Wondering what other people think about what I did in a recent Morphling game. From the start it was clear that we would be dealing with a fed Leshrac. Their team was Lesh, Bloodseeker, Mirana, BrewMaster anx Batrider
Lesh had a bloodstone around 22 minutes with several kills
I decided to build a Manta instead of the shotgun morphling E-blade build since they seemed hard to kill with the combo and I didnt think making myself take 40% more damage from Leshracs ult, lightning, starfall ect would serve to help the team too much
he bought bkb soon after too

in the end my items were really Manta, linkons and butterfly which was good since we were so behind
with leshrac, mirana and bs pushing we lost all map control by the 20th minute
after I was told by a friend not to play morphling because I didnt build E-blade and win the game

what do people think
did I **** up or do what was right?

Their team isn't very squishy. The only real 'Support' Hero in their line-up was apparently a 'Carry' Leshrac.

I don't think you made a mistake. I don't play Morphling (or carry really), but from what I've seen, I think the shotgun build is used for taking out important targets in a teamfight instantly before you start right clicking down everyone else. It's useful for solo ganks, but this isn't really something you can prioritise when you're behind and they're likely to be running 5 man.

It's good to think for yourself and adjust builds accordingly.

You did fine. E-blade would have been extremely ineffective.

Now, your huge fail was, to be honest picking Morphling. Given that you were able to lose all map control within the first 30 minutes, your team probably didn't have any anti-push or anything to counter lesh sufficiently. You had nothing to do a turtling strategy.

Them using Leshrac as their core was correct, because against morphling finishing the game as fast as possible is crucial. Brew and Mirana can go for more supportive roles anyway.

Another thing you could have done is get a Black King Bar. It COULD have justified an e-blade pickup, as nuking the lesh down was apparently something your team could not do but was possible through e-blade and bkb.

Possibly.

If your team feeds to a lesh you're probably done for anyway, though.

Yeah, maybe taking a BKB as samukobo said would've been a good idea, but still, Bloodseeker's Rupture is HP removal and goes through magic immunity. Your build was good, it reminds me of the last time I played Morphling and ended up feeding (or better, the whole team fed an enemy Bloodseeker) and started going Drums + Yasha + Ethereal; we ended up losing, but at the end of the game I had the highest level in my team. Sometimes farming the usual items just makes you come in teamfights too late.

Or also, another thing your team could've done was turtling and defending the base for ~20 more minutes so that you could've been able to outcarry the enemies, but even then you wouldn't have needed an Ethereal Blade that much (or at least not before getting a Butterfly).

I'm really confused as to how you lost your lanes. They probably have one of the greediest lineups. What was it, BS mid, Bat jungle, Mirana solo, and a Lesh Brew dual-lane? If their Lesh went greedy as well, they probably had no wards and no smokes. That screams 'punish our team'. I assume your supports were just playing the farm with dual lanes+babysit the Morphling game.

Your build was NOT fine. Switch linkens with BKB, since Brewmaster and Leshrac easily breaks Linkens and the range on their spells is ridiculous. And after that you're just food for all their magic dmg. Also the Butterfly is wasted because the only physical dmg on their team is BS and PotM. Anything from Skadi to MKB to Satanic would've been better. Just stand your ground, BKB+Satanic and go pew pew.
