Guys, I've been thinking, is it a good idea to get Desolator on Phantom Lancer? I mean, I know it's a new idea, but is it viable? So what you can do is that the illusions will burn mana from Diffusal Blade, while the real Phantom Lancer will use the Desolator UAM. This will reduce the enemy's armor by 7, making you and your illusions do more damage. What do you think?

I don't think there's enough time to farm both without sacrificing survivability: you could pick up the Diffusal Blade first and then buy the Desolator instead of Manta Style (so Diffusal > Desolator > Heart), but by that time the enemies might have enough armor to make the Deso useless. Remember that if the enemies start picking up stuff like Vladmir's Offering and Assault Cuirass, armor reduction doesn't do much.

Viable? I don't think so, but it's still better than a Daedalus.

It could be good, and for pushing to. But Daedalus and Butterfly are still better.

Indeed this works as you say, I actually thought about it at some point.

Only argument is... Manta Style. Manta is just so good on him that it's a better option to build your manta instead if you want more damage.

It's not like PL needs the +60 damage from deso anyways. Maybe try Medallion of Courage? Like medallion into diffusal? The new PL is actually a perfectly viable solo mid/ganker (this base damage is just absurd for CS), so early medallion makes sense.

Buying an early Medallion of Courage is actually a good idea. Replacing the early Ring of Aquila with a Medallion. I'd like to try that.

Edit: However, at that point, your damage is only around 90-100. Is it really helpful enough to get a Medallion whereas a Ring of Aquila gives 18 damage and great early game stats. So Ring of Aquila is obviously better, right?

The usefulness of Daedalus depends on the situation. Most of the time you won't need it since you basically spawn infinite illusions, but if you need burst it can be helpful.
Wouldn't get it before Heart, Butterfly and AC though.

Daedalus is a very late game item that you'll probably never get unless going for a 6-slot build.

It's good on him but only as a luxury after your diffusal/manta/heart/skadi/butterfly/whatever.

And even then you should probably consider Skull Basher/ Abyssal Blade as an alternative.

Because of the pathetic 16% outgoing damage on illusions it's not a very appealing item...it's more of an item for Terrorblade actually.

Make desolator by 25 minutes with a diffusal blade and vitality booster, powertreads. End the game wothput going lategame, only then is it viable. It gives tremendous seiging potential and teamkill potential.

If you are on a roll, theyfed you their cookie, go on man build a desolator treat them like rookies.

Otherwise, go lategame. Basher or daedalus is a better 6 slot item.
Heart>butterfly >diffusal >manta >boots>Basher /crit/scythe of vyse

This seems like a waste of gold to me tbh....sure the illusions hit a target with 7 less armor... but since they dont profit from raw bonus damage AT ALL and Desolator doesnt give a single stat point its hardly worth it in my eyes.

and about the Daedalus ...i hate it, when people build it at ANY time (altho its far worse if the go for it as 2nd or 3rd item already). Same as above: the 81 bonus dmg are completely wasted on you illusions; So unless you already have an insanely high Base-dmg, building it, is they same as letting your enemy know, that you just wasted 5.5k gold and are ready to throw the game.
