The previous thread I created about Ursa has been a fruitful one! Though I have not played Ursa yet, I know the general item progression when playing him now.

Now my next hero I need some clarification on is Nyx Assassin. I just played a game with that hero yesterday, link to dotabuff here.

In that game, I started out supporting my SF on the offlane (don't ask what he was doing there) and I got a couple of kills. After I got 6, I ganked other lanes and got more kills. I went for Eul's Scepter of Divinity (because they have troll and WK) into a Blink Dagger, then I went for Aghanim's Scepter. We were winning really hard at first, but then we lost to their powerful late game combo.

Anyway, in the game I used the Burrow ability, and it didn't really do much. It may be partly because I'm not using it right and the enemy team was steamrolling mine at that point (WK attacking 3 times a second thanks to troll and critting on 2 of those hits is not funny). I'd still like to ask, is the Aghanim's Scepter upgrade good or gimmicky, or what I should have went for instead of that?

Agh's is good if you already have blink + force, if you know what I mean.

That vanguard pickup on sf makes me cry....
Anyway, I think a hex or silence would have been better as compared to that scepter pickup. IMO, scepter works wonders for high ground defense but otherwise is not that useful. That casting animation is so long that I have never really been able to use it without a setup. Although, my favorite nyx is the dagon - e blade build :D

one of my favorite heroes evvvaaaahhhhh

honestly

nyx is either a 2 3 or 4 pls dont 5 him cause he will be useless. my item progression as a 2 is bottle arcanes urn blink dagon 2 aghs then scythe into eblade then max dagon and maybe if the game is like stupidly long go for a shivas or someting similiar.

if your offlane its arcanes urn blink force aghs scythe

if your a 4 its arcanes urn/medallion into forcestaff into blink into scythe.

his aghs is amazing but it requires a good team to use it or a dumb team to not consider it.

I enjoy Arcane's, Urn, Blink, Dagon. Then if we go late game I grab Aghs.

Thanks for the advice, guys. In that game, I originally wanted to play as the #3 position in the offlane, but the SF went got and I sort of went with that. And yes, I got AIDS the moment I saw the Vanguard lol...

Bottle (if Mid is not getting it), Urn of Shadows, Arcane Boots, Blink Dagger ->Situational ( Force Staff, Eul's Scepter of Divinity, Aghanim's Scepter, etc.)

Position 3, or maybe a 4 with the right Lineup, he's about as useful on Mid Lane as a Pudge or Bounty Hunter, i.e. he should be elsewhere, Gankin! 8{3

It's a good ability, but it's Situational. You should almost always get more out of a Blink Dagger, but when Sieging in the Late Game, this can be useful outside their Tier 3s, or under your's if you can pop a Sentry down.

Compared to increased Initiation / Counter-Initiation Range from Force Staff, it tends to fall short most games. You also tend to need a defensive Item, for which Eul's Scepter comes in handy, not to mention the added chasing potential. <}3

I usually like going Brown Boots > Urn > Arcanes > Blink > Force into situationals, which involve Aghs, Ghost, Sheep, Euls and other good stuff.
There are two kinds of people in the world; those who can count, and those who can't.

Nyx's ags is a really good upgrade, it's just tricky to use well in pubs. It makes you like a bullwark in siege both offesnively and defensively. Offensively you draw tower aggro, tank it, and then if the enemy go to engange you have two stuns. As was as passive mana burn harass. Similar story in defensive plays.

I like Brown Boots into Urn Arcanes Blink. It gives you enough mana sustain to keep up with the roaming, and Blink Dagger is literally the only other item you need as a Nyx since you are essentially item independent. Usually next it's one of Force Staff, Dagon or Eul's. Then Ag's usually, then Sheep, then whatever.

Like Nyx is one of the heroes I love casual Dagon on, mostly because I love casual Dagon as a pick-up in a lot of situations. But when you have what in essence is an item independant hero who revolves around burst, level 1 dagon can bring huge value.

Since you just can't have enough Chaos Breaker.

Nyx Assasin's Aghs upgrade is really, really, really good. the increased range in Impale and Manaburn is really good, plus that Spiked Carapace auto-stun is great. u can make awesome plays and jukes or headshots(skillshots) with it. but i prefer getting Force Staff/ Blink Dagger, a Lvl 5 Dagon, and a E-blade before getting it.
