All I said was that EW build is my favourite, in no way is it the best.
The best invoker IMO is the QW build, its mobile and has like 3 stuns/anti-channel, just basicly provides ****loads of area control.
QE is strong but really lacks mobility.
QE with a Eul and forcestaff/blink is more than enough for mobility, plus shifting midgame to late game you get the full damage power of the exort while slowly increasing wex for mobility anyway since most likely than not quas is staying level 4-5 till late late game.
QW can also sort of semi carry but it lacks the damage output needed to actually do said task. An orchid may help but it only works on a single target so yea... Also with QW you don't get dual forge spirits to do dual armor melt and snap triggers, but do get tornado and emp for early game CC.
Personally I play both styles depending on the team comp.
I'vs thought about wex-exort invoker a lot since the 6.80 changes on Invoker. I've always played quas-exort invoker and I've never really been a fan of quas-wex invoker. Essentially I think playing quas-wex is kind of a waste because you are picking a hero with 10 spells just to use 4 of them, while quas-exort invoker actually has 8 spells ( Chaos Meteor, Deafening Blast, Tornado and even Ghost Walk are still perfectly usable with only 1 or 2 levels in Wex). That's why I was really curious about wex-exort invoker as an alternative to quas-wex invoker to still use the new EMP. Even now I'm not really convinced by the new trend of playing quas-wex invoker as a right-click carry with orchid (because it essentially comes down to that), because I think that's it's not a very good way to compensate for the fact that quas-wex is extremely limited in terms of spells.
Actually I even tried playing quas-wex invoker as a roaming support (like a Vengeful Spirit essentially). It ended up working really well. I don't really think you need solo mid for quas-wex invoker, because QW invoker is actually not very experience-dependent, and not farm dependent at all.
I've tried a lot of wex-exort invoker when 6.80 came out but I finally came back to playing the good old school quas-exort invoker despite the nerf (which is actually not that hard).
On WE invoker, having a low level Cold Snap isn't really a problem because it doesn't really scale that well. The lack of HP regen is also a complete non-issue if you are solo mid (just get Bottle like any other hero).
The big problem with wex-exort is actually that (surprisingly) you really lack burst damage, at least in comparison to quas-exort. Also, since you have no quas, you have no disable, so landing your spells is pretty hard.
- I think Rod of Atos would be great on WE invoker, because the disable is really needed to land meteor and EMP, as well as to compensate for the fact that you have no chasing ability.
- The big problem is that you really need Deafening Blast for your Chaos Meteor to be worth anything in a teamfight because you need the stun and the pushback to maximize meteor damage. So if you're going wex-exort Chaos Meteor is really hard to use in teamfights except if you have a setup from the rest of your team like Ravage.
- However, Tornado + EMP + Chaos Meteor is still better than just the quas-wex Tornado + EMP. So WE invoker can actually do more in teamfights than QW invoker even if his meteor is purely luck-based because he has no disable. However it is more unreliable because the disable from Tornado is only 0.8 seconds with only 1 quas level, so EMP can still be dodged.
- While Alacrity is indeed a good spell early on, Forge Spirit + Cold Snap is still much stronger, both in damage and in disable, so in terms of right-click quas-exort definitely wins, even after 6.80.
-the big problem is that surprisingly quas-exort invoker uses Chaos Meteor much better than wex-exort invoker.
-maybe you could try something with Shiva's Guard. Like rushing a shivas and using the slow as a setup for EMP and meteor, as well as added damage to your combo. I could try this. Tornado + EMP + Chaos Meteor + Shiva's Guard new meta? :)
Actually the best combo in terms of burst damage and disable is Shiva's Guard + EMP + Chaos Meteor + Deafening Blast. Huge burst damage + mana burn + 4 second AOE disarm (!!). But is the shivas slow really enough to land it? It becomes pretty much a skillshot at that point...
Generally I think the idea of WE invoker has potential, his burst damage is way higher than QW invoker but still a bit lower than QE invoker, but in exchange he has the full EMP manaburn which is awesome. But the timings on his spells are still a bit unreliable and you really need to do something to have a disable in order to land your spells.
