Poll Question:

How viable is jungle lycan after the nerf to the wolves?

I left dota 2 for hon a while ago and when I came back I noticed the wolves health was almost nerfed by 50% which hurts very much early and Roshan is harder for him aswell.

So could he be viable for laning now? if he maxes E & W his team will get a huge bonus aswell as himself, though you could still stack wolves in lane.

I haven't really been here before but I expect I will now.

Also a general lycanthrope thread about him
Shine O' so bright.
Shine O' so light.
Shine O' so beautiful.
Cause the Full Moon has come.
And so has the man of the night.

He can lane/jungle. At lvl 1 jungle it's pretty hard till around 5 or so. But once that vlads is built he is really easy to jungle. Roshan is taken at 11/12 or so now. Lycan is a very rare pick in competitive and pub play but in pubs he is really easy to gank with his ulti. It's more that they panic as they cant slow him and escape. I see lycan built as mid game semi carry hero.
The build on ihm is normally maxing his q(wolves) and e(passive). This buffs his damage so much. Imo, valve reacts way to much with the nerfs. I mean I can understand the nerf but they make the hero unpickable in competitive and pub play. If they wanna nerf, look at drow.
Lane, was its probably just the same build but he can solo somewhat.
Hope I answered your questions.

He was OP in the past (those level 4 wolves can take down a squishy support pretty much on their own early doors), but yeah the nerf was maybe a little much. He's tricky to jungle now early on as you basically have to tank most of the damage yourself - it's possible if a little slow - once he gets going you can rip through it in no time. Ideally you want to some weak creeps to beat up and maybe do a couple of lane pulls to help out.

I think jungle is still viable, but very very less efficient than laning: basically, you have to farm the small creep camp and the pull camp (after you creep pull, obviously) until you get at least a pair of Tranquil Boots while saving enough mana for Summon Wolves.
After that point you can easily jungle tanking the camps tanks to your Tranquils/ Morbid Mask until you get a Vladmir's Offering disassembling your boots, but it's a very slow way to go.

I tried to lane with Lycan once, and things went really well: I maxed out the wolves first as they help in pushing and ganking/fighting and let you jungle after level 7 or so, then I carried my team with the usual Black King Bar + Skull Basher build. He's still decent, but very less powerful in jungle (just like Lifestealer in my opinion).

Basically what Peppo said, the only difference is that you need to micro them and utilize other camps. The Tranquils are a bit much though, once you get your Morbid its pretty smooth sailing. Roshan isn't too difficult to take, just make sure you have Treads and Vlads.

Saryu from Fever clan proved that Lycan is still OP as ever, now he just takes skill to use.
My lone druid starting items are 12 Iron wood branches, 6 for the hero and 6 for the bear. Even if the bear does not get stats more twigs are OP on any hero.
