Hey community of dotafire!

I am really curious what your opinions are towards the current guide-rating system on dotafire. I want to draw your attention to the following points:

1. The way it works right now, denies fame and views to those guides which are new or just simply overlooked due to the massive amount of guides getting posted at the same time sometimes. A guide can be absolutely awesome but only receives 4 bars of the currently 5 available even if everyone who voted gave it a +1.
The conclusion: Nearly all of the guides here on dotafire are rated at 4 of 5 bars while the quality among them clearly differs a lot! Basically resulting in misleading guides over and over again.

2. The current possibilities to rate are pathetic in my opinion.(I am not flameing the admins, I just want things to improve and create a discussion, it's nothing personal, obviously)
You can either rate +1 or -1 while +1 for example differs from: "amazing guide" to "yea, it's okay".
How am I supposed to objectively rate a guide with only these two options? It simply doesn't work and the current rating system just doesn't differ as much as it should.

My thoughts on improveing this:
A system which would allow you to be more specific would be much better if you for example could rate with numbers from 1 to 10 while 10 would be "amazing" and 1 be "horrible". It doesn't have to be like this but it really needs to give you more possible rating options.

My concerns:
I don't know how big of a task it is to change things like that(or if it is even possible) and I am not demanding anything by any means. I also see that there are a few disadvantages of the system I described above.

discuss!

I agree with you.

I think there should be one to five stars, and you vote 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars depending on how satisfied you are with the guide.

I like this idea, like five stars the best, one star the worst.

The old percent and the actual bars are the same things, they just look different.

Also, if you want something, you must argument why it is better, not just an useless three words post like you always do.

The rating system mentioned by Hades4u is also somthing I had in mind and would work out much better than the current one. The percentages don't really help you to rate better, it just visualizes the quality a bit better but it doesn't scale "right".(It actually starts around 50% afair and increses or decreases by a set amount depending on the current percentage, still means a guide with 6 upvotes and without a single downvote wouldn't be marked as what is considered a "Top rated" guide r endering it worthless.

If the admins agree on what I was saying we might be able to pull some sort of poll off, to verify what most people want instead of the current system. The one Hades4u mentioned would be one of the easiest and poissibly best.

I see a problem with the last one, the 1-10 rating. Trolls, mad kids etc. will just press 1 on every guide, therefore making it worse! Thoughts?

Doesn't really change anything because it seems to be happening already and it kinda evens out with a different system, regardless I think. Sure they may be able to "punish" you harder but it will also attract more people to vote firstly. And secondly people who hold their votes because they don't really know if it would be worth rate a certain guide with "+1" have better possibilities to make their decsion.

People who stupidly downvote for whatever reason don't do that. Atleast thats how I see it. You have a valid point though.

I am not going to give up on this, so I think I am in need to bump this thread by double posting, I am sorry for that but this is a matter which needs to be discussed I hope it gets more attention now.

Personally I prefer the 1-10 type of rating system
