So I'm quite new to dota2 and I found a few good heroes I like to play. One of them is bloodseeker(noobish I know). So usually after I get power treads I start jungling to increase my farm safely and quickly. My question is is it selfish of me to jungle while my teammates are defending the towers. I don't want to turn into those selfish players who rage at supports for not buying wards and gettin great scores while my team has average to bad scores. Feedback greatly appreciated.

As a BS, you should probably go mid. Its more xp and gold than jungling. If the team makes a decision to defend a tower, then you should go depending on if you guys can defend(and possibly deny) it or trade towers. It's not selfish to farm up while the team defends towers if you can outcarry the enemy team (4 protect 1) but this rarely happens in pubs.

It depends really - as a hero like Bloodseeker you're not a hard carry and have a good midgame. Farm the jungle during downtime, but go defend towers if you think you can get kills out of it. With a hero like BS you should be looking to gank if your ultimate is off cooldown.

it's not selfish, you need the farm, but PLEASE GOD gank some time. If you are Axe just put your battle hunger on the enemies every now and than, as Bloodseeker you have pretty secure kills with your ult so USE it, as prophet just finishing people off helps a lot. When you see your team defending towers and you are 90% sure you can contribute to the fight than do it.

I agree with what TACBG(TheAmasingComicBookGuy - Damn that's long) said. You need to help when you jungle, however your GMP(Gold per minute) is significantly lower than on a lane except a few heroes that can keep uo: Enigma, Batrider etc.

I saw sing sing getting a 6 min Blink Dagger yesterday on Batrider while jungling. The average is 12 minutes.

I usually do go in the mid lane but after the landing phase is over I usually jungle to farm safely without getting ganked as much. I usually do tank when I see the opportunity and almost always get the kill. So is jingling ok when the laning phase is over.

Really depends on the hero.
Example 1 - Bloodseeker
Lane mid if possible, get as much farm as possible. This is your slowest point of the game. Get your treads and start whatever else you want to as well as your ult.
Mid game, you want to be in most team fights assuming your laning phase went well. If it didn't, go finish your treads. This is your strongest point in the game. Chase down kills, rupture people and generally cause hurt.
Late game - you need to have enough snowball to survive here. BS can hit hard as a right clicker if leveled right but no where near as hard as other heroes. Spam silence, pump yourself up but don't keep the game running too long.

Example 2 - Natures Prophet
Early - Get levels from being offlane, farm as much as safely possible
mid - get in jungle, finish your midas. Tele in for ganks and start split pushing as soon as your midas is up
Late - hopefully they will have no towers and you'll be fat with sheep stick, desolater and whatever else you want to buy. Get kills, smash bases, win game

Example 3 - Spectre
Early game - Get last hits, survive.
mid game - keep farming, you still suck at this point. Join team fights if you're really needed
Late game - Kill everyone and everything. Teams are for chumps at this point (ok, so thats overkill). If you are farmed well enough you'll win the game.

So looking at those 3 examples, you and your team needs to play differently for each one. If bloodseeker is your hardest carries, mid game is where you will excel. You want to finish laning ahead. If you can't, then jungle to get your core. As a rule, you don't want to be jungling purely for farm past about 15-20 minutes (if you are waiting for a push, jungle away) but you want to be in there killing. NP is gonna bring the fights to him with that split push. But if you are pushing one lane and your team is fighting elsewhere, you need to decided whether or not to join them in a fight. If you have the upper hand (your other 4 have massive team fight abilities) make sure you are trading towers. Spectre is a true example of a hero that needs 4 protect 1 which is why you don't see a lot of him doing well in pub games. If you can do it and let him free farm for 30 minutes without giving up many kills/ towers, you'll win the game once spectre finishes farming. The longer the game goes, the better it is in this case.

^ This

The trick to being a good Carry/Semi-Carry is to be as useless for as little time as possible.

While you don't have your Power Treads any Core Items or Rupture, you're too weak to be much use in a teamfight, and should focus on beefing yourself up as fast as possible. Going Mid will give you the most Gold and Exp possible, so you should only Jungle if you think you're going to die a lot, or if you have 3 or 4 more Carries/Semi-Carries in your Team. But feel free to go for Kills or Towers, if you think you can get them.

Once you've completed your Power Treads and your First Core Item, you should be strong enough to start going round the map in a group of 4 or 5 and getting kills in Teamfights. Hopefully, this will happen before the 15-20 minute mark, but if you're forced to jungle, you won't be able to do much at this point. From here on in, only Jungle if you don't have enough people to push a Tower and can't Gank anyone.

imo, there are better Junglers than Bloodseeker, so avoid the jungle if you can, but if you can't farm a lane or just can't Push/Gank/Roshan/etc. then it's perfectly fine to Jungle.
