A pretty pointless ahgs upgrade is on cm. It increases the damage and slow I believe, but she doesn't really need that, as her ult is really powerful at level 3 alone. Although the stats and bonus hp and mana are nice.

I'm glad someone mentioned the aghs upgrade for Omniknight. Hell, 4200 gold for a second glyph that also hits teammates, friendly creeps AND lasts for 10 seconds as opposed to 5. On top of all that, it heals 25 hp/sec, which is nice if the enemy team has rat doto heroes that just chip at your towers. The only problem is getting him enough money to buy it. :/

And personally, I like the aghs upgrade for CM. Yeah, it's not the best, but the slow is just SO MUCH.

It's a nice upgrade for CM, but again. After some other items that are more important have been purchased it will be hard to accumulate enough money to buy it.

The thing for Omniknight isn't just the extended duration or building protection (although they're sweeeet) - it's that it removes his positioning requirements. For a support hero who has to usually be positioned amongst his team mates (and therefore vulnerable to disable, silence, purge and focusing), he can set it off from his own fountain and it will still help his team.

The CM upgrade is nice, but she needs setup/survivability equipment waaaay more (BKB at least) in order to actually make her ult reliable/effective.

That's a great point, actually; Omni with Aghanim's doesn't need to be in the thick of things, which is incredibly useful.

And yes, CM definitely does need other items before BKB to make her ult useful.

Best ones (Aghs is core) are Tiny, Viper, Meepo, Brew, Visage, Nightstalker. Could make a case for Jugg and Void as well. Most of the other great ones are on supports where it's hard to label them "core" due to affordability.

Worst by far are Gyro and Puck.

Gyrocopter has the worst Aghanim's Scepter upgrade? We have to think not only what a hero could have instead of that item, but what this upgrade gives.

Additional damage is not a big deal, but global presence is great for team-fights (not worrying about range), and I even saw succesful buyback Call Down from the fountain that saved a game. But still I think it's best for split-pushing. Cooldown is quite low, and this is useful if Gyrocopter isn't the position 1 core.

Anyway, even if we won't consider hero slots, I still think that Chronosphere upgrade is not worth 4200 gold.

Gyrocopter has pretty good upgrade, thing is, you usually pick Gyro when you need rightclicker, in which case it's pointless. If you are playing support Gyro (Akke, anyone?), it's nice luxury item.

Chronosphere with Aghanim's Scepter is absolutely amazing. You don't need to be six-slotted with Void to kill anyone you want in chrono - boots, four items and Aghanim's Scepter is far than enough, and point is, mostly when you pick void, you need that chrono in teamfights. And then you have it more often and for longer time. It's especially amazing if you have some AoE spells to put into Chronosphere.

Yeah exactly, it's pretty rare for a Gyro to not be a #1 or #2, he can work as a support but it's extremely situational. The range on the Aghs is nice, but the damage is lacklustre.

Would completely agree on Faceless Void - having the fast cooldown and extra time on Chronosphere is great if you have other team mates who can add the missing damage - Jakiro, Witch Doctor or Skywrath Mage for example. It lets your team roll a lot faster than a pure DPS void with the right backup.

The've been running Aghs/Refresher Voids at TI4. Basically two very long chronospheres to do tons of damage.
