just start with a standard melee carry farming build. Stout Shield + normal regen. so Tango + Healing Salve. then either get 2 branches or 1 branch and a Clarity.
its really personal preference.

get brown boots and then either get the Helm of Iron Will for extra regen if you need it or finish treads. then make the helm into armlet.
also finish a magic wand becouse you will need some mana, dont forget to pop it if you dont have enough mana for your ult and you are about to die.

between armlet and your insane lifesteal your regen should be great. you can get a heart later in the game but you should also get some armor most of the time. so either an Assault Cuirass or a casual Platemail if you think you need heart first.

There are plenty of good guides on this site, you should take a look at some of them (definitely not advertizing).

But seriously, he doesn't need much HP regen because of his passive: one point in it is enough, so you don't push the lane and, if you build an Armlet, a Helm of Iron Will straight after your finished Boots is the best choice. Mana-wise, the Magic Wand is the most common option as said above, but if you're having a good time farming even a Drum of Endurance can come in handy because of the extra mana and all the other useful features (especially the movement speed increase). The Soul Ring is also a situational option, but I'd never buy it unless against an Anti-Mage.

Centaur is many man mode. He also has the highest strength growth and is great with blink dagger.

Doom is usually built tanky with 1 initiation item like blink or shadow blade.

Viper has high magic resistance and slows anyone who attacks him. He is also build tanky. (but plz no vanguard)

Timbersaw is naturally tanky with reactive armor and is build with bloodstone and survivability items.

Bristleback. Just get Power Treads and Vanguard, then you can pick anything: Assault Cuirass, Black King Bar, Heaven's Halberd, Shiva's Guard, Heart of Tarrasque, Blade Mail, Rod of Atos, Drum of Endurance, Mekansm...
