So since Riki can stay invisible since lvl1, he can be a powerful roamer since 2 with his Smoke Screen. The idea is that early game you repetitively gank with slow/silence from Smoke Screen, making it easy to kill those slow heroes like Shadow Shaman or Visage, since they can't escape while silenced. You build an Urn of Shadows and Medallion of Courage. Amount of gold and XP gained from ganks and most likely 1-2 pushed towers allow you to proceed to mid-game items such as Diffusal Blade, Skull Basher, etc. More like a semi-carry build.

Example:
Safe lane: Sven, Dazzle
Mid lane: Viper or Kunkka
Hard lane: Undying
Roamer: Riki

A slow and a stun + Smoke Screen in safe lane = easy kill at safe lane
Slow from Viper + Smoke Screen a likely kill or guaranteed Torrent from Kunkka also a likely kill.
Strength steal, Tombstone + Smoke Screen = double kill!

Any thoughts?

he definitely has become better at roaming since 6.82 but i fear he offers far too little to be an effective roamer THIS early. Do you maybe have a replay were level 2 ganks actually work, or is this an "on-paper"-analysis. Rikis basedamage and Movespeed are very, very low at the start of the game and at early levels "Smoke Screen" isnt really that strong. Without Backstab or Blink Strike his damage-contribution leaves much to be desired as well.

Imo Riki is still a snowballhero who starts to shine once he hits level 6/7...this is also the time were i would start roaming.

Unfortunately, a Bounty Hunter would do everything that a roaming Riki would do, but better. Also, that Smoke Screen isn't all that effective until you get a Diffusal Blade to keep enemies in the cloud. Without that, all it takes is for the enemy to walk out of the small AoE.

Why would you roam as a Riki when a level 2 Bounty Hunter can do it better? Okay, he doesn't have a silence, but a Jinada hit deals more damage and its slow stacks with the Orb of Venom (or if it doesn't, the Orb will slow the enemy after the Jinada slow ends). Also, as Ashwinthegrim said, people usually don't stand still inside a Smoke Screen unless they get chainstunned, in which case the Smoke is useless anyway.

Still, even though Riki isn't a good roamer, you can finally play him in the hard lane from level 1: you won't get much farm, but reaching that level 6 is all you need if you want to rotate to other lanes.
