Poll Question:

Who will have the bigger impact on the competitive scene?
Broodmother
Phoenix
I think they will have an equal impact
I don't think they will have any noticeable impact

So I was looking through the gameplay changes regarding the Oracle update and I saw that Broodmother and Phoenix are going to be enabled in Captain's mode. Any opinions concerning these two heroes and their potential in the competitive scene?

60% of Valve's income now come from butchering chickens. #Keepo.

If McDonalds sponsored Valve, I will lose my mind. (is it Mc.D, or is KFC too?)

Anyways, I love KFC.

On topic, Broodmother is an absolute lane dominator. Remember if enemy ban Zeus then u shuld ban Broodmother

I think that Phoenix will have a much bigger impact in competitive play. For players who actually know what they're doing (not pubs), Brood is just to easily counterable. Phoenix actually has potential to wreck if he can get some quick levels.

Broodmother fits the idea of creating space. Since this patch the meta is all about making space for your carry she will probably have a pretty big impact.
Phoenix can be strong, but is imo too farm dependant. You need levels, you need farm and lose most of your effectiveness when BKBs come up. Maybe as a greedy dual lane support, but definitely not mid or solo offlane.

Broodmother was already once in CM. She got removed in 6.79 because IceFrog buffed her a lot and people started complaining. Phoenix on the other hand will be a good with other AoE ulties.

Both heroes can be countered, sure.

You generally don't want to play Broodmother against heroes with effective creep clearing abilites, such as Tidebringer or Dual Breath + Liquid Fire, because Spiderlings will feed gold and expereience those heroes so much, and Broodmother won't be effective at pushing. Also Track and Amplify Damage is something to take note on, and Slardar is picked more often these days.

I wasn't analyzing this that much, but I feel like Troll Warlord is a great counter to Supernova. His ult gives great attack speed globally. Don't get me wrong. I don't think that teams will pick Troll Warlord just to counter Phoenix ult.
