Hey all,

I'm looking at writing a Huskar guide, but I'm still trying to figure out what to recommend as a first "big" item. Normally I like to go for Urn of Shadows, followed by Power Treads but then I'm kinda undecided between:

Armlet of Mordiggian - it's such a great damage item for a hero like huskar, plus giving you something of everything you need - regen, armour and attack.

Helm of the Dominator - very, very handy having the lifesteal and regen on huskar.

Black King Bar - a more defensive option, suitable stats, the ability to ignore stuns etc, plus deciding whether you want to lose the health from Life Break.

It's obviously situational, but I like to go for the armlet first - any thoughts?

I usually find myself going for lifesteal first, be it HotD or Mask of Madness. That early damage you have give you too much damage, which means as soon as you get your lifesteal you can just go balls out.

If you're going to get lifesteal at all, get a morbid mask first and foremost. It's incredibly useful, even a t low levels.

I think armlet is not as effective without lifesteal.

Thanks for your input guys - hmm it's tricky. I really do like to get that lifesteal early, but the armlet makes you so much scarier. Usually between Huskar's heal and the Urn I've got enough regen to make use of the armlet when appropriate without completely gimping myself.

Think maybe you're right that just the Morbid Mask will do it - the lifesteal isnt improved that much by the other items, but it's only 900g instead and means less delay getting the armlet online.

Helm of the Dominator is basically your core, there's no reason not to get it. Especially with Satanic being purchasable, which is made out of a Reaver. You have no disable so a net from a mancer or a stun from a centaur could really secure the kill. Urn is a good first pick up though, but don't forget that you can create multiple builds, you don't have to choose just one.

I think you should remove the Urn of Shadows and let your supports take it: I always like to get it in low skilled pubs, but if your team has a support that wards properly and buys TP Scrolls then he can make better use of it. Also, you already have a built-in heal and you will even get a lifesteal item, most of the time.

I usually go for Power Treads, Helm of the Dominator and straight Black King Bar if I'm farming and I need it very quickly; otherwise I take the Armlet of Mordiggian (and then BKB) if I'm ganking a lot.

Yeah I'm not talking about skipping Helm, just the order in which to buy these things. Personally I like the Urn, provided nobody else is getting one, as you're a pretty effective ganker and one of the key things with Huskar is to have control of your health.

The strength from a double bracer (usually with tangos, salve and a few branches) is nice - basically I look at it as a stats item with additional benefits, rather than go bracer. And lets face it, you're very unlikely to pick Huskar in a high level pub or team game.

I was thinking going Urn, Treads, Morbid mask and then armlet, before upgrading the mask to a helm, then BKB. Obviously the BKB might have to come sooner if you're up against a lot of burst or disable.

The issue I have with Helm is that it does nothing for your damage - sure it gives you sustain (do you have enough already early-mid game?) and anyone you want to kill probably isn't going to hang around and let you...?

You can disassemble HotD to get you armlet up ASAP so i would recommend that first after treads, lifesteal also lets you gank multiple times without having to use urn charges to keep your health up

Armlet is a broken item right now. Gives you way too much for way too little. Always get it ASAP
