Hey guys! I've been playing dota for a while now and I have just recently started exploring the All Pick mod for Dota2. The only problem is I am finding the sheer amount of heroes to be staggering and outside of randoming I don't know where to start.

In the limited heroes format I found my favorite character to be was Sand King. I think he forced me to learn how to play a little of all roles early on.

Of the heroes I have tried outside in all pick I have had most success with Slark, mainly because of his speed (have a hell of a time aiming his damn leap though.) I played with timbersaw but I did horribly, tied bane and did ok but I didn't have much fun, and played treant alright.

Who else should I give a try?

Everyone should play Meepo at least once to know why people avoid him :>

Also possibly magnus, enigma, tidehunter, and when you're comfortable try someone like puck, seeing as you seem to lean toward initiator picks
Step 1: Pick Bristleback
Step 2: type in all chat:"GL hf"
Step 3: solo offlane
Step 4: first blood triple kill solo vs trilane
Step 5: continue head butting keyboard
Step 6: don't care, Bristleback doesn't give a ****
Step 7: screenshot repeated: BB OP comments in all chat
Step 8: alternate games with Slark pick

She's pretty difficult to play for a newcomer, since she requires a good amount of farm to be effective.

Instead, trying supports like Nyx Assassin, Lion or Crystal Maiden, that are similar to Sand King (well, except for CM), would be a better choice in my opinion.

Yeah but in pub matches it's not that hard to get her core fast .
I'm not a pro(more like an average player who has just finished being a noob :D) and yet she's my most successful .

Honestly, I saw a lot of pub players going for a 25-minute (or even more) Battle Fury, which means they're useless for roughly half of the match: in this case getting someone like Juggernaut or Slark, that can do well even with little farm, gives more to your team. Well, I even met some level 60-70 players getting Hand of Midas at 15 minutes on Faceless Void or not having Linken's Sphere at 30 minutes on Weaver/ Morphling, so that's understandable. :D

I hate rushing Linken's Sphere, because usually, if you get it, that means you will need something else too for fighting, meaning that you need to farm more, and just becoming more of a burden for your team.I just get drums on both Weaver and Morphling and from there going for something bigger( Desolator respectively Manta Style / Ethereal Blade )
