Quoted:
Xyrus Bristleback Isn't damage block, it reduces a percent of all incoming damage, including magical. It's more like Dispersion than a damage blocking ability.

Bristleback is pseudo-heal, same as backtrack and Refraction.

I've always wondered the effect of Bristleback on Damage Over Time abilities. E.g. If I cast Shadow Word on him...would the damage block take effect if:

1) I cast it when he had his back turned to me?

2) If he turns his back on me when it pulses?

3) Not at all?
A full list of my guides is here

it always looks at the exact moment.
if he turns his back during a certain tick it will do less damage.

What about Sun Strike, Torrent - abilities that have no certain vector? Or his passive blocks the damage depending on position related to casting hero, and not the spell vector?

10/11 because I love rat dota and I like ninjaing the enemy rax to combat the ultimate evil : permanent 5-man Dota where people compensate for their distinct lack of balls by sticking with their team 24/7 :)

Treant's Living Armor isn't damage block? I guess technically it isn't because it blocks magic damage too..but it's close.

@Dimonychan : there is always a vector : if Invoker sunstrikes you and you're facing away from him you take reduced damage. If Zeus ulties you and you're facing away from him you take reduced damage. And so on...
Strategy guide : Anti-pubstomper guide.
Hero guides : Spectre , Windranger and Clinkz

Its always relative to the position of the damage source at the time the damage is taken. Also Doom does not disable it :)
