I've done some research, and I can't get none useful to counter Pudge, sometimes I use puck as to counter his hooks or silence him, if anyone can tell which heroes would do counterpick and how to I will really appreciate it.

Morphling is a great counter. You can Waveform to dodge hooks like you do with Phase Shift, and even IF you are hooked you can morph Strength while Dismembered.

Counter in Lane, or "Counter" him from Ganking the rest of your Team?

Just about any good Mid Hero beats Pudge in Lane. All you have to do is anticipate the Meat Hook and dodge them, as well as keeping an eye out for when he snags a Rune of Invisibility. If he can't Hook you or get within Dismember Range of you, he's going to have a difficult time killing you.

If you want to stop him from Ganking the rest of your Team (which in Pubs is quite difficult), the best method would be to follow him around and out-Gank him with another Early-Mid Game Ganker, like Nightstalker, Skywrath Mage, Clockwerk, etc.

Easiest way is just to stay close to your creeps. That way he cannot hook (or it becomes extremly hard). Buy wards to monitor his movement. Pretty much any hero beats him in lane, he is a giant creep that can throw out hooks.

As stated above:
  • Vision
  • Fast reaction
  • Basic anticipation
  • Taking advantage of creeps (mind that Meat Hook goes through Siege Creeps)
  • Bonus for mobility skills

I just played a game today where I laned Axe mid against Pudge and the guy was functionally shut down for the whole game because he hit level 6 and my side lane buddies hit level 6 like 1 minute later while I was level 8.

As for countering his combos, long range stuns are good, like Vengeful Spirit.

thanks, so it means that it's all about warding and making him fail hook? I've come across to some noob pudges and some pro pudges in pubs, let's say that when I come across a pro, everyone is slaughtered

btw, english is not my native language, so I apologize if I'm not that accurate with it

Pudge is the most predictable hero in the game. He's an early game hero who has basically two windows of opportunity : at level 5 or 6, he has the ability to kill the enemy mid hero. And at level 7, he will gank the sidelanes. Prevent these two opportunities from happening and he will be completely shut down.

To prevent his ganks on the sidelanes, ward them. There are only 1 or 2 possible gank paths that he can follow. Best is to either ward the rune spots, or ward just on the patch right next to the lane itself.

About the "1 v 1 mid" matchup, sure there's this "stay next to your creeps" and "don't get hooked" stuff but honestly I don't like it. Sure you can play the paranoia game for 10 minutes and try to not feed but for me you don't truly beat Pudge mid unless you can just manfight him and win.

Morphling as said is really good for this because he can dodge hook or escape with Waveform and morph strength to survive. Best way is to waveform *towards pudge* by the way and not away. Bait hook, waveform to dodge it, and manfight Pudge.

Lifestealer : again, get hooked on purpose, Rage and manfight.

Queen of Pain, or even Anti-Mage mid for the lulz : bait hook, Blink on him to dodge the hook, and manfight.

Bracer and Power Treads are the best counters to Pudge : cheap, cost-efficient HP. Pudge is useless against high HP heroes.

Lone Druid : with good positioning, he'll just hook your bear. When he does, ez kill. Has tons of HP with ult making manfights easy.

Ember Spirit : Flame Guard, 'nuff said.

- Brewmaster, Tiny, Sven... : you're just too tanky he can't do anything.

- Broodmother. He throws a hook? He hooks a spiderling. He comes forward to place a sentry ward? He's dead. He tries to farm your spiderlings with Rot? Spiderlings have 450 HP which is more than enough so he just makes your job easier by killing himself. He tries to manfight you? Good luck with your 60% lifesteal.

Main thing to keep in mind : All of Pudge's damage comes from his hook. His ult doesn't deal that much damage, and Rot damages him as well so it's useless in a manfight. Dodge the hook or bait it on purpose, if you do that Pudge is useless for 10 seconds and becomes an easy kill.

Dodge hook, jump on him, and manfight. That's how you win mid against Pudge.

Pudge, the over picked hero uh.
Well like hamstertamer said, these heroes can counter him easily, to complete his stuff let me tell you what to not do.
Please don't pick Sniper. I mean if he has a minimum of skills he will hook you at least once. Let's just say you are done!
Same with Zeus, Pugna, Tinker, Drow Ranger.

Here are some extra heroes that can counter him: Puck, Batrider, Weaver, Abaddon,
Dragon Knight, Magnus, Undying, Omniknight, Dragon Knight.
Im probably missing some too! But the heroes I mentionned basically survived with their spells.
I felt like helping you a bit more with how to counter a pudge since it will probably be the one that you'll face the most in the mid-lane.
