I received an add yesterday from this account:

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198088417623/

I thought it might be someone looking for help so I added him (or her!), and thought nothing of it. He messaged me within seconds of me accepting the add and asked if I could stand in for a tournament. I asked for a link to the tournament and he sent me this site. I bookmarked it to forward to my captain, and now the link is broken (It was working yesterday). Looked like a pretty basic front page, with the DotA 2 teaser trailer on it. The tournament was out of Romania.

He said to participate in the tournament I had to make an account on another website, and link it to my steam account. I told him that I cannot stand in for a tournament. He said just 2 games, and it would help him out. I asked how he had heard of me and how he chose ME as a stand in (Prior to this message I made my steam profile private so he couldn't copy/paste any random steam profile). Here's the conversation:

8:24 AM - e2Z | Fade.: i create new account man ?
8:25 AM - e2Z | Fade.: you*
8:26 AM - d(^_^)b: How did you get my account information, again?
8:28 AM - e2Z | Fade.: you recomander کยקéภdΩЦ
8:28 AM - e2Z | Fade.: eddie:D
8:29 AM - d(^_^)b: Doesn't sound familiar. Link to his steam profile?
8:29 AM - e2Z | Fade.: 1 sec
8:30 AM - e2Z | Fade.: this man
8:36 AM - e2Z | Fade.: gamer nature man
8:36 AM - e2Z | Fade.: :D

All of his responses were immediate except the last two. That makes me think that he was looking for a way to find a name of any of my friends and link them. After I told him I couldn't

Now this was yesterday morning, and about two hours ago I received a very similar message from another account. Again, right after I added them they asked me to stand in for a tournament. I told him "No." and he responded with:

6:43 AM - Messi91: : plz open this link once [Removed for security puposes]
6:44 AM - Messi91: pls do it ASAP
8:52 AM - d(^_^)b: What's in the link?
8:52 AM - Messi91: dont know much... my frnd sent it
8:53 AM - d(^_^)b: You didn't click it?
8:53 AM - Messi91: jst copied and passd
8:53 AM - d(^_^)b: Gotcha
8:54 AM - d(^_^)b: Do I know you? How did I add you?
8:55 AM - Messi91: forgot :P
8:56 AM - Messi91: can unfriend me..
8:56 AM - d(^_^)b: I'm going to
8:56 AM - Messi91: gogogo
8:56 AM - Messi91 is now Offline.

Still no response.

here is his/her steam account:

I have two friends who have been scammed and lost their entire inventory from just clicking a link. I'm not kidding. So if you get random messages like this, I suggest removing that person immediately unless they can explain who they are or why they have added you.

That's it. I know long post is long. Sorry.

Be safe!

Reminds me of those players copypasting their "steamcornmunity" links. :D
I find the "play as a stand in" excuse very convincing though, I'm pretty sure many players would fall for it without reading this post first.

Last time I was offered to have a 5v5 between people I know, I declined.

I feed bad enough in pubs, the last thing I need is to feed in a professional setting :)
