I present to your attention a new hero for DotA 2 - Plague Doctor. This hero includes original ideas, new mechanics, excellent synergy of abilities and a story, closely intertwined with another hero.


Kelleven, the Plague Doctor, is a ranged strength hero. His abilities are most effective in long fights where he can damage enemies or heal allies, while absorbing a lot of damage. Deathbringer allows him to be a good roamer, who at any moment can come for help. Fumigation blinds enemies, forces them to use spells, which give a stacks of Healing Shield. Because his abilities are suited to prolonged encounters, he must build items which allow him to survive for as long as possible against his enemies. Plague Doctor is best understood as a hero against which the fight better finish as fast as possible.

No one was prepared for the plague epidemic. Mortality among commoners crossed all possible boundaries and this greatly agitated officials and rich people. Someone was looking for consolation in God and the afterlife, and someone turned to Kelleven, who because of potions, or because of innate immunity did not succumb to the plague. Having made himself famous, Kelleven became a plague doctor and began to make active money on potions. Rumors about the doctor reached the cardinal, after which he established a close relationship with him. Soon after learning of the death of the cardinal and the appointment of a new one, Kelleven decided to find out the further fate of the relationship between him and the church. The new cardinal refused to buy potions, leaving behind a secret of the reason for the refusal. Then Kelleven imperceptibly poured into the wine the potion of truth and learned about the agreement between the new cardinal and some Atos. Infuriated by the insolence of the Potions master and possible consequences, the Cardinal, with the help of Atos, decided to immediately kill him. Athos managed to kill him, but he could not absorb his soul. After an unsuccessful takeover, the part of Kelleven's soul got into a single creature nearby - into raven and he began to watch how life is quenched in his native city. Every death filled him with power, until at some point Kelleven was reborn. Soon he entered the Cathedral of Rumusque to get even with the cardinal, but was late - he disappeared. Since then, Kelleven cures the sick by the fault of the cardinal and seeks revenge with them.
P.S. New cardinal is Necrophos, Atos is a Lord of Blight (check item Rod of Atos).



(Q) Deathbringer

Plague Doctor transforms into raven, becoming disarmed, but gaining flying movement and vision. During it Plague Doctor has four separate abilities. As the Deathbringer increases in levels, it can learn the Doctor Form, Observer, Status Immunity and Wind Walk abilities. He can morph freely between doctor and raven form. Deathbringer cannot be used for few seconds after taking damage from an enemy hero or Roshan.

Transformation Time: 0.4
Day Vision: 1200
Night Vision: 800
Cooldown: 0
Damage Cooldown: 4/3/2/1
Manacost: 25

Deathbringer Transform: Undispellable.
Deathbringer Form: Undispellable.
Deathbringer Self Disarm: Undispellable.
Despite the lack of cooldown, Deathbringer does proc all on-cast effects like a regular spell.
Pierces spell immunity.
Flying vision does not affect illusions.
During the transformation, Plague Doctor cannot do anything. Cannot be interrupted.
Deathbringer persists through Plague Doctor's death. If he dies during it, he respawns in Deathbringer form.
Changes Plague Doctor's model and alters his voice.

(Q Deathbringer) Doctor Form

Return to Doctor form.

Ability: no target
Cast Animation: 0+0
Transformation Time: 0.4
Manacost: 25
Cooldown: 0

Requires Deathbringer level 1 to be unlocked.
Doctor Form Transform: Undispellable.
Despite being a sub-spell, Doctor Form does proc all on-cast effects like a regular spell.
During the transformation, Plague Doctor cannot do anything. Cannot be interrupted.

(W Deathbringer) Observer

While channeling gains a vision on a targeted 600 AoE for 3 seconds.

Ability: target area/channeled
Cast Range: 2500
Radius: 600
Max Channel Time: 3
Manacost: 25
Cooldown: 15

Requires Deathbringer level 2 to be unlocked.
Observer: Undispellable.

(E Deathbringer) Status Immunity

Immune to status effects.

Ability: passive
Status Resistance Bonus: 100%

Requires Deathbringer level 3 to be unlocked.
Status Immunity: Undispellable.

Cannot be used by illusions.

(R Deathbringer) Wind Walk

Provides temporary invisibility, bonus movement speed and improved Doctor Form transformation time.

Ability: no target
Cast Animation: 0+0
Doctor Form Transformation Time: 0.1
Fade Time: 0.6
Move Speed Bonus: 20%
Duration: 10
Manacost: 50
Cooldown: 25

Requires Deathbringer level 4 to be unlocked.
Deathbringer Wind Walk: Undispellable.
Does not interrupt Plague Doctor's channeling spells upon cast.
During the fade time, Plague Doctor can cast spells without breaking the invisibility.

(W) Plague Potion

Applies to the hero a potion that heals and increases status resistance to allies, or deals damage and reduces resistance to enemies.

