Lore

Puck,the faerie dragon

While Puck seems at first glance a mischievous, childish character, this quality masks an alien personality. The juvenile form of a Faerie Dragon, a creature that lives for eons, Puck spends countless millennia in its childish form. So while it is technically true that Puck is juvenile, it will continue to be so when the cities of the present age have sloughed away into dust. Its motives are therefore inscrutable, and what appears to be play may in fact indicate a darker purpose or just its endless fondness for mischief.

Intro

Puck is a great initiator/ganker.Puck is rated as hero that requires a lot of skill to play.We often see him picked in the pro scene since he can snowball effectively early mid to mid game.He is hard to play but easy to learn and master.

Pros / Cons

Pro

Good initiator that is hard to read
Strong AoE silences early game
Hard to kill
Easy to juke with

Cons

Squishy
Requires good sense of tempo and positioning
Terrible stats gain

Laning phase

Solo Mid
Focus on last hitting and controlling creep equilibrium.Get a quick bottle and start controlling runes.Always stay in lane until you hit level 6 before you start ganking.Other puck players love to go around ganking before level 6 when they get a good rune, but I think without Dream Coil you may fail a gank and lose precious gold and exp.

Offlane solo
Experience is the most important thing in this lane. You don't have to risk your life to get all the last hits, just play safe and get last hits that you can.If things are going smoothly ,go for Phase Boots,if not go straight for Blink Dagger.Only use Illusory Orb when all enemy heroes are visible on the minimap,or else your only escape mechanism will be on cooldown.Getting phase shift at level 2 is essential.

Team Fighting

Puck is an extremely strong teamfight hero.

There are 2 ways to initiate on enemy.

The first one is Blink in, Waning Rift, Dream Coil, Illusory Orb towards your team mates(make sure your orb hits at least one of the enemy, Phase Shift, Ethereal Jaunt

If you did it properly, there is a high chance that you can escape since you can Ethereal Jaunt out.

The second way is almost the same as the first one but you orb in and blink out, this way is more risky but easier to perform. The only danger is if you're hit, Blink Dagger will have a cooldown of 3 seconds.Low levels Phase Shift duration is lower than 3 seconds and you may not get out in time and die.

If you have a Force Staff then things become easier.

Foes and Friends

Heroes like Silencer, Doom, Sven that can silence or stun you makes you pretty useless.

The best heroes that can work well with you are Sand King, Enigma, Queen of Pain, Shadow Fiend that can follow up once Dream Coil is casted on enemy heroes.

Item choices

Always get Tango,if you're laning against a hero like batrider who spam skills, get 3 Iron Branch to build it to Magic Wand later,or else, get a Circlet and a component of Null Talisman or a Bracer.

If you're playing with friends, ask them to pool you some tango, you can get your bottle extremely quick if things go well.(Only do this if you're pretty sure that you will not be harassed that much.)

Getting a null or bracer depends on whether you need the extra hp or damage.

Blink Dagger, amazing item to initiate and surprise your enemy.Following the new 6.80 update, it has no mana cost, which is great.

Scythe of Vyse provides high mana regeneration and a good disable, but it is quite expensive,so you should buy this after you have built your blink dagger and force staff.

Many Puck players like to build an Eul's Scepter of Divinity, but I personally don't favour this item that much since you will be ganking all around the map when you hit 6,you won't have time to farm that 2700 gold.

Force Staff could be use the save your teammates life and of course your own one.

Black King Bar or Linken's Sphere can block disables.

Phase Boots at side lane is pretty good because of the bonus movement speed boost.

Puck is NOT a carry, only play the carry build when you're playing with friends.

Why did I get Eye of Skadi instead of other Unique attack modifiers?
Skadi provides great stats and a slow effect, which makes you less squishier and stronger ganking power.

Bloodstone gives a ton of raw hp and mana,it also gives you a lot of hp and mana regen,I opt to get this over heart, since it is easier to build.

Famous Puck players

When talking about this,I really think M-god Merlini plays a really great puck, due to his famous jukings, which can be performed very well with Puck.

Na'vi Dendi and [A]S4 plays different styles of puck, both are really enjoyable to watch.
