Actually I think it is viable, at least against an aggressive pushing trilane ( Pugna or Leshrac?) Because Illuminate can effectively cuts down the creep wave and render the push useless.

The gold and level head off is great because a quick mekansm is never bad (if we're talking KOTL here he can get it before 10 minute), especially in early game when the heal can practically heal a quarter HP. Not to mention his aghanim upgrade, it's VERY strong scouting and team fight power. Having aghanim make Keeper of the Light practically ungankable (thus reducing enemy kill count), and is better the faster you get it. Illuminate also potentially heals the entire team 375 HP (much more than Death Pulse (which is of course, better sooner)

Aboit the level (especially against trilane), imagine eating 500 damage at level 5. Yeah... and if he can reach lvl 6 faster, it means better teamfight by A LOT woth Blinding Light. Of course, there are much better offlaner ( Bounty Hunter FTW) but against certain strat this is actually viable

Do note that all of agh's upgrades on Ezalor only occur during the day time thus he is ungankable during the DAY. Much like Night Stalker which aghs at night.
And yes a dual offlane with KotL possibly an aggressive dual (just push with someone like Leshrac or Pugna) and definitely tri.
Your new diet for heroes; You will need 4 wards (cuz wards taste better), 1 set of tangoes, 1 mango, 1 cheese.
With this you can make a nice Tango Mango Cheese platter. You can wash this all down with a nice bottle of water, Can be flavoured with red, green, yellow, blue, purple AND GOLD!
Caution: Taking roshan 3 times is required.

Wow, ok thanks for all of this!
Now I can continue to work on KotL guide.
However on Sando's comment about having no escape mechanism, you could continuously by TP scrolls from the side shop and then TP to the tower. Bad Idea, I know but it's an option.

TP scrolls don't really cut it in the kind of situation most offlaners find themselves in - e.g. you're up against a trilane with various slows/stuns. If they've got at least a mini-stun, you can't TP anyway, and KOTL is pretty damned squishy so the channelling is a problem too.

Compare this to abilities like Leap or Timber Chain which can reliably get you out of trouble, dodge stuns, etc. Like Manic_E mentioned, KOTL's also a pretty good semi-jungler (Golums aside), which is another reason he's quite a popular trilane hero.

KOTL may not be farm dependent, but he is somewhat level dependent - if an enemy trilane runs their camps properly, you have to move up if you want any XP, and KOTL is too vulnerable for this really. Also, Illuminate pushes the lane horribly so can again leave you short on XP.

Like I said, against Pushers, yes, generally, no.

And you can both write a guide :).

Keeper of the Light is such a good lane partner though. Pretty much only gets picked up when there's babysitting duty to do.

His ability to defend a push is huge though, so I suppose you could play him in the offlane provided you had a river and lane ward covering you. Once you had Illuminate Level 1 and Chakra Magic Level 2, you'd never need to leave except to force people off other lanes.

I realise that.. about 10 minutes later after posting.

Nice to know.

Now that I find helpful. Now I can't run KotL as a hard support anymore... :'(. I like playing the hard support.

Just came here to say I once got a godlike killing spree as a solo off-lane KotL.

I had a pal who played mid Keeper of the Light before. He was trying to throw - got Bottle and upped stats instead of Chakra Magic, but it actually worked out pretty well. He farmed up a Radiance and a Heart and was pretty much unstoppable. It was funny to watch, and even funnier that it actually worked xD

To Peppo and Glenn T, Yes these are possiblity cases but if you tried this say against a higher end player such as you Peppo then it won't work because you know exactly how you need to deal with it... I think
