I've always wondered what order damage block is applied. These days I get vanguard on Spectre. How does damage block work?

For example I have 22% dispersion, 50% armour and a vanguard and someone attacks me for 200 damage.

Armour blocks 50% --> block 100 damage
Dispersion blocks 22% --> blocks either 22 or 44 damage probably 44 since the original damage is 200
Vanguard blocks 40 damage
Spectre takes 200 - 100 - 44 - 40 = 16 damage!

Or is vanguard first?

Vanugard blocks 40 damage --> 160 damage left
Dispersion blocks 22% of 160 so 35 damage --> 125 damage left
Armour blocks 50% damage so I take 62?

I am also curious how this applies to bristleback. I suspect its the first case since I find bristle and spectre impossible to kill sometimes

"Damage Block will also occur before any armor reductions."

So yes, it would be Vanguard -> Dispersion -> then Armour Reduction. However, this means that damage blocked by Vanguard is ignored by Dispersion.

P.S.:- You shouldn't really buy a Vanguard on Spectre, her Illusions don't benefit from it at all, raw Strength Items are better on her, i.e. Drum of Endurance, Heart of Tarrasque, etc.

Bristleback is a bit more complicated, I'm not sure if it's calculated before or after Vanguard, or whether it's a case of only the highest value Proccing, i.e. if Bristleback blocks more than 40 Damage, Vanguard would be ignored.
