After joining DOTAFire, I have learn a LOT of things. It actually changed the way I play.
Some things I learned:
-F**k Shadow Blade, get Blink Dagger instead
-Be adaptive
-Drafting and meta

But seriously, when can I be smart? How come you guys know so much about this kinds of stuffs? It amazes me how smart you people are, compared to my **** knowledge of the game. How did you guys talk the meta, hero capabilities, game mechanics, etc?

Example:

Previous Clinkz post
Detailed explanations are always amazing for me. Why he is terrible in the meta, why he is not a good ganker, man, you guys talked like a professor.

Meta Thread
My first thoughts are: "What the hell are they even talking about". Meta is one thing that I understood least in the game, sorry to sound like an idiot.

Dota is truly a wonderful game. It requires knowledge most of all.

So... When would I be as smart as you guys?

We're a community here. Nobody was born with Dota in their blood. Come to think of it, after I start updating my warding guide, might make a blog about how I picked up Dota.

Go twitch, watch some games and voila, you'll pretty much learn more about competitive games. Especially when casters discuss stuff unless it's xyclops casting on BTS then it's different. Not implying that I am smart though, I'm sort of in the try hard league but at least it works sometimes. Sue me, I used the word "league".

I'd like to chime in with some thanks. As if the huge array of guides wasn't help enough. If someone isn't sure of something we ust make a forum post and we either instantly get the answer or it creates a nice debate with a few different idea's thrown about.

This place is awesome.

when i started a little over 12 months ago, i built Vladimir's Offering on ranged heroes.

i learnt gameplay through trial and error and practice.

i learnt abilities off by heart by playing against unfair bots ..over and over and over again.

i learnt higher form positioning from a coach.

i learnt drafting from watching pro games.

i learnt how to read and understand current meta by being a member of this amazing community.

my knowledge is not from just one source but from many many many sources.

my best advice is simple.

"Play heaps, Watch heaps, Read heaps and ASK heaps"

because hey if you cant figure it out from doing the first three.... whats the harm in asking :)
