So about a week or two ago I asked in forums how to play as Doom. I got some good feedback and decided to try him out, and I was really scared since before all I did was feed with him in the past (when I was a 100 hr scrub). Now I feel confident.

Here's how I play him now:

Offlane

Start: Ring of Protection Stout Shield Tango Iron Branch
Early: Phase Boots Ring of Basilius Magic Wand
Mid-Game: Vladmir's Offering Silver Edge Black King Bar
Late: Heart of Tarresque Octarine Core

Skill Build:
1. Devour
2. Scorched Earth
3. Devour
4. Scorched Earth
5. Devour
6. Doom
7. Devour
8. Scorched Earth
9. Scorched Earth
10. LVL? Death
11. Doom
12. LVL? Death
13. LVL? Death
14. LVL? Death

16. Doom
17+. Stats

I really like eating Mud Golems. Hurl Boulder gives you a .6 sec. stun and 125 nuke every 30 sec. for free. Sure its not as good as Hoof Stomp for stun, but hey its free and the range is massive. Use as a casual harass nuke or to cancel channeling. But heres where it gets good. Shard Split. When you die, it gives you mini Dooms that have the stun too. In the early game, that wrecks. If you die you can now do 187 damage in nukes and have a 1.2 sec. chainstun. Plus you can hit them down. And they are really cute.

SE gives you so much regen its insane. Do you really even need tangoes? Also Octarine Core because dont you think it would be really good to put Doom on someone and then use Scorched Earth? Especially in a team fight? I think that'd be insane too. And it gives you alot of HP and mana pool actually. And it reduces the cooldown of your very long cooldown spells by a significant amount.

Anyway, do you think this is the best way to play Doom? Any more tips?

Depending upon the game, u may want aghs or even refresher.AC is pretty nice on him too, solves the attack speen and armour problems. Post the dotabuff of the game?
I usually go for arcanes - blink (blink -> hoofstomp is awesome)- then the situationals like ac, refresher, aghs, etc.

if it works for you it´s ok but i thing that :
Magical damage line-up ? aghamihn refresher
Physycal damage line-up ? Stack armor to the death

Nice itens on doom this patch : Silver Edge, Shiva´s Guard, Lotus Orb and Rod of athos
Also vlads it´s somehow outdated on doom, Sasha yasha can work if Position 1
but this is just what i think, nice job with this doom gameplay :))))))))))))

Blink dagger, blink dagger, blink dagger. That is probably one of my go to items on Doom. It's just such value, especially considering the range on Doom isn't the best. Also, agnahims is VERY good on doom. Makes bristleback and phantom assassin, among others, creeps for a constantly refreshing 15 seconds.

Late game best auras are from the alpha wolves or the wild wing rippers. Always have one of those two unless you need to eat a blue satyr for a quick purge.

However, Doom is one of the most flexible heroes in the game. Almost any position 1-3 item works on him :P

Go good luck, and have fun!

Yeah, what you're doing is OK.

Just a few comments :

- Refresher Orb is absolute core. Core! In every game, no exceptions. The earlier you get it the better.

- Shadow Blade vs Blink Dagger depends on the heroes you're playing against. Blink is the best against heroes you need to jump on instantly to counter-initiate (e.g Witch Doctor, Enigma), and Shadow Blade is best to pick off heroes with instant escape skills (e.g Storm Spirit), since blink is pretty bad against them because they have the time to escape instantly before you get Doom off (the cast point sucks).

- Aghanim's Scepter is really good because it doubles the damage from Doom, so if you get it early, it increases your solo kill potential by a lot.

- Heart of Tarrasque is really questionable, since on a utlity Doom Aghs/refresher/octarine is way better for survivability, and on a carry Doom Eye of Skadi is absolutely needed otherwise you get kited to no end. (even then carry Doom is the easiest carry to kite in the game that's why I don't like it - nobody plays carry Doom these days anyways).

- Consider Blade Mail...that's a value item right there. If you need a cheap armor item that's the way to go. Doom is always on the front lines, gets focused a lot, and Doomed targets can't use BKB.

Also...I really don't like offlane Doom in pubs. He's an extremely passive offlaner that does nothing but sap XP while the enemy carry is freefarming. And he ends up going jungle at some point anyways and completely leave the lane vulnerable to pushes. Passive offlaning is good in competitive because you can't do better than that...but in a pub aggressive offlaners like Clock who can murder the enemy supports and wreck their lane are way better.
Personally I almost only play him in the jungle. Since he can gank when he hits level 6, he's actually not that greedy as a jungler...as long as you play him as a ganker and you don't go Hand of Midas (never ever buy midas on a jungler unless your team is completely stomping the early game, because junglers are supposed to gank early otherwise you lose all your lanes)
Just buy one Observer Ward in your starting build and ward your jungle, this way you are safe from ganks (only a coordinated tryhard stack would smoke gank you with 2 supports in the early game...even in high MMR solo queue pubs people never do that).
(And if that level 2 Bounty Hunter is annoying you just pop W and manfight him. There's always the option of maxing W over Q if you're getting annoyed by these kind of heroes...they lack burst damage anyways so they're not a major threat)

Vlads isn't bad in any way...but Aghs is just so good because it allows you to solo kill almost anyone. And blademail <3
