I thought it would make sense and be interesting if Faceless Void's Chronoshere had the effect of freezing the timer of Legion Commander's Duel for the duration of the sphere when cast upon two duelling opponents. This combo might be used offensively to help win duels, or as a potential counter to Duel. Overall though I think the interaction would be a buff to LC and duel rather than a nerf for the following reasons:

1. Prolonging a friendly LC's duel with Chrono and insuring the win can be immensely beneficial, especially in the early game when Duel is level 1 and more difficult to use, giving your LC a better chance of completing duels and snowballing.

2. Friendlies can still interfere with the duel in an enemy Chrono if positioned correctly, and so your team may benefit anyway.

3. Duel might be used to bait the enemy into a low impact Chrono thereby weakening their teamfight.

If this amounts to a buff as I suggest then I don't believe its a particular huge one so as to make LC overpowered, and it may encourage more carry LC and support Void gameplay which would be a small but welcome shift to the meta imo.

Any comments/ideas/criticisms are welcome.

*(Tested and confirmed - the interaction I describe does not exist currently in game)

Duel is a status effect. Chronosphere is a stun, and there is no reason a stun should stop a status effect's duration :).

Also, your idea seems very... unique. Why limit the interaction with such a specific spell? With this change Chronosphere should also stop Unstable Concoction, Last Word, etc.

On the support void thing, it sucks.

Unlike its name might suggest, Chronosphere doesn't actually stop time...it's a stun, that's it. So right now it interacts with Duel the same way as other stuns.

It would be pretty interesting if you made chrono actually stop time. Like, effect timers don't count down during chrono, damage over time doesn't tick, projectiles are frozen when they enter the edge of the sphere to only hit when it ends, etc. Maybe would be a bit too good since projectiles can no longer hit Void during chrono...but at least just for the realism could be fun.

But then if you want to be 100% realist and make chrono actually stop time for everyone but Void, heroes caught in chrono should only take damage from Void not from his allies. Like, if the time is actually stopped, Chain Frost doesn't move, Death Ward doesn't shoot and Macropyre doesn't burn :)

Besides you can get a time paradox e.g if Legion Commander is caught in chrono but her target isn't. The Duel effect ends on her target before it ends on LC. What does that even mean? Does LC start fighting herself, since she has a debuff that tells her to fight but her opponent doesn't have it anymore and can go free? Einstein pls :)

As the fact of actually stopping time in chrono would create a paradox that destroys the dota universe itself, Icefrog took the easy way out and made it a stun.

Don't see any paradox in the situation you described, no one said that debuff should be mutual, so LC will act like an aggroed creep, and if she kills her target during her debuff, she get bonus dmg, while if she dies she doesn't grant dmg. Halberds and all that stuff don't work on LC as well. That's if the debuff is responsible for target aggro, bonus dmg collecting and halberd immunity, and I think it is, because it is logical to do so judging from limited OOP knowledge I have.

Hamster pls. That one was too easy, giff REAL paradoxes.

Make it a Bane cast Fiend's Grip on an unit inside chrono then. The debuff the unit gets doesn't tick down during chrono, so then he gets gripped for the full duration once chrono ends while Bane is just walking around? Sounds pretty stupid :)

Or Enigma casting Black Hole on the edge of chrono, the black hole disable doesn't tick down so what happens when chrono ends? :)

Both Fiend's Grip and Black Hole last as long as they are channeled, if you interrupt Bane or PGG, their ults end immediately, so when Chrono ends, target get disabled for as long as they continue channeling. If max channeling duration ends before Chronosphere does, Enigma or Bane are free to do what they want, and their targets will be released from the debuff as soon as Chrono ends.

What's next?

Well, actually, there is a part of this in the game already, because of abilities like Leap or Pounce. If a unit is in the air because of an ability, they get trapped in the air and I believe become untargetable. Just food for thought ;)

Black Hole is easy. AFAIK, Black Holes in the world bend time through sheer force of gravity, so that section of chrono still is affected. ez -)

In DoTA it actually stopped some effects like cyclone - or prolonged, Eul's was a good counter to Chronosphere because it lasted as long as the chrono.
