Hello guys,

I know there is a guide with recommended heroes for beginners and so on, but I want to ask your opinion. What heroes helps understanding game better? With which heroes have you started playing? And maybe some tips from your own experience. :)

Sorry if that question was asked before. I just want to learn about DOTA 2 and enjoy it more.

Thanks for your answers :)

Pudge is the probably the best example for this. He's useful for learning lots of the basics and even some advanced tactics, i.e....

If the other Team can see you, it means they will try to dodge your Hook, so you have to know where you can and cannot be seen (e.g. Anticipating Observer Wards and making use of Smoke of Deceit etc.) and take advantage of it. In order to land "blind" Hooks, you have to understand how the other Player will be moving, and even have to know how they will try to Juke your Hooks. There's plenty of other things too but...etc.

A hero for understanding the game better you could play Earth Shaker, his Fissure is useful for learning how to block creeps, enemy heroes from killing your carry or attacking a tower etc. He is also useful for initiating so you could learn how to initiate team fights better. He can also help with killing tanks and towers due to his Enchant Totem
Your new diet for heroes; You will need 4 wards (cuz wards taste better), 1 set of tangoes, 1 mango, 1 cheese.
With this you can make a nice Tango Mango Cheese platter. You can wash this all down with a nice bottle of water, Can be flavoured with red, green, yellow, blue, purple AND GOLD!
Caution: Taking roshan 3 times is required.

I don't think there's any heroes in particular that will teach you more than others, but there are certainly some that are easier to use.

Earthshaker in particular, is NOT a good hero for beginners. Any hero with the capability to screw his own team with a bad spell (off the top of my head, Naga Siren and Faceless Void also have this capability) should be avoided until you have a better idea of what you're doing.

The heroes in the beginner guide are all good starting points, and tend to have a more basic concept and skillset. This is important because you want to be focused on learning the game rather than learning the hero.
