its a bit dark so you have been warned. actually its proabbly too dark for Dota 2 lore but i actually think this works in well with tiny as a hero and his abilites and his responses.
anyway here it is
Tiny
Max hated everything about his crummy little town, he hated the people, he hated the fact that it was in the middle of a nowhere forest, he hated how everyone never listened to him but most of all he hated the kids. What did he do to deserve them being so mean to him? He hasn’t hurt them, he hasn’t called them names, was it because he was the smallest kid in the town? Was it because his dad was the town drunk? All he did was try and make friends but they kicked him or punched him or called him names. It wasn’t fair!
Today they made up a game where the first one to chase him out of town won. Jack the meanest of the bunch won this time by using a poker heated from his dads, the town smiths forge. Max had run away into the forest and had ended up at the river, sitting upon a boulder rubbing the still aching burn, max cried silently into his shirt.
“Why? Why are they so mean?” he asked the empty air
“Maybe they need to cause pain so they don’t feel it?” came a reply that grated like thunder.
Max shot up in fright and slipped off the boulder landing in the shallows of the river.
Laughter like a rockslide in the middle of a storm echoed around him.
Looking up in disbelief at a massive green eye max froze in shock. There, where he was sitting, was a face half submerged in the river as he stared the face slowly rose out of the water, the boulder he was sitting on turned out to be the things shoulder and as more and more of the beast rose the river frothed and churned as new channels opened up to it. Slowly ever so slowly the “Thing” drew itself up to its full height. Its head stood a good 10 feet above the tallest tree and Max had to creak his neck back all the way just to see the top of it.
A rumbling came from what seemed to be the things chest
“do not be afraid little human I mean you no harm”
Max decided that now was a good time to run. So he did.
Bolting up and away he sprinted off into the forest with a frightened yell. Like a hare he weaved in and out of the trees and root systems jumping and sliding and ducking as fast as he could, soon he burst into the town clearing and raced through its streets towards his da’s house.
Slamming through the door he ran straight into his dad at full speed bouncing off him and landing hard upon his rump.
“ommpfff, you little idiot! What the hell are you doing running into here like that ive a mind to teach you not to run.” His da groused rubbing his stomach.
“DA DA DA I found a BEAST in the forest!!! Its huge its massive its made of stone it talks its big its so big !!”
Max continued on for many seconds not realising his da’s face had gone stone cold and his eyes glittered with fire. Only after turning back to look at his ma did he see her face, one of terror.
The belt came whipping round with surprising force catching him upon the shoulder spinning him around with a cry.
“WHAT DID I SAY BOY!!!” his da roared.
“I said no more stories, I remember saying that I do”
“ no please da its true please stop please its true”
“NO MORE LAD IVE HAD ENOUGH” and he brought round the belt again this time catching max full across the face opening up a cut above his eye and leaving a red mark crossing the left side of his cheek.
The pain seemed to sharpen things for max and coldness entered his eyes.
“Just like you’ve had enough wine for today da? Just like you have lost enough gold at the tables da? Just like you have hurt mum enough da?”
As the words left his mouth, max’s mum gasped in shock and terror her hand going to her mouth. Max’s senses suddenly came back to him and he started to apologise when a fist took him straight in the jaw knocking him back into the wall, blood filled his mouth with a copper taste.
His ma screamed “JAMES PLEASE NO”
She grabbed his arm but his da turned and slapped her hard across the face sending her sprawling back across the kitchen table.
Seeing this max scrambles up from where he had landed and grabs the nearest thing to him which just happened to be his father’s last wine bottle swinging it around it shattered over his father’s head with the finality of a funeral bell.
His father turned around with an amazed look upon his face before giving out a groan and slumping to the floor.
Looking down at the remains of the bottle still held within his hand Max can’t believe what just happened. A small whimper of fright escapes him before he turns tail and races out the house.
Tears streaming down his face he runs and doesn’t stop for a long time. His legs just keep pumping away and the tree’s whip past without a thought given to where he is going.
He finally looks up and see’s he has arrived back at the river, realisation enters him and he slows down and hides behind a tree. Peering around the trunk, a sight that makes him smile is happening beyond.
The giant rock thing is sitting in the river a dozen birds and animals are playing and running around him and deep chuckles of laughter rumble out from him at the animal’s antics. He lifts up one of his massive hands and birds settle upon his thick fingers twittering and tweeting away like this is the best conversation they have had in a while. Deep booms of laughter blast out across the river to where Max is hiding.
“Hahaha come out little human from behind yonder tree, I mean thee no harm”
Max startles in shock but slowly edges out from behind the tree.
The thing smiles and the rock of his face grates and chips as he does so.
“I am called the old one, you may name me as Olde”
“im Max” was the quavered response.
“MAX HAHA that is a bad name for you little one… I shall call you …Tiny it is a much better name”
At this Olde extends a massive palm out towards max with a nod for him to climb aboard.
Taking a cautious step out onto the palm Max becomes bolder at the lack of threat the thing seems to give.
As Olde brings Max closer he can see the cut and welts as well as the split lip and slowly growing black eye. His green eyes become like flint and his face turns to an expression that makes max revise his thought of Olde being without threat.
“Did your child tormentors do this to you as well?” Olde Quires
“no sir it was my da”
“hmmm well then maybe we can do something about that”
“im fine I swear I just wsh I could protect my mum” Max said this with feeling that he didn’t think he had.
“is that all you wish for Tiny human?”
“NO” max suddenly felt invigorated with a need to explain to this Walking boulder what he most wanted in this world.
“I wish I could protect those that can’t protect themselves, I want to not feel pain any longer and I don’t want them to either, I want to stop and hurt those that do want to cause pain…. I want to be big and strong… I want… I want to….”
Sudden realisation came upon Max.
“I want to be like you!” he exclaimed.
“Are you sure little one because I have lost a lot to gain what I have come to realise as little.”
“YES IM SURE”
“will you give up everything for this?”
“YES”
Olde raised his other hand ever so slowly to Max’s Face and wiped one of his massive fingers the size of Max’s face across his cut.
Max could feel something straight away it was like a hardening of his skin, his tongue become heavier his limbs became so so heavy. Soon he could barely keep his eyes open as his whole body became so heavy. He couldn’t feel his legs, he couldn’t feel his arms the only thing he could feel or hear was his heart which beat away like a clock.
Thump, thump thump, thump.
Soon even that changed it became rougher and harder it sounded like two rocks crashing together.
As Max’s eyes finally closed the last thing he heard was.
“free at last”
The Olde one was watching as Tiny woke up in the clearing smiling sadly.
“even though you don’t remember why or when or who. a day will come when you didn’t wish for what I have given you. “
Looking down at his old smooth elven hands feeling the breeze flowing across his face the old one smiled again but this time with utmost joy.

Certainly didnt expect this, but here is my review.
I quite liked the way this story is going, a boy bullied and turned to stone
But he wanted to PROTECT people. As far as I have read, Olde didnt protect anyone
Okay, I am not fond of this kind of dark story, I **** like the term bully much
The ending was a little too fast, as if you are in a hurry
Anyways, although not my taste, this is well done. Are you still continuing this thread?
