Hey all, I just recently got into Dota and I'm rather curious as to which heroes you think are good but not picked as often as they could/should be. I am trying to expand my repertoire of heroes that I can play well, so any recommendations would be cool.

The hero's that are extremely underrated are: Mirana,Beastmaster,Jakiro,Bristleback (somewhat),Disruptor, Goblin techies,Pugna, and pit lord. But that's entirely my opinion for I haven't seen them much in games of Dota 1 and 2.

To be honest, I think Mirana sucks monkey balls right now. Her base damage is incredibly low, and she can't light a candle to the carries picked today. Everything else is spot on, maybe except for that Techies.

Pugna has seen a LOT more play since Dragonus came out. And his win rate has shot up a couple percent. I've seen a Pugna go 30min refresher to use two Nether Wards, which basically zaps 3.5 health per 1 mana. Against a Shadow Shaman whose ultimate is 600 mana, 2100dmg instagib.

Hmm Mirana definitely has a place in a lot of line ups, she can solo, semi-carry and carry (to a point). Great range of skills, long stun, AOE nuke, escape and a great team fight/escape power. But yeah, her base damage is a bit poor, and she does need farm to be effective.

I haven't seen any Enigma from when I started playing dota, Chen is forgotten pick, Brewmaster players suck balls, no Lone Druid, Lycanthrope, Meepo (oh god), Treant Protector can easily win team fights, one of my favourite support/initiators, also people forgor about Visage and damage he can to during team fights. And worst support pick ever seen in pubs Io, generally feed machine.

If you're looking to play a tanky support, I suggest Centaur Warrunner. I never seen him at all in pub matches unless someone randoms him or I play him myself. Really good hero, and not one to be underestimated. If you wanna use a ganker, Timbersaw is a fun one. His skills are very spammable and he has a a lot of mobility. You could try carrying with Lycan too. I have only seen him once in a pub match, and he can carry quite well. Meepo is quite a fun one to learn and play (even if you lose badly :3), so I suggest you try.

Don't forget to play more Weaver, though. It's good for you :D

Treant Protector and Visage are both pretty rare in my experience and both are good heroes.

Treant Protector's Living Armor is beast, he's definitely underplayed, just know that the lane he's in will have to be a passive one, beyond that, his other lanes can be so much more aggressive than usual
Chaos moves at it's own pace.

Outworld Devourer/Destroyer is personally my favorite. Not picked too often simply b/c he gets shutdown by magic immunity, and he's supposed to be a carry. Definitely not the greatest choice in competitive matches (unless you're one of the last players picking a hero and OD's a counter for someone) but he can actually do pretty well in pubs where teamwork/communication aren't as strong.

Thanks so much for all the response! I tried out a few of them, and they were pretty fun (mostly).

Jakiro was pretty chill (pun intended), his ice path is great and his ult is awesome. I will definitely play more of him.

I tried out Meepo... Emphasis on 'tried'. He's fun, but I just can't micro him well at all. Maybe someday I'll be good enough to play him.

Enigma... What do I even say about him? I mean, jeezes, black hole... He is a guy that I will be playing for sure.

My game with Wisp was... Interesting. I was with a bit of a noob team on the bot match, and our drow rushed a divine rapier. I picked it up because I was the only one near her when she died, and I ended up carrying the team. I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen. :/ Anyway, Wisp was kind of weird. He's very support-focused, I might play him if I'm going for hard support and a bit of ganking with that TP of his.

Still to do: Treant Protector, Visage, Mirana, Outworld, Lycan, Chen
