I start like this :

2x Iron Branch
2x Gaunglets of Strength
1x Healing Salve
1x Tango

A lot of stats that will help you.

Then go straight for Bottle and Power Treads.

what hades said, also turn on your Rot for a split second after you hit the creep so you can get an easy last hit even if you missed it.

You can just start with 3 branches and a tango, so you have 300 gold saved up.

You generally don't need Stout Shield as Pudge. No, you do not need Vanguard either.

For those specific heroes:

Queen of Pain : Stay away, just leech experience and do not try to get last hits until the lane is pushed to your side so you don't get harassed that much. Compensate the disadvantage by ganking later on.

Storm Spirit : Pretty easy, just stay away from his Q and try not to get hit by E. Again, compensate with ganking.

Puck : Do NOT get hit by Illusory Orb, it isn't that hard to dodge.

Outworld Devourer : If he knows what he's doing, you can NOT win this lane. Try to stay around 500 or 600 units away from the creepwave so you don't risk getting imprisoned.

Generally, Pudge is really bad at the mid lane in the laning stage against most mid heroes. He is ran mid because he really needs the levels, and against ranged heroes he does not offer any good lane control, unless you count Meathook to drag enemies near your tower (which is unreliable at early stages}.

An alternative is to call for ganks on mid.

The hardest lane for Pudge to win Imo is against Batrider. You will not get anything out of the lane.

This just causes you to lose life and puts you at greater risk for being ganked.

Every pro player does it, watch Dendi's Pudge.

Dendi was never a strong Pudge player. Using rot early game to last hit is a waste of life. If the other player is close by while you are trying to kil a creep and you use rot where as both the creep and the other player take damaage then that would be a valid reason to use Rot in lane during early game.

How can you say Dendi is not a strong Pudge player when he made everyone ban and get scared by him at The International, the biggest DotA 2 event? This is simply ignorant, especially coming from a casual player who doesn't know what real DotA is.
