Hello xD

Some of you may recognize me from Smitefire. Maybe. Okay probably not!

But yeah, I'm sorta into Dota now. I've been playing a lot of Spirit Breaker. I really REALLY enjoy him. But I also like playing Ogre Magi. Those two are my baes.

But I was sorta wondering if anyone had some general tips about those two heroes? Or any sort of general tips, really? I'm not new to MOBAS, but I was just looking for some advice? Also, any advice for how to counter Phantom Assassin or Ursa would be greatly appreciated.

I don't consider myself too experienced in the game (~600 hrs and 450 games total) but if you are asking about Spirit Breaker... he's by far my best hero too :)

The 2 builds I generally run on him are -

1) A utility/tank build, to soak up tons of damage allowing the rest of your team to move in. Maxing Charge of Darkness first isn't bad, since it gives you a decent stun time and don't underestimate the extra Charge speed - moving quickly can mean the difference between getting the kill or the enenemy running away.
Power Treads and Urn of Shadows are your early items pre-10 mins, after that basically everything is dependent on the situation. However, for most cases I'm a huge fan of Drum of Endurance+ Aghanim's Scepter. It gives you an incredible cd reduction on your ult, meaning you can use it 2-3 times if fights draw out long enough. Past that, stuff like Crimson Guard, Heaven's Halberd, Black King Bar... basically any tank item that fits the situation.

2) A much more offensive dps-focused build. Here I max Greater Bash first for the bonus damage it can give, followed by Empowering Haste because as Spirit Breaker, more movespeed = more damage in your bash.
Treads and Urn once again to start off with, after that you should pickup Mask of Madness and Armlet of Mordiggian which really strengthen your right-click dps. However, since Spirit Breaker still cant really go toe-to-toe vs harder carries (like PA), Blademail or Heaven's Halberd can really help out. Of course there's Black King Bar and Skull Basher to round out the build.

As for countering PA and Ursa, both are very good right-clicking manfight heroes that you preferably don't wanna go 1v1 with. While PA has huge evasion, she really suffers from heavy magic damage so something like Lina can be useful as she blows up PA with a single combo most of the time. You can also make Monkey King Bar on a carry and fight her, but you still need to be wary about that 450% crit.
Ursa while being much more durable, is a bit easier to kite around, so any good ranged carry ( Sniper and Drow Ranger instantly come to mind) can be useful, as long as you make sure to stay the hell away from him.
Silver Edge is also a decent-ish item choice against both, since it disables passives and both PA and Ursa rely upon their passives to fight. Only problem is that the debuff lasts just 4 seconds so you will have to be quick.

To help you enter dota (or any MOBA tbh):

- Purge's guide: https://purgegamers.true.io/g/dota-2-guide/
He's an ex-pro which now spends most of his time teaching new people with his videos and coaching.

- Sando's guide for new people here in dota fire, with mistakes to avoid: http://www.dotafire.com/dota-2/guide/avoiding-basic-errors-a-noobs-guide-9637

Oh, and Xyrus is right: to counter any hero you should think how they damage you. Notice that both Phantom Assassin and Ursa damage you with simple right clicks, causing you physical damage. To counter physical damage, you buy a Ghost Scepter and activate it before they hit you, so that they aren't able to attack you (it's like you're a ghost or something like that for a period of time). Also items that grant armor, because the more armor you get, the less physical damage you receive.

If you against someone with magical damage, however (see Queen of Pain, Lina, Crystal Maiden), you must think of other item options, namely a Black King Bar, that blocks all magical damage. This is the basic rule of countering a hero: consider type of damage they mostly do, buy an item against that.

The same goes for your heroes: Spirit Breaker does physical damage, whereas Ogre Magi does magical damage. You want to think how to make that damage greater. If you deal physical damage through right clicks, attack speed is the way to go; items like Mask of Madness and Moon Shard are good for SB. If you deal magical damage through your spells, you're gonna need to buy stuff to boost your mana ( Arcane Boots) and Inteligence in generall or your spells ( Aghanim's Scepter, Octarine Core, etc).

Also, always consider what are your biggest weaknesses: do you have good armor? Do you have good ways of regenerating mana and HP? Do you have magical protection?

I think this is the basics to start off.

Good luck and welcome to dota! Anything you need just pm me, I would glady help.

(this is an surprise lol didn't suspect you to come here XD)

I would recommend looking at those guides. (Also chichi purge isn't a pro anymore he is a really (good and) helpful caster. And going from most MOBa's to dota is still a big change because of different things e.g. the stacking). I would recommend watching some vids from him too he will probably have some Sb vids or ogre vids. as he always talks about decisions he made or why build this.

Also on the bkb It's a really nice item to have on SB (because getting stunned or hexed mid charge is just annoying)
In love with the random button

Well, I said I was getting into DOTA, where else would I go? xD

And yeah, DOTA is a lot different than other MOBAs. I enjoy it though. Idk. I'm still sorta making up my mind on it.

But to all of you, thank you very much for the help.