Ability: target heroes
Damage Type: pure
Damage/Heal: 100/160/220/280
Status Resistance Change: 10%/15%/20%/25%
Duration: 5
Cast Range: 600
Manacost: 100/120/140/160
Cooldown: 12

Status Resistance Increase: Dispellable with any dispel.
Status Resistance Decrease: Dispellable with any dispel.
Blocked by Linken's Sphere.
Does not damage spell immune enemies.
When you apply again, the resistance change is updated.

(E) Healing Shield

Any damage from enemy spells increases Plague Doctor's heal amplification. Stacks with itself.

Ability: passive
Heal Amplification Per Stack: 10%/15%/20%/25%
Max Stacks: 4
Stack Duration: 10
Cooldown: 2

Healing Shield Stack: Undispellable.
Disabled by Break: Prevents gaining new stacks. Already existing stacks still provide bonus heal amplification.
Cannot be used by illusions.
Each spell cast refreshes the duration of the whole stack, making it theoretically possible to permanently have max stacks on.

(D) Darkblood Legacy

Kelleven converts a part of incoming damage into healing. Percent of ability depends on gained hero's level.

Ability: innate/passive
Incoming Damage as Healing per Level: 1%

This is an innate ability and does not need to be skilled. It is not bound to any ability, but to Plague Doctor himself.
Darkblood Legacy: Undispellable.
Not disabled by Break.
Cannot be used by illusions.
At level 25 Plague Doctor has 25% of incoming damage as healing.
Darkblood Legacy converts damage into healing after reductions.

(R) Fumigation

Spreads a cloud of charmed arcanum that causes the enemy to miss some attacks and prevents them from regenerating or healing.

Ability: toggle/aura
Cast Animation: 0+0
Radius: 450
Miss Chance: 50%/75%/100%
Mana Cost per Second: 20/35/50
Manacost: 50/75/100
Cooldown: 0

Fumigation: Undispellable.
Does not pierce spell immunity.
Fumigation debuffs are provided by an aura. This aura debuff lingers for 0.5 seconds, even if Fumigation is toggled off.
Fumigation does not interrupt Plague Doctor's channeling spells upon toggling.
Fully affects invisible units and units in the Fog of War.
Silencing or disabling Plague Doctor does not turn Fumigation off, not even while hidden.

1. How did this hero get to the battle of the Ancients?
He was looking for Necrophos to take revenge and came after him.

2. What does mean 100% status resistance?
Status resistance, no matter how high, cannot negate a status effect's effect entirely. This means even with 100% status resistance, stuns still interrupt the hero so that channeling spells get canceled, even though the hero was virtually not stunned at all. The minimum duration a modifier can have is one server tick, which is 0.033 (1/30) seconds.

3. I have found some grammar mistakes in your guide.
English is foreign language for me, so I am sorry if you found some mistakes.

I have two comments for this hero.

The [W] skill, Agony, bothers me a bit. It seems a little bit strong? It might just be me but the 100% healing/regen reduction seems too much? I feel as though it should never reach that level. So maybe at level 4 have it be 80% or something around there?

My second issue is with the ultimate. Something about it being global really bothers me. I realize that Global Silence is a similar skill and is in fact global but this somehow feels stronger. I'd be happier with it if it was a large AOE (like 1000 AOE maybe) and had an Aghanim's Scepter upgrade to make it global.

AA ulti is an ulti. And 80% is still a lot. Plus in most cases the utility of this spell comes in its slow as most heroes won't have upwards of 50ish regen.

The ulti should not be an "lol theres a furion press r" it should be well thought out and I feel this one could be. Granted, that is not all this spell does but that is what you make it sound like your thought process was. First of all, 1000 range with a 1000 aoe is most certainly serious for a six second disarm. It would encourage better positioning, too.

Also; how do you gain stacks with his "E". This is important and not specified.

It is your hero so you can do what you like with it; however generally I think commenters come on with the intention of making your hero better.

Wow, holy **** from here to r/dotaconcepts, your will to constantly change this hero is good and inspiring. Anyways, I think this has been a better hero than its previous incarnations, although it's not without its flaws, the ult is cool and all but the added fear mechanic makes it a bit OP, maybe have the fear be triggered by something like it will proc to a person who have dealt X amounts of damage or it will apply to anyone within a radius of an ally that got X amounts of damage. The concept of the hero is about status resistance and protection akin to Dazzle and Omniknight but unlike those 2 the hero is more like a bodyguard rather than a bait Aegis(Dazzle with Shallow Grave) or bait BKB and Ethereal State(Omni with both R and W). So this would be better and the fact that he is a Plague Doctor I think it fits well although again gotta say the ult did become better than the very first one.

Fear now is only 1 sec. I dont think its OP, coz here is CD 30/20/10 and enemies will see, when Plague Doctor make *tp* to his ally. Especially it is a part of ulti, even LD fear looks stronger.

Love the new changes!

I think my one criticism is Raven eye. It just doesn't make sense to me to have a teleporting raven; if this was like a forced 2000 speed charge of darkness to allies I think I would like it more.

Especially love how the raven does more unique things now. Nice job!
