The way I look at Ranked.

It's a number indicating your "impact" in a course over many games. You usually gain mmr by winning games, which subsequently means you are "impacting" more that you have been before.

So if you can't win games at your 1k mmr, then most likely you belong there. I've been fluctuating between 3.5k and 4.2k. And ill tell you right now there is a difference between these mmrs.

I bet if i watched your games, I'd find a lot of Battefury Bounty hunters, Shadowblade ags Luna's, Straigh Ags invoker builds ( i doubt invokers at 1k can even play that hero but hey w.e ) and a LOT of Pudge pickers.

MMR is no protection against terrible players - last game I played last night was with a couple of friends, we're all 4k+ (4.6k in one case) and still ended up with the worst Sand King I've ever seen. He built a Wraith Band. He was 11 levels below everyone else on the team. Even with a Blink Dagger he couldn't land an Epicenter into my double-freakin Reverse Polaritys. Never mind a cow's arse, he couldn't hit the side of a barn with a banjo. Luckily, after a rough start we managed to make it count without him.

The thing is that at various times you will end up with leavers, serial whingers, terrible picks, awful builds, people with zero teamplay skills, supports who don't know what wards are, etc. They will cost you games, they will irritate you and you will lose because of them.

BUT, it's the same for everyone. Statistically, these things balance out over enough games. We can all have a bad day. One way or another, the people in your matches have roughly the same MMR as you - this is not necessarily the same thing as skill. Also bear in mind that a lot of people tend to specialise somewhat in roles and heroes, so them picking outside that can have a detrimental effect.

Ultimately, you are going to be held back at times by your team mates, but you can also be boosted up by them. Over the course of many games, your attitude, skill and knowledge (probably in that order) will impact on outcomes. The system is the same for everyone, it's up to you to make it work for you if you want to move upwards. Look objectively at your own performances - don't assume you did everything right and your team let you down. Encourage your team to work together and make suggestions about strategy. Ensure you're doing everything that you would want an ally to be doing if they were in that role on a team.

its a man who thinks like I think! only he is better at dota lol. you just summed up all my games, I think you missed right clicking the creep wave endlessly, spamming abilities or never useing them, never buying any items, tower diving, trying to jungle as drow lvl 1, 1v5ing all the time (actually tp's into it with vision not just being jumped)

I had a game yesterday where we lost purely becouse of the enemy slark pwning our face, even though he was a horrible player.
I was beating him SO hard in lane it wasnt even funny, and yet my teammates stull manage too feed a brown boots slark to godlikeness.

The worst thing was that i was playing with 2 friends, who were playing horrible. ;_;

Soooooooo..... Yea, GL HF when you reach ~3400 MMR.

Trust me dude, even at my MMR i get a core morphling goign full agi sans-BKB tping to a tier two and TRYING TO SOLO DEFEND a 5 man push when 3 of our temamates are dead.

The higher you go, the more ******s you get because they SHOULD know better. I wouldn't expect you to outlane a 4k player. But i WOUDLT expect a 4k player to at least hold his own vs anohther 5k player. Trust me.

Btw i've done junlge invoker and that stuff is absolute horrendous lmao

Like I said, If I played with your mmr range right now, and had a jungle drow, or 1v5ing all the time, I probably could carry them. it's honestly not hard. I heavily outlane 3.2-4k players prety handidly. I played on my smurf today, and i jugnled ursa, and if you do that, you can solo rosh at 4 mintues, and they were astounded that i was able to do that lmao.

Just goes to show that your knowledge of dota is NOT the same as mine unfortunately.

lol party mmr means nothing to be honest. A 6k playerr can carry a 3k player to 4.6 party mmr preaty easily.

Solo mmr is where its all at dude

hey hey, I find that offensive. You probably could carry the team with a carry like luna, However because your team is always dead because they go in 1 at a time you actually end up going 1 v 5, also what you-fail to understand is this drow dies in the jungle like 8 times in 8 min, also the enemy always seems to have a bloodseeker, and he always comes in and kills the drow another 20 times for free because no one down here actually knows how to run. So if you play Luna do insane ancient stacks and in general get tons of farm, only then a 6 slotted bloodseeker with a bunch of rapiers decides to come over and 1 shot you.
