Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice in regards to my playstyle. I started playing Dota 2 (my first ever MOBA) in late 2012 for a while, then took a long break and come back a couple of weeks ago. Now, my first number of games were pretty awful as you might imagine but I'd like to think I've improved a fair bit since then. A little while ago I decided to try out ranked, so I did my calibration games and the result was a whopping 2.2k mmr.

Not the mmr I was hoping for obviously, and I've been winning a good deal of my solo ranked games. What I'd like to ask however, is if there's anything notable I'm doing wrong? My scores aren't always the greatest, and I catch myself over committing on some heroes quite a lot, resulting in pretty much feeding. Any help and/or criticism would be appreciated. im kinda quiet at work atm so ill help you out a bit.

1). Positioning

constantly look at where you are in relation to your team, your towers, possible escape routes, approach routes, the enemy position (where they are how close you are how close they are to the possible routes and where the rest of the enemy is on the map) think about the range of the spells they have and try and stay out of them.

2). Timing

try and think about timing a lot... 4 minutes in if your a support go smoke and gank. make sure you check your enemys level progression and item progression. when engaging think about the timing of the abilites in play and adjust your engagement appropriately. try to chain the stuns max the slows and increase the burst.

3). Risk Management

look at what you will get out of certain actions. yea you might be over extending but by doing so are you forcing a rotation out of mid or hard lane? now those lanes are free for a push. this requires that your team takes advantage of it though so communication is KEY. ASSESS the RISK in relation to the possible REWARD.

4). Communication

talk talk talk talk talk

5). Synergy/Drafting/counter picking

most games are won or lost in the drafting phase. if you have a team with a HC a OFF a MID and a SUPPORT.... pick a support. or a roamer. make sure your team composition has some synergy. dont pick based on what u like to play pick based on what your team NEEDS!

and last but not least.

6). have fun !!! :D

I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL.... WITH FLUFFY BUNNIES
