I usually get Battle Fury on Brew as core. It's great for farm and can be the difference in a team fight if they stand relatively close together.

or you can use your ultimate and get no benefit from your battlefury......

Battlefury doesn't always mean jungle. Battlefury is a great pushing items too as well as just farming here and there.

Maelstrom is a better Pushing Item, only ever get a Battle Fury if you're going to clear Jungle Camps in quick succession

I almost always go Boots of Speed -> Bottle -> Blink Dagger and then pick my boots and see what's needed from there (usually Scepter). Brew's teamfight presence is with his ult, not cleaving crits. A much better item would be Maelstrom because the attack speed will proc more crits, and you have a decent nuke coming off every few seconds. Cleave is weak, especially on a hero who builds utility instead of damage most of the time. Brew is early fight oriented, not farm oriented, because he's a #2.

Bottle

Boots of Speed
Magic Stick sometimes.

Blink Dagger

Bestbuild.

I still dont understand the drums nor the upgraded boots unless you are getting arcanes in the safelane, as soon as you get point booster your mana problems are gone. Drums is mainly a stat item that allows heroes to fight a bit earlier, but brew is already an early fighter since he doesnt use stats in his ultimate.
It only delays your next item, and aghs only gets worse later in the game, BKB if needed shouldnt be delayed, and shivas/cuirass is just flat out better.

The only boots i sometimes get on him after blink apart from travels are treads for a bit of tankyness and farming speed.

Respect for the treads Tim. I always pick them over the Phase Boots because he actually benefits a lot from tread switching, and the attack speed is a no brainer. Mana boots are situational, but very useable. I get them if we only have 1 pair usually, because most of my Brew games don't go long enough to warrant a BoT purchase.

Also I learned how bad a late scepter pickup is first hand. Got it something like 35 mins in and it was basically useless :(
