There are many heroes like Nature's Prophet and Mirana that sometimes build carry items.

Maelstrom and Desolator on profit is debatable, but on mirana?

I mean, both of them doesnt have in-built attack buffers. Why do people make them a carry?

prophet is kind of the same as Anti-Mage, he farms fast and is good at splitpushing, which gives him a lot of lategame utility. personally i dont like deso on him because he isnt a midgame fighter and MKB/deadalus just give more damage though.

prophet is usually played as an offlaner apart from in low pubs, but he is more on the greedy side. so he needs some level of items, you can go full utility with force staff and mek, but he isnt really a hero who sticks with the team.
so the most common build on him is a utility item like necrobook or orchid, which you can skip if the game is farm intensive or its not your job to gank, often a blink for positioning and a hex at later stages.

so a build like: boots, MKB/crit, mjollnir, necro, hex, blink is not uncommon and still does a ****ton of damage. you can even go 8 or 9 slotted with necro, manta and refresher on a second personal courier, and carry an extra damage item if they are on cooldown.

mirana is a different case, i never liked the safelane mirana and ive seen so many teams lose because of it when she was firstpicked. i only like her as a farmer in an agressive trilane or as a mid in the hands of a VERY skilled mira player like singsing or pajkatt.

still with a lot damage items she can do a ****ton of damage too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1k871SmlPQ

Mirana actually used to be played a lot as carry. With the current patch and meta though she doesn't deliver as great as other carries. The problem I see is that she really needs her core items to deal somewhat decent damage, but other carries can out dps her with the same farm. So you really need to shut down the enemy carry and get a ****ton farm yourself to be really effective.

Mirana is a ganker, not a carry. He skillset is all about getting early kills with her high burst damage combo Sacred Arrow + Starstorm = tons of damage.
With the kills she gets, Mirana is supposed to snowball into a semi-carry, thet's the way she's supposed to use her farm. You're right though, nothing makes her a right-click hero besides the fact that she's an agi hero with good stats.

Like lots of gankers, she's pretty mediocre at carrying and her late game presence is questionable. Mirana is at her strongest in the early-mid game and can only carry the late game if she had a VERY good start. So you make Mirana a carry to use the farm that she acquired from ganking, so that her damage output scales. WIthout right-click items she can't solo kill anyone with her combo past a certain point.

Nature's Prophet...it's a different matter. He's just raking in the dough. His whole skillset is all about making money. If you give tons of money to a hero he can just get right-click items. Just coz he can. It's only one way of playing him though. You can go blink-mek-necrobook-sheepstick on him and it's perfectly fine.
