of 6.6HP/s this gives if count w/ stats)
» +150% Mana Regen
» +10 Damage ( a total of +25 Damage)

» And Every 20 Seconds you block and spell used agains't you.

But if you choose the Black King Bar:
» +10 Str (+190 HP, +0.6 HP Regen);
» +24 Damage;

» At first use you can block the most spells used against you for 10 seconds (cooldown on 80 seconds first use), more the use, less the duration, the minumum duration is of 5 seconds (with a reduced cooldown for 55 seconds.

» Linken's Sphere gives more attributes, but Black King Bar give more durable magic immunity, choose what you need more, Attributes or Magic Immunity.

Manta Style is good because if you don't wanna get Sange and Yasha you can get your Yasha and make it more powerful, making clones of yourself and getting good stats (this all for only more 2750 Golds):
» +26 Agi (+26 Damage, +26 Attack Speed and Nearly 4 Armor);
» +10 Str (+190 HP, +0.4 HP Regen);
» +10 Int (+130 MP, +0.3 MP Regen);
» +15 Attack Speed;
» +10% Movement Speed.

» Mirror Image:
* Creates 2 illusions of your hero that last 20 seconds.
* Melee illusions deal 33% damage and take 350% damage.
* Ranged illusions deal 28% damage and take 400% damage.
Cooldown: 50 Mana: 165

Vanguard Isn't a item I like this much, but this give +250 HP, HP Regen and, sometimes, you just need it (maybe because you can't stay alive or just need more autonomy, with more HP Regen and Damage Reduction).

Well, this guides end now, please say what you think, thanks for Reading ^^
Ps.: If needed I will makes some future updates in this guide;
Edit 1: Changed my guide explaining how proceed if need early max SS.
