Chaos Knight - May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favour

Introduction

Hey Y'all, this is my 1st guide. I've only recently played Chaos Knight when the update was released. I'm not a pro or anything in Dota 2 but I'm pretty decent in it. So far, I've experimented a few builds but found this to be pretty effective. I hope you guys leave constructive feedback :D

Pros / Cons

Pros:
-High starting armour
-High base damage
-High strength gain
-High base movement speed
-Can solo any lane
-Not super farm-independent
Cons:
-Melee
-Based on luck, therefore the title
-Runs out of mana quickly
-Low intelligence gain
-AoE spells counters your ulti

Cooldown: 140 Mana: 125/200/275

My Playstyle

Early Game - Basically as Chaos Knight, you want to solo lane. If mid is taken, try asking if you can solo the easy lane, maybe while you have a teammate jungling. You want to rush your Armlet of Mordiggian asap because your attack speed ain't that high and you want to deal the most damage you can in one hit. Once you're level 6, you might want to get your jungling friend to help you gank because your stun is able to to reach 4 seconds, but try to engage near your tower. Also do not forget to get your teammate to pull the creeps because if you're at their tower, it is very risky and your chances of getting ganked is higher. Since you're solo laning, be sure to look out for misses and check the map frequently.

Mid Game - Since you're solo laning, you have a level advantage, therefore by the time the enemies you're laning with are 6 or 7 you should be about 9. Once you're ten and get your ult, start grouping with your teammates and push lanes, you always sould try to get the last hit (should be easier with your illusions).

Late Game - Now, just aim on pushing all the lanes so they have no time to push towards your towers. Also, start getting your situational items to cater to your needs, maybe if you want to pub-stomp or shut down their hard carries. I will explain the situational items later.

Items

Starting Items: Since you are solo laning, its best to get more regen just to be safe, 6 Tango and a Healing Salve would do just fine. Using the rest of the gold on 3 ironwood branch and Gauntlets of Strength would ensure a GG.

Core(Mid): Armlet of Mordiggian, the most important core item on Chaos Knight, get this aft you get your Magic WandMagic Wand. Drums next, after your BracerBracer because your attack speed isn't very high therefore with the buff you get extra 10 attack speed which doesnt seem lot but it helps a ton especially since its a buff that your teammates also get to enjoy. The main problem I get when im farming or during fights is that armlet drains lots of my hp when I use it so I always make it a point to get lifesteal, I only put Morbid Mask in Mid Core because, you might want to experiment and maybe decide to get a Mask of Madness for the atk speed. Since during mid, you and your team will maybe be pushing lanes hard or defending, Town Portal Scroll come in very handy, therefore always have at least one in your inventory.

Core(Late): For my standard build, I get my helm of dominator as I would usually build a Satanic. Also because I want to be a more tanky/durable hero, I start on my Heart of Tarrasque.

Situational:
- Satanic
-One of my favourite items in Dota 2, esp because of the active (Unholy Rage) which gives 175% lifesteal on attacks. This syncs extremely well with your base damage because 175% of 250 damage or maybe 300 damage is crazy, you'll almost be unkillable!

- Assault Cuirass
-I've never really tried this on Chaos Knight before but the negative armour aura and 55 attack speed is a sure win. However, this does not come cheap and should only get it if you're extremely fed.

- Abyssal Blade
-You dont have to build your Skull Basher into this unless you want the active. However using another active isn't very easy since you have so many keys to press. I've never bought an abyssal blade before but the passive, same as the passive on Skull Basher is very helpful against high movement speed or tanky heroes. The stun helps to stop channeling spells, so you dont have to use Chaos Bolt to finish off tping heroes.

- Manta Style
-My pub-stomp item for Chaos Knight. Imagine, 5 illusions and you just raping the entire team. Because the way Reality Rift works, any illusions no matter from an illusion rune, your ulti or manta style, will tp to your target hero, however, aoe spells can easy spoil the fun because all your illusions take extra damage. This is my favourite item on almost any dpser and on Chaos Knight. The stats also give attack speed, which is what you would like to have on Chaos Knight

Summary

I know this guide has been really short but this is pretty much how I play Chaos Knight, it's simple to undersand and remember. You might want to have different builds to find out which works best for you. Always remember, this is a guide that you can follow, you dont have to copy every item thats on the build. EXPERIMENT AND HAVE FUN! Also, please leave constructive feedback and try not to be too harsh. :D

Why not vlads?
Synergises with your illusions

Also not entirely sure skipping ult is a good idea but I see the logic in it I think.
Too unsure to +1 or not, I'll give this build a try before doing anything...

Actually, Vlad's does not affect illusions whatsoever. That's why you don't ever see it on PL.

Vlads is possible on Chaos knight if you want even more lifesteal or other unique atk modifiers because its an aura and it stacks with lifesteals. However considering the other unique atk modifiers useful on chaos knight, desolator, for its -armour, is like the only other modifier you would want on chaos, skadi wouldnt help, orb of venom, lol wut, therefore if you'd be going for vlads, your combo would be vlads and deso. OR would it be better with a satanic and an assault cuirass, where you get Unholy Rage, more attack speed and a negative armour aura?

every good guide should have manta style under late game core...

mirror image barrage.. besides that, you really put in helm of dominator and satanic under situational? It's one or the other

unique modifiers ...
