Do you really THINK he is as good as he says?
The guy has played100 games. What skill will he have playing a hopeless case of a hard carry? Dont carries need 25k gold to come online?
Granted the snowballers will benefit him in short run but he wont be able to carry once he gets decent mates and enemies, believe me thwre does come that day. HE WILL NEED TO SUPPORT ONCE HE GETS OUT OF TRENCH HELL, USE MINIMAL GOLD, PLAY PASSIVE AND SURVIVE.

If he is not good, nothing will help him. Of he is, carries are his best way. Getting competent stacks is not easy too, you don't know if that's a ghood player or jsut regular scrub esp, playing with your IRL friend.

25k gold? That's 5-slotted carry, where did you get such a numbers, from your head?

Everyone keeps talking about this, but what he means is that he atleast is willing to learn, did some research and knows that teams needs more roles then carry.

i got that part^^ ...and i even said that reading guides and learning about the game is commendable ....i just cant stand it, that everybody is trying to tell him what heroes / roles to play, because this kind of advice is useless ..especially in lower brackets.

Every skill bracket has somewhat of its own "metagame" and especially in the "newcomer-meta" EVERY hero can work ....hell i remember a game when i started to play Dota, were my team got annihilated by a carry lich....

Yeah, I second that. Yesterday I was playing 2 a 1 vs. 1 Mid Only games with Xyrus, and I got owned. I am like never playing middle, but I kept saying that I was just too exhausted (I still think it's the case!).
With knowledge on how to position yourself to win that battle for lasthits and denies you are better not only on mid, but also as a carry.

I have around 1600 games played, and I still have questions that needs to be answered for me. IceFrog is a damn genius.

It's great to have a team that can communicate and provide you with constructive criticism on your skill and item build ( Ring of Aquila strat ftw :D). While I am rather loud and semi-aggresive on the microphone, I am trying to help my teammates, as well as they help me. Awww, I'm gonna cry boys.

MAKE A FRIGGIN IN HOUSE PARTY THAT HELPS NEWBS ON CALL!!!!!!

as for the guy who says that carries are best bet... Your opinion man.

He will have to know the way of the support. how would he come back from feeding hard early game, how will he know the way to squeeze farm out of minimal resources, how will he know to use the items at hand to the fullest IF HE CANT EVEN SUPPORT?
The best way is to play in a stack and play support position in that stack THAT IS HOW I DID IT.
I spoke from my opinion and experience.
How did you get out of trench? That would be a better input than disputing others who have something to say about it , dont you think?

Sure, if you solo play pick the hardest carry around and go wreck the game at 50 minutes but dont come crying when the other scrubs play ballers like Riki or Spirit Breaker or even Pudge for that matter. A semi good pudge WILL capitalize on lack of wards, He will get his hooks standing in the fog. Heck he iis so OP in trench that people run away from mid lane when he uses Rot . What happens to the carry then?

I even accept the insinuation that this particular greenhorn has read some crafting guides , learnt the game mechanics, but how do you know he will EXECUTE it? DID YOU AT YOUR FIRST TRY? He came for help and that is mighty appreciable of him.

On a side not i think this forum should help new players who are willing to learn; show them the way devote some hours for new players and if they do they should get community points like the +rep mechanism.

Dont you agree with me? atleast on my last note?

What number do you have in your head for Gold to farm as a carry? ( i always thought it was 25-30K so i posted the minimal limit to quualify as carry Farm)

I do have a head. Surprised people can change?

About 10-12k, you should only need 2 Major Items + Boots before you can start being effective, e.g. Power Treads, Black King Bar, Manta Style, or Boots of Travel, Radiance, Manta Style, etc.

It's more about the Speed with which you obtain Items though, rather than the amount of Gold you Farm or how many Last Hits you have. Since you can get Gold from Kills, Assists, Towers and Roshan, just focus on making sure you have the right Items before they're needed, or failing that, as soon as possible, e.g. 13 minute Battle Fury, 18 minute Radiance, 15-25 minute Black King Bar (this depends on whether you build another Item 1st or not), etc.

It depends on the carry, but no carry in Dota wouldm require 25k to come online. Even Medusa can fight and push decently with Skadi+Manta, and that's barely 11k, mb around 15 if we take boots and early-game items into account. That's the highest number.

Supporting in trench will teach you almost nothing, as carries are too dumb to use anything but courier, if you want to learn ho to supp, play carry and you qwill knwo what you'll need from support, be it solo exp, wards somewhere or some other thing. Then apply the knowledge to the games you are supporting.

The last phrase was just plain stupid, I wasn't even around when you were, so why I should care what rep you had on this forum?

Already Seconded. Play in a stack.

Xyrus Aniki!!! I meant to say at the very end for a 6 slot carry, how much you would need.

AND
Can we make some collegium of some sort that guides new players and play with them when needed? Something like the inhouses you have. How about only 1 in a month?

I do play with less experienced DotaFIRE members whenever it's possible.

I never said, that he should play carry, or he should improve his skills on a carry role. I was talking about MYSELF. It was about that particular Mid Only lobby game with Xyrus I mentioned in previous sentence. It's in the same paragraph.

Of course I do not think that he should play carry in 5-stack, where there are players with 1000+ games. You assumed incorrectly, that I was giving advice like: "JOIN US AND PLAY CARRY U WILL PWN DEM n00bs", which isn't true.

He came for help and I offered it to him. It is on the first page. I told him to add me on Steam so that I could possibly teach him on game mechanics, map, warding spots etc. in probably a lobby game even without any bots.

I was previously coaching one DotaFIRE member, so don't ***** around that I am not aware of what am I writing.

Please do see my previous posts. I have always advised playing in a stack.
My sincere apologies if i hurt you or anyone for that matter. I get heated at the instance of helping others.
