So, I played a game recently with Safecyn. Basically, I ran Sand King mid because I saw a Kunkka and it was easiest lane ever, 2 kills, dude underestimated my hero's laning prowess, and an assist from my allied Magi made the guy terrified of approaching the wave. Point was, tranquils and midas were finished before minute 7, which I only do on SK if early game went swellow. Still got Blink at 14 minutes.

Afterwards, I was like "I have a midas, I don't see us pushing, I can't gank Juggernaut" so i decided to get Octarine Core, reduce my cooldown on my Midas, print some money, we Arc Warden now. Basically the game led to one of my highest GPMs ever (also because prophet ran aghs against SK). The result was a very difficult to kill tank semi carry with a ton of hoarded buyback money.

So, basically, who do you think you would buy this combo of items on? I recall a while ago Unscathed suggested it on Chaos Knight but him being a strength right clicker made that hard to justify. It would have to be a hero that can get Midas, not require a huge item, and then go into Octarine, extra points if they have option of blade mail.

Invoker tends to get Midas. In this case, he can get his Octarine sooner, maybe after one "in between item" and he can fund a ton of buyback gold soon.

Nature's Prophets love their Midae, this one can even go blade mail, but with an early Octarine Core, he can easily hoard even more money to feed to the enemy. Given how you have to be alive to midas things on lower cooldown, requires some pretty good play.

Bristleback, a hero that I was wanting to test this out on, basically the hero is not a great farmer, and he's rather level dependent, so the idea is to go Midas Octarine to maximize his farm asap, and he's a great Blade Mail carrier too. Probably only viable on a safelane bristle.

Doom, also reduces devour cooldown! Don't do this, this is actually a pretty bad idea.

What do you think? Would this type of build be viable on any heroes? If so whO?

Ah like :) Theory crafting at it's finest :))))))

The Idea to build octarine one Natures came me on monday. To combo that with a midas is pretty nice.
Shorter CD on Midas = more farm
Shorter CD on Treants = more farm + more push
Shorter CD on Ult = more farm + more push.
Shorter CD on Teleport = more farm, more ganks, more push (depends on usage)

and he often build use items so he could spam them more maybe midas octarin bot's Hex shivas would be a tanky pushing maschine with tons of CC.

Tried to build a casting DK was not very impressed with the result due to farming issues maybe. Midas + Octarine could solve that issue. He is a mana starved hero profits from HP. And has a Spamable aoe nuke + a stun and is dependend on his ulti to do things so shorter cd on that. But he would go into a complete new direction. But same issues like CK.

Testet Octarine on Mirana - was just plain ****ty. She gets tanky but the cd on arrow is not big enough so she doesn't geht enough from midas either.

Death Prophet is the only hero I see this being decent on.

Invoker, just no, he needs a mobility item, and he needs aghs. Besides, only levels matter on the hero not gold, so having tons of farm come late game isn't very important.

Bristle...maybe, if you want a farming build on the hero.

Some back of a *** packet maths at work:

Nectarine costs 5900 gold.
Midas grants 190 gold per use.
You need to use Midas 30 times to pay this back.
Nectarine reduces midas CD to 75 seconds.
It'll take at least 37.5 minutes to pay back your nectarine investment from when you complete it.
If you want to be mean, times this by 4 to account for the times you could have used Midas anyway.

Obviously this doesn't take into account the XP bonus, but really it comes down to how useful the Nectarine is on this hero to start with, how long you expect the game to last etc.

This sounds awesome in theory, the only downside is that, it'll be past 20 minutes before you have your first actual item that is useful in fights. This leaves you extremely vulnerable if the enemy team decides to push or take fights. You'll have a core hero that has taken a significant portion of farm, but has a midas octarine to offer.

The only hero I'd probably do it on is Zeus, since Octarine Core is arguably best on that hero. You get a midas early, stop for an Aether Lens and rush the Octarine Core. It might work, since Zeus as a core mainly needs levels more than items to contribute in fights.

On heroes like Invoker, you need an Eul's for initiation/escape or an Aghs to be able to cast more than 2-3 spells in a fight.

I hate early Octarine on Prophet; the hero's global presence with Teleport begs for early aggression, and playing passive with him seems bad. I think that's one of the reasons that the item build on prophet has transitioned from early midas into Shadow Blade into Maelstrom, towards more of early aggression, like Treads Drum Blademail which suits the hero much better with his global presence. Octarine on prophet is extremely situational, if you are going full split push with aghs, to get treants out on all lanes with a reduced cooldown on Wrath of Nature.

Bristleback octarine was a trolly pub build a while ago iirc, but that too seems like a suboptimal build. It sure helps you stomp the enemy if you are already ahead, but the item offers nothing synergistic to the hero except the reduced cooldown on Quill Spray. I'd rather see a Crimson Guard or Guardian Greaves on him with that early gold, which both tank up the hero and help the entire team. In short, Octarine BB can work, but is extremely selfish and suboptimal imo.

Doom Octarine, please no.

Well, this isn't really a build that is Plan A, it's more like Insurance, and its on a hero that Octarine is good on anyway (so that the Octarine paying for itself s not a big deal, if the item is actually useful on the hero), if you didn't do badly early, your hero is pretty good at not dying (since your lowered Midas cooldown loses its flare if you keep dying), and your enemies don't really have means to push (that's a reason it worked out on SK, since people are afraid to 5 man push against him).

And the build is mainly to max out exp, and the hoard of gold is nice because its reliable, so deaths are not as crippling, its like you were killing a lot, even if you weren't.

While you brought it up, I'm actually an advocate of early game prophet as well, since Midas doesn't work if you're dead, and the global map presence does gradually weaken as your respawn time keeps getting longer.

And for Bristle, Octarine is not really great on its own, since it doesn't make him that much tankier, so I would recommend a Blade Mail to pair with it so then you are really hard to kill.

Zeus it might be okay on if you plan to go late, but the hero seems to scale better with 2k-3k gold utility items rather than Octarine and lots of expensive items, since Octarine makes him easy to catch out of position. Maybe if he gets blink after Midas.
