Hi all. I just thought you might be interested in a project that I've been working on. It's a hero selection tool that evaluates past Dota 2 matches and determines how effective heroes are in different lineups. It will also estimate each team's chance of winning as heroes are added or dropped. It's still in beta, but I'd love to get your opinions on it.

Ooh O_O

Well, my opinions are that this is a useful tool, but it could cause people to give up hope before the game starts or become too overconfident. That varies from person to person, though, so I don't know.

Though the percentages are helpful, how about adding an overall team-play style? For example, different combinations of heroes will produce different suggested play-styles, like Early Push, 4 Protect 1, Early Ganks etc. etc. *coughlevel1roshancough*

I would download this :)

Thanks man. Yeah, I have a lot of ideas and your team play style idea was already on the list. And I agree, that would be a great addition. As far as downloading it, you don't have to. Just go to the website if you haven't already. I will have a downloadable version eventually that stays on top of the Dota client, so you don't have to keep alt-tabbing to use it in game but that might be a while off. Thanks for the feedback man.

wow i would definitely use this...

is there a future version where if you input a 5 man team on say the radiant side it would recommend a counter team for the dire based on win rate or what ever algorithm you are using?

Thanks bro. Yup! I have a "best teams" feature already pretty much written. Right now the math is very primitive for the whole application though, so I'm working on that before I continue with anything else. I'm almost there, and maybe in like a month or so, I plan to swap out the current algorithms with much more advanced ones. After that, I'll start adding features like the one you mentioned.

Thanks. Yeah, I agree. That's why I made it. And yup, smart device app is on the list too. I'll post more stuff on here as progress is made.

Are the past dota 2 matches from the player's matches or all of the dota 2 matches in the world/selected region so far?
